  • Recorded in the bathroom?

  • I just want to know one thing - if Billy the Kid has heard it yet.

  • i thought it would be a parody of glamorus indie rock and roll by the killers

  • he is trashing billy joel.

    that's why he buried this.

    get over it.

  • his music doesn't all sound the same

  • It's a big hit isn't it? Even it's a piece of JUNK.

    Oooooooo!!!

  • I'm a huge Billy fan, and a huge Weird Al fan, so this song is perfect for me! I wish he released this on one of his albums.

  • What's lamer? Billy Joel or some freakin' Weird All imitator? FAIL!

  • @timwise1960 This actually is Al. He confirmed it on Comedy Death Ray two years ago. He just never bothered to release it because he knew he'd never get the okay from Joel.

  • hey... some of us love billy. but this is kind of funny. oh well

  • @LadyFullMoon71 My uncle turned me on to Allan Sherman. Funny, funny man, gone way too soon. Tom Lehrer was the most intellectual man to do parodies. Only Weird Al can keep doing them for more than 30 years and still be good at it. This was never released, and neither was "Pack Man." Both should be released some day, somewhere. On my channel is a song I wrote about Weird Al, "Rock Songs with a Polka Beat." Enjoy.

  • Gleefully ridiculous.

  • Weird Al looks awesome with an army helmet

  • jebem ti mater ruznu sisaj kurac picketino

  • this song is just mean,

  • @edvaira I'm a pretty big Billy Joel fan, there are probably meaner parody songs, and Weird Al is just expressing his opinions on Billy Joel. It's also mocking mainstream music, which is another reason I love this song. Deal with it.

  • @edvaira You probably wouldn't enjoy his "Smells Like Nirvana" then... Then again, I'm not sure you are the demographic he's aiming for.

  • its the acordian, wow! It easly replaces the base guitar in its still rock and rool to me.

  • i know its a parody and its 'Just a joke" but i couldnt enjoy this

even though i dont realy like Its Still Rock n' roll to me i like bily joel to much

    BILLY JOEL IS KING

  • @indiggy57 Parody is the sincerest form of flattery.

  • He wrote it before he was big and famous. They didn't ask or release because they expected a no.

  • Woops, he didn't ask permission.

    Never mind.

    But Al isn't actually serious.

  • @PenguinCinema yeah but the song wasn't released

  • @CPSHOWTV I know that. What's that supposed to prove?

  • Uh, you do realize that he personally asked Billy Joel if he could make this song, right?

...I don't think that Mr. Joel would let him do it if he really thought that he was making fun of him.

    Hence the term "parody".

  • LOVE Al's version more than Billy Joel's!! I LOVE that he's makin' fun of Billy Joel...it's so amazing!

  • @Diana24Kay EW. how dare you say that?

  • @Diana24Kay EW. how dare you say that? and plus, he actually has talent, unlike the shit we hear today.

  • @meandog84 It's just a parody. Lighten up.

  • Al tells it like it is!

  • Faggot

  • hmm..billy joel talent vs. weird al talent. Gee that's a tough one.

  • Dude, guess who my two favorite musicians are right now? Weird Al and Billy Joel. This was a JOKE, okay? And Al spends a lot of his time making fun of the garbage that you're talking about, so I highly doubt that he's brainwashed. Songs like this are all in good fun, so give it a rest, alright?

  • YOU don't get it. This is a joke. Not real. Supposed to me funny. I'm almost sure Al doesn't actually feel this way. It could just as easily been about another artist.

You obviously haven't heard many Weird Al songs at all if you don't like him.

  • Mega ROTFLMAO. Al is GENIUS!

  • billy joel WAS a good artist, and then he started to suck, and now he's a greedy bastard. your all half right, now no more flaming, this is weird al, its not serious.

  • How come this great parody didn't make it unto Weird Al's essential set he just released?

  • This was an old doctor demento song, before he "made it" and before he started asking permissions to do parodies. AFAIK, it's never been released.

