  • i use the same cpu but set to default speeds and a radeon sapphire 4870 and it runs way faster than the one in this video....

what im trying to say is that if you have a very good gpu you dont need to OC your cpu.

  • @sergiukawa

    This is a 4850 man.

  • @toutagamon

    i know...

but the q6600 is set at 3200mhz.

your 3200mhz and 4850 run slower than my 2400mhz 4870.

i will repeat myself...it seems you didnt read right.

IF YOU HAVE A VERY GOOD GPU YOU DONT NEED TO OC YOUR CPU

  • @sergiukawa

Umm..you got it all wrong man. I think you don't grasp what cpu limits and gpu limits are.

So by your statement, you thing that if you install a GTX 580 on YOUR system, Call of Duty Black ops, will run fine? If you think so, you can't be more wrong. Try googling "black ops techspot" and go to page #8 to see the cpu results.

All in all you need a strong cpu to accompany a strong gpu. As for this vid, the game was gpu limited obviously.

  • haha. you have a great computer and all that but you don't use fraps?

  • ZOMFG do you know how disturbing it is to read comments like that? What the fuck do I have to do, to make people understand that FRAPS IS NOT FIT TO SHOW THE FUCKING PERFORMANCE?

Fraps recordings are only good to showcase the gameplay and the graphics, since it produces better image quality.

YOU NEED a camera though, if you want to show PURE performance without any other factors hindering it, ie recording with FRAPS!

  • Woah chill. I thought this was just going to be a high quality GAMEPLAY video is all. Whatever, its not like I was dissing you for not using it. I just hate cam videos I guess because the sound and colors get fucked up.

  • did you changed your q6600 cooler?cause i have it and thats i am gonna do right now...it really sucks

  • I never use stock coolers. They always suck when it comes to overclocking!

  • wow..she 's awesome...anyways nice rig u got there..what power supply have u got there?

  • It was an old superflower 550Watt.

  • oh cool..that means i will no prob with the power..thx dude

  • whats that chick's name! the one on ur wallpaper

  • Dunno!

  • Rebecca Romijn! shame on you both of you! :ppp

  • wtf? Is that her? I didn't recognise her!

Regarding your monitor selection, in your other comment, I think that a 4850 1GB could successfully drive a 24'' 1920x1200 monitor, if you are not a very demanding person that is.

I have uploaded quite a few 4850 512MB videos at 1920x1080 that could help you get a better idea. Unfortunately I didn't have a HD camera back then, so you may want to see my 4770 videos instead. It's pretty much the same thing, performance wise! ;)

  • hehe ya its her what a freakin sexy 180cm chick ;)

and thx man i appreciate it!

  • i've noticed sth that u have quad but i have C2D 2.66, are you sure i can run 24" monitors with my GPU and CPU ???

  • I said "if you are not a very demanding person"! :P

So you have an E6700 or what? You can always overclock you cpu a bit. I bet you can hit 3.0Ghz with no voltage increase at all!

  • i have e7300 2.66 now what do you mean by demanding, you mean it will work without everything maxed out!! it yes it will sux BTW :(

  • Overall it will be a decent system. Don't worry too much! ;)

  • lol i was looking for such comment on my PC after what i paid!! thx xD

  • what programs u use to see those specs i wanna know mine

  • Cpuz, gpuz, GPU caps viewer etc.

  • lol forget, i didnt saw fraps running :)

  • how much fps?

  • oooooooo my godªªª!!!

this freakien game is so scary i swear!!!!

    XD

no it is scary i got scared i saw it in my room at 3 in the morning!!!!

  • does the 4850 need a PSU ?

  • Woot?

They haven't yet discovered computer components not requiring a PSU!

  • you know what i mean.. obviously it requires power, but i mean from an external, stronger source. like my 4600Ti just plugs in, no extra power.

  • Oh ok. You didn't explain it properly. Yes i understood what you meant though. I was just teasing.:P

Yes the 4850 requires a 6pin power connector.;)

  • discoverd LOL, you mean invented hehe, its not a animal they trying to discover

  • I stand corrected!

Still, I am entitled to some mistakes since English is not my native language, right?

  • ehe english isnt my native language to

  • Too not to!

