This version is SOOOOOO much better than the version on Letterman. I thought the Paul Shaffer band was supposed to be good, but they truly sucked when backing up Melody on this song, on Letterman.

It wasn't just mixing either, they were not in sync (or counter-syncopation, as it were). I think she was trying to lead them by stomping her foot, but she couldn't get them completely in time.