  • @boychorbs I know, right? He needs to release this, "Pacman", and his other rarities on the Internet, kind of like "Internet Leaks"

  • I wonder if this was preformed before his band was put together. I'm impressed

  • Billy Joel is a greedy whore? Billy Joel is one of the greatest song writers\entertainers in American history. Your opinion is garbage.

  • Billy is THE greatest American songwriter/entertainer.

  • No, Chuck Berry is.

  • Chuck Berry is awesome. I have never said anything even vaguely intimating otherwise. But find me one Chuck Berry song that rivals Scenes From An Italian Restaurant.

  • Even if it's mindless crap, it's still Billy Joel to me.

  • This was interesting, and i don't completly agree with Al's opinion. Al was just making a song, so i'm with Revisionist, if Billy dosent care then why should we.

  • I have never seen this. It's great!!!

  • Man... I've been looking for this one for years... woo hoo! :)

  • it may not be up to Al's parr because he wrote this in COLLAGE or before

  • learn how to spell COLLEGE

  • Billy Joel can't be too annoyed by this song anyway, since he allowed Yankovic to parody "Piano Man" on his 2003 album Poodle Hat... so if Billy Joel is not mad, I don't really think any of his fans ought to be either.

  • take it away please

  • weird al didnt know he was gonna be famous when he made this song now he wouldnt dare make fun of anyone so all of u tards that think this song is a piece of trash than go eat it

  • why don't you anymore?

  • I think his refering to the Glass Houses album (where "it's still rock and roll to me" came), were the critics actually accused him of just copying Mick Jagger and other artists

  • Weird Al earns his money by imitating others. IT'S HIS JOB!

  • I must have confused you. I meant BILLY JOELS glass houses album. And to me this song has a double layer. And I actually consider this as tribute to Billy by saying "It's still Billy Joel to me"

  • ahhaha as much as i love billy joel wierd al is the fuckin man and this is hilarious lmao

  • This was a far cry from Al's best... a faaaaaar cry...

  • When I first heard it (live) it wasn't a "piece of crap", it rhymed with 'hit'. I find it very funny (even if Billy Joel didn't grow a sense of humor -- too self important to get it, i guess).

Oh, and for the education of klhsmartypants1 the art form is called "Parody." You can still occasionally see it on SNL or MadTV, but I grew up on Allan Sherman and Homer and Jethro, who did it very well. And that makes me very old.

Long Live Parody, long live Weird Al!

  • Spinal tap the movie didn't come out until 1984 and this was 1980 so unless he's referring to the medical procedure, probably not spinal tap

  • This is funny and I like Al, but it really proves that Billy Joel's songs are indeed original and catchy because this parody is funny and catchy because of Joel's melody.

  • Willy Roll?

  • I love both Billy Joel and Weird Al. Great parody!

  • i love billy joel and wierd al, its all in good fun

  • I know weird al is joking but im with billy joel he's the best, that song sucked, it wasn't very good singing

  • Cool video.

  • your guess is as good as mine though i want to say mindless crap

  • Al made it before he became really popular. I don't think now as a proffesional artist, Al would do this again but we all did stuff we are not proud of when we're younger......but it's still funny lol

  • Billy Joel is my favorite solo artist period. But this is funny, Weird Al is awesome

  • Acualy I think he asked permission for this song. He said himself that he has always asked. And if the artist didn't want him doing a parody of there song then he'd just forget about it. Plus you know Al only parodys really big hit songs, so it's actualy nice that he did this song. He didn't mean to really insult Billy. Al's a really nice guy! lol.

  • i have to agree with jedihunter80

  • i love weird al

  • I saw Billy Joel listening to a clip of this once - he wasn't too happy. Still - it's pretty funny - and if you're in the limelight you have to be ready for this type of hting.

  • As a matter of fact, Weird Al always asks the artist for permission before he does a spoof. (I admit that this is a very scathing song).

  • Of course, a song where he insults Billy is funnier than one where he compliments Billy (which would be boring). So what else could do?

  • Actually, I think this was one of the songs he did before he was really famous, so I dunno if he asked Billy Joel for this one.

You can tell it's old because the only instruments are the accordion, voice, and clapping.