Heheh, the score is 1-1! LOL!

  • hehe wooot

  • How Much Can U Overclock Q6600 Without Getting Better Cooler Mines @ 2.4ghz

  • Better than what?

Never tryed overclocking it without the Thermalright Ultra 120!

  • what does Vsync do?

  • i just hate when those things appear suddenly =X

  • That's the point of the game! To make you piss yourself, lol!

  • Vsync: OFF???

  • Yes off! How else could the framerate be shown? With vsync on, it would be capped to the screen refresh rate, meaning 60 frames per second.

  • + FRAPS and you have 30 FPS :)

  • highly optimized game. i wish more games were like this.

  • Yeah, me too!

  • Yeah\, look at gta iv - its bad optimalized ;(

  • I've got nearly the same specs as you sir!

    E8400@3.6ghz

    gigabyte ep45-ud3r

    ati 4850

    Subscribed!

  • Yeap! As you should! You got a nice setup there!

  • What is you motherboard ?

  • For this video it was a DFI Lanparty DK P45-T2RS Plus. You can see a video of it, in my videos.

  • i have 9800gtx+

    core 2 duo 3.0 oc to 3.6

    3gb ram

p5-n-e sli (dosent suports pcie 2.0)

do u think i can play whit the same fps?

  • Yes you will be fine! Actually the 9800GTX+ is a bit better than the 4850 in that game!

  • same setup here, ill post a vid as soon as ive got the game. running in vista x64 and 6Gb ram

  • Nice man. Im thinking about getting the same card and cpu. Im gonna be building a PC soon.

  • That would be a good choice. I'd suggest the 4870 though.

  • Nice benchmarking! I have a q6600 as well and I want to upgrade my 8800gt to a GTX 260...or maybe a 280. I plan on running this game at my native res which is 1680x1050. Do you think I'll be able to run this game well with maxed out settings at that res, and with stock CPU settings?

Also, how did you get the FPS to display on the top right corner of your screen, I'd like to check mine in that game.

  • Thanks mate. I have actually tested this demo on GTX 295 and it seemed to me that the second GPU was off. Exactly the same with my X2 card. So since GTX 295's gpu's are in between the GTX 260's and GTX 280's i guess the game will run very well whichever you get.

Having a perfectly good Q6600 and keeping at stock speed, is a sin though!:P

Trust me, for the GTX 260 or GTX 280, more CPU Mhz will matter. If you wanted a 9600GT then i would say keep the CPU as is. But now is say OC the bastard! :P

  • Ok, I wouldn't mind OCing my q6600 to 3.0 or 3.2ghz, but do you think those speeds will help a lot, or a little? in other words, how much of a bottleneck would a stock q6600 be to a gtx 260 or 280?

  • You will notice a considerable difference. Don't take my word for it though. Once you get the card, do your own testing and see for yourself.

3.2Ghz would be the sweet spot for these cards.

I will give you an example. Crysis benchmark DX9 1680x1050 gives me 58fps with the cpu at 4.1Ghz. Do you know how much it gives with the cpu at stock speed (note that the Q9550 has a not too shabby stock speed of 2.93Ghz)? It gives me 40fps! That's right! 40fps vs 58fps! Ok,higher settings less difference!

  • ya but i don't think any game except crysis need a 280 to run smoothly these days. i have a 4870 and it is doing real good for me right now. it can handle any game maxed out for me. it's cheaper than 260 too

  • He was using Fraps to display FPS.

  • Oh yes, that too! I forgot to answer about that!

Use fraps and from the settings you can sellect at which corner you want the dispay. Either that or press F12 (default) while you are playing to change the corner on the fly.

I think ATI Tool displays the framerate too!

  • is ure cpu water cool or air coo?

    also whatss ure vcore voltage?

  • The cpu is air cooled with a Thermalright Ultra 120. The core voltage is 1.336V.

The same CPU needed 1.475 on my previous P965 based mobo. Yes P45 rocks!

  • shit man i need almost 1.45 to run my q6600 on 3.0ghz air cooling on my P5k

  • creepy as fuck as always

  • What memory and motherboard u have there guy?

  • A DFI-P45 and 4Gigs of ram.

