@jackileedance Dancers are weaklings who couldn't make it in the world of gymnastics so they decided to try something milder. Dancing is just an easy form of gymnastics. Its not ew, it's talent.
@PrimaGymnast47 woah. i didn't mean to offend anyone. i was just saying that i think rhythmic gymnasts are too flexible. and if u think dancers are weaklings you clearly haven't met a true dancer. paulina macias is a girl in gr 6. she is amazing! search up any of her solos and you will see a true dancer.
i wish that everyone in the world could be like that...i wish i could be like that. it already hurts my back to watch this video! im a gymnast and gymnasts are not nearly as flexible as rhythmic gymnasts...maybe some but it would be wonderful to be a rhythmic gymnast and a gymnast! :D
If we talk about ages in rhythmic gymnastics obviously the greatest one is Almudena Cid of Spain, 4 times olympic finalist, nor the russians, ukranians or bulgarians has managed to do it, watch her ribbon in the qualifications in beijing... Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008 =D
I've been fascinated by rhythmic gymnastics ever since I first saw them at the Olympics when I was a little girl. I think I have even more respect for the older girls that can still maintain that tremendous flexibility even after puberty. The children seem a bit gawky at times as they're still growing into their bodies - very fast and manic compared to an adult's grace and control. But I love the sport regardless!

you guys are all just jealous of our sport. it takes so much effort, and pain, and you need to have true passion for it, none of you would ever understand it, unless you were one of us.
Rhythmic gymnasts tend to be taller than artistic gymnasts. But are there rhythmic gymnasts who are 6 feet? Or can You be 6 feet to be a rhythmic gymnast?
girls tend to start rhythmic gymnastics or move from artistic to rhythmic when they are quite tall. kapronova for example i think is around 5'10. a 5'10 gymnasti would not work well on the bars for example in artistic gymnastics.
i know this from experience! i am 5'10 and artisitc is extremely difficult for a tall person so i stopped and moved to rhythmic!
i'm 5'6 and growing, and i'm an artistic gymnast, i'm literally taller than almost everyone at my gym.. i wanted to go rhythmic but there's no clubs near me for 50 miles :|
does rhythmics have any long term effects on you body? I doubt it could hurt you legs, as far as the hyperextended splits go, but i'm just wondering if any of the girls experience back pain due to the back bending involved.
I almost started rythmic gymnastics when I was 8 or 9...but there was nowhere to train up here in Alaska. I decided to stick to ballet whitch happens to now be my passion. RG is sooo amazing though if I did get into it at a young age I believe I would really enjoy it!

hey i've been doing rythimic for years and years last year i came second and country champ, rythmic is so not all about flexibilty at all!! i cant do the splits its about strength and core muscles and co-ordination the better your catches the high your mastery score so dont think its all about flexibilty!!
yes well when you go to the big comptetitions like kabaeva and tchachina it's going to be quite emberassing how all of those big gymnasts have such flexibility, and you might not... I'm not trying to insult you, I'm just stating pure facts.
sorry to all pf you who eally like this sport (I myself think it's absolutly beautiful!), but this cannot be healthy! I mean seriously, it can't be good for your body to be able to curl up like a little ball! And although it's maainly pretty, sometimes it looks really scary!

They don't train to be thin, it's just that after they train every day for 4+ hours and sooner or later your bound to lose weight. i know i started rhythmics a while ago and am competing, an after training every day for a week i lost a lot of weight and am pretty skinny. and also us rhythmic gymnast work on our strength twice as much as our flexibility so we are stronger than the average person and would have less back pain in the future. were not cutting our life short, but extending it longer
Sorry didnt mean to say train to be thin, but end up so thin.i dont dispute the loss of weight after so much training, but cant see how youre extending your life.Ballet dancers train just as hard, are flexible/strong,and 8/10 have bad hips, backs etc.i dont see how RG is any different?im not having a go.you are 11 right?you might not have thought about it coz youre young, but if you want children in the future your body will struggle to carry a child.i wish you all the luck in the world, and health.
i think its kind of gross how flexible they r...i am a regular gymnast but we r deffinently not that flexible!...how could they have bones and do that??
I love when they walk their legs around their head, its called the spider and its so cool looking. Actually, all of this is so cool looking. And I could have been one of them, but then I quit because I have a twisted vertebrae in my lower back, so I can't put my legs all the way over my head even if I really worked at it.
C' est vrai que c' est un sport super,j'adore faire de la gym

i don't know, it is a beautiful sport, that is true; but it looks like that girl who is training has anorexia, i think. but it is absolutely amazing !
its never too late to start RG.i started at 11 too (i'm still 11) but before going competitive i'm training my self. i stretch everyday for about 2hours, 1hour strength+ warm up, 1 hour stretching. i'm close to my scorpion and am improving my backcatches(catching ur laeg from behind). i can only do my left splits but am close on my right and middle. if you love RG and want to do it, then i say GO FOR IT! nothings impossible, just remember to be carefull there are risks when training by yourself.
You made your remark, accurately. Weight is used to exclude these particular athletes from certain team memberships. - A little know dark secret of their world- Nearly criminal.
no its not a shame.they're not anorexic.they are on strict diets but threy work out for 40 hours a week.they have muscles.they wouldn't be able to jump as high or put all of that presure on their bodies if they didn't have muscle.your remark is not accurate and not true.sorry.thats what happens when you strech ever day for about 8 hours.
you are right about the strict diets, but they actually have a lot of muscles. They don't just stretch, they also do about 200 sit-ups each day and pushups. That's how they make a full 360 turn with their leg in the air. duh.
I do not consider my self flexible any more, this is amazing!!! And everyone says I'm flexible!

do you think 11 yrs old can still do RG EVEN I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THE RIGHT AND BOTH SPLIT EVEN I CAN DO TYHE LEFT SPLIT?
Sophronia96 4 years ago
its never too late to start RG.i started at 11 too (i'm still 11) but before going competitive i'm training my self. i stretch everyday for about 2hours, 1hour strength+ warm up, 1 hour stretching. i'm close to my scorpion and am improving my backcatches(catching ur laeg from behind). i can only do my left splits but am close on my right and middle. if you love RG and want to do it, then i say GO FOR IT! nothings impossible, just remember to be carefull there are risks when training by yourself.

That's how they make a full 360 turn with their leg in the air. duh.

That is so cool. Respect to all the training they must do. Very impressive.

So are the girls in rythmic gymnastics naturally flexible in their backs as well as their feet? Or do they train to become like that?
JustPlainDancin 4 years ago
Yes their natural flexibility plus trainings help them to become excellent.