  • whoa this is pretty critical. I wonder how Billy Joel took this, Wierd Al is really funny though , without being dirty.

  • What do you mean "what does it say"? What are you even asking?

  • He writes plenty of his own songs. Over half of his songs are written originally by him, lyrics and melody and everything.

And anyway, it's just a joke. It's not like he's starting a campaign against Billy Joel.

  • yes your so right. althought he said almost al of his original songs are done in the style of other artists. but yeah people its just a joke dont get upset =)

  • It's hard to decide who's more amazing - Weird Al or Billy Joel. I was a bit surprised at how blatantly critical he was, but I still love it almost as much as the original. Go Weird Al!

  • Billy Joel kicks Ass

  • By that logic, do you really have the "right" to criticize Weird Al? What have you ever done?

  • He isn't really making fun of Billy Joel. He only parodies songs he enjoys, lighten up.

  • I love this song lawl. "It's a big hit, isn't it, even if its a piece of JUNK!"

  • Nice find, never heard this one before.

  • no? this is from the old days- back when he was still a lil local guy playing on Doctor Demento

  • Holy Crap!!! Where did you get this song?!!!!

  • internet. gotta look 4 it, tho.

  • that...is so insightful and helpful. it's on the internet. *snort*

  • Billy Joel is the bomb!

  • NO BILLY JOEL IS AWESOME!

  • Al likes Billy Joel as well. Just because he wrote this parody doesn't mean he really thinks of Billy like this.

  • but what thats the third billy jor]e parody that hes done

  • This is actually the first. The second is the parody, "Ode To A Superhero."

Other than that, I can't remember another Billy Joel parody.

Also, Al has stated many times that his parodies are to be taken by the artists and public as homages. They are meant in respect to the original artists. That's why he asks permission to do parodies before he releases them.

  • If you count the muchmusic interview parody of Billy Joel.

  • I think this is a fairly accurate parody, comparing the lyrics. I found the "safety pin through the cheeks" part disturbingly hillarious.

  • Wow, now watch the weird al BJ interview!

  • hay man do you have Dr. D Superstar

  • Guess you're right KIKI *Chuckles a little bit*

  • Oh MKAnnihilate (Jake) Lighten up and laugh! Its just a song he doesn't mean it

  • ....Wow mean song! How could you Al?! I was your FRIEND!!!!!

  • hmmm...I wonder why this never made it to one of his albums?

  • Al thought it was 'dated' and 'joel wouldn't give permission for it'

  • Keyboards, guitar cords, even on a washboard, is still billy joel to me

  • "It's the big hit, isn't it even if it's a piece of JUNK!..." That part was great!

  • i thought it was great!

  • thanks for posting this vid!

  • amazed66, I dig BJ, but his music from pre-1980 was not as diverse as his later stuff.

  • I like his pre-80's stuff better

  • what pre-80s stuff!?

  • Billy joel's stuff before the 80's

  • I want this on my iPod. I only have a really bad qualty live version on it.

  • I bet Billy Joel wouldn't let him record it. This song is a bit insulting.

  • Weird Al always asks the original author first before ever recording, and if and when the artist say's no, then he doesn't do it. And for the record, he doesn't have to ask, he chooses to, according to the law he could pick any song and change the lyrics, but he chooses to be polite.

  • But remember that this is one of Al's really old songs, this was before he was a big name artist. I don't think he asked Joel for permission on this one.

  • Most artists are pretty accepting of a good laugh. I don't think bj would mind. The real reason it probably wasn't record it was probably because it really isn't his "style"... you know what i mean?

  • He has never officially released this song on any of his albums. I think it says a lot for Weird Al to have never released this song, even more than 20 years after recording the demo.

  • I know this was only meant as a joke and I'm certainly not taking it seriously but if there's one thing you can definitely say about Billy Joel, it's that his music doesn't all sound the same. Ironically what he was saying at the time in his own song is that no matter what you call contemporary music or how you dress it up, it's still rock n roll to him....a message I think that was lost on Weird Al. LOL

  • Or maybe Weird Al made this song simply for that strong irony?