  • orsum so glad this is gonna run on my new rig if it will hurry up and get here that is :\

  • nice, i have e8400 oc to 3.6 and a 9800gtx+, do u think i can run the same spects than you?

  • Yes, easily!:)

  • how you you like fear 2 so for

  • It is very good. Not so technologically advanced, compared to the old FEAR, but still a very a nice game. It's gameplay we are interested anyway, right! ;)

  • Nice video man,you have a beast setup,sic game!

  • Thanks man!

  • Oh hey toutagamon, what is it you do lol? I want to do whatever it is you do, I want a machine like the ones you have :)

  • Dude, thats fucking insane for a 4850. Now I know Im making a good choice getting a 4870 :). Thx Toutagamon, I love your videos!

  • Yes the 4870 is much better!

  • I just played this on an ATI HD 3850 and got just about the same results =D go ATI!

  • At what res?

  • ok how many times have you played through this demo? didnt see or hear any signs of fear from you!

you have an awesome rig, i have a 4870 1GB myself and i love it!

  • You are very very observant my friend! I did play it one more time before recording. I pissed my pants the firts one! lol

  • same here!

  • I ran it on my system ( I7, 4870X2, 6GB DDR3, vista 32) and I got alot of stuttering?

    did enyone else get this?

  • Nope. I run it on my 4870X2 too and it run just fine. Quite better than my 4850 but still not what you would expect from a 4870X2 card.

I think it's the demo because i run it on a friend's GTX295 and it run exactly the same!

  • I've got the same on my 8800 GTS 512.

    Nice vid.

  • Thanks mate. I might get a GTX 295 myself. It will cost nearly nothing since i have a credit in a local store.

  • Impressive...nearly 60 fps average! ATI 4850 is a definitely strong card for this. :)

  • Yes i expected less to tell the truth but the 4850 impressed me yet again.

  • as always 5/5 bro. Keep up the good work

  • Thanks mate!

  • ATI FTW :)

  • agreed !

    team red for life !

  • Errrmm....i might be getting a GTX 295. I hope you guys don't mind. :(

I will keep my 4870X2 of course but i will sell my 4850!

I think it's not bad to have the best of both worlds right?

  • dang man, wow ... going to team blue and green hahhah

nah its kewl dude its your choice. The drivers for the GTX 295 are already better than the 4000-series cards anyways.

Team Red is pretty notorious for not having great drivers while team Green pushes out new drivers frequently for the most part.

  • I already used a friends GTX 295 on my Q9550@4.1Ghz machine. I was indeed impressed but i got a lot of crashes. So no the drivers are not better. The card though is better than the 4870X2. Not too much!

  • From what my buddy, (who used to work for Microsoft but quit for a change in lifestyle), told me.

The 4870X2 is almost at its peak in drivers, but not quit there yet as it still isn't working how it should.

He said something about unlocking its real potential once the drivers mature a little more in utilizing both GPU's to work in harmony with each other.

As it's currentely not working together how they should. He said thats only IF ATI steps it up and works on it after kicking the kinks.

  • From what i hear, the 4995X2 based on the 40nm rv790,will be released in a while, so whatever ATI plans to do, they'd better do it quick! :)

  • hehheh yes thats what im waiting for, I was about to order the 4870X2 a week or two ago when I saw this on a random forum.

Nvidia has some 40nm GPU's as well on the way, due around the same time as ATi if im not mistaken.

You know what that means toutagamon.

Oh yes, lowered temps, and more overclocking room ... Gotta love it

  • Yeap! :D

  • Do you know if the first batch of 40nm GPU's will have DX11 ? Or will they stay with DX10 till closer to Windows 7's launch ?

  • the GTX 300 is a DX11 GDDR5 40nm GPU expected in Q4 2009, W7 will be released shortly after.

  • I guess the first batch will remain compatible to todays standards. The first DX11 cards will be launched prior to windows 7 launch. GT 300 and rv870 are the speculated codenames!

  • Wow 4850 is awesome, smooth as hell lol

  • how are the drivers for the 4850?

  • They are great! Never had a problem since i got it.

  • the 4850 roks lol

  • No other card has impressed me that much, ever. Not even my 4870X2.:)
