@gkraz the bear is more powerful then the cougar but cougars are tough and would of still put up a good fight, the bear wouldn't have gotten away unscathed and it probably didn't want to risk getting injured for a little bit of food, if it was starving it might of went for it but it probably wasn't starving and wasn't ready to risk injury for food.
You cant see much from the bite it did to the head, but im sure under the fur the skin wasn't in very good shape after that.

I've watched alot of videos there's alot of tigers killing bears but they're mostly sloth bears which are one of the smaller breeds. Polar bears and kodiak bears have the record as the largest land carnivores today. weighing 350–680 kg (770-1500 lbs). And also can be up to 10 feet in height while standing.

The thing is bears can be bluffed very easily and watching this video proves that. If you watch that clip with the grizzly and the puma the bear isnt even fighting back.

Are you saying that a tiger could kill a over a ton brown bear. Fight between a brown bear and Siberian tiger(which is the biggest big cat on the planet) are rare, but even when fights occur the bear usually eats the tiger.
For those of you that don't know, the video clip with the bear and the "mother" cougar is a staged film clip for the "Wild America" film series. It's ;lucky for the cougar that it was staged since the cougar would be no match for the bear. Cougars act and sound very ficious but would not fight a large bear, particularly a grizzly becuase it knows it would lose.

I live in Alaska. In Juneau, near Admiralty Island which happens to have the worlds largest concentration of Brown Bears. In all honestly I think bears have amazing strength, and sheer killing power but they are almost all passive and non violent... They are omnivores not only carnivores....

There is a vido on YouTube titled "Bear vs Puma." You can see it by typing in ?v=E-ByFy5pGdA. It shows a cougar trying to scare a black bear away from it's food but the black bear chased it away which is a realistic scenario.
I've seen video after video of big cats messing with young, tiny bears. What I'd love to see is a cougar or tiger try the same thing on a 2,000 pound kodiak, dead cat.

There is absolutely no winner nor power struggle between predators in the wild. Its always the battlegrounds that determines who wins a hunt or a fight. Example: a deer wont care if the croc is there with him in a field. But in the river, the deer stands no chance. The panther here had the upper hand coz the bear was almost on the cliff of a steep hill. A cougar would lose to wolf only coz wolves roam & live in packs. A cougar could survive such ordeal if there was a treee for her to climb!
The hill wasn't that steep buddy... and a cougar can kill a wolf one on one. Wolves sometimes can be outcast and solitary for a little while, get your facts straight.

@tazss159 uhm the current olympic weightlift record is 473 kg and even that is summed up from 2 different events: snatch, and (clean and jerk). the heaviest clean and jerk is 263.5 kg . so i think you are mistaken for pounds.... also real weightlifters are stronger than bodybuilders....

@tazss159 what the hell makes you think a lion and a cougar are about the same strenght?? a male cougar weighs on average around 62 kg, a female lion on average 126kg and a male lion on average 181. so a lion is on average 2-3 times heavier than a cougar and therefore also a lot stronger.

@tazss159 i wasnt angry. just a little mixture of suprise and anoyance that you didnt knew something that obvious. well the strenght of a animal is not depending of its weight. is is simply depending on how how much muscle it has and how strong those muscles are. however since muscle tissue weighs a lot you can determine the difference in strenght between animals by simply looking how much do they weigh in comparison to size and amount of fat. next comment will have a example

That's why fighting sports have weight classes. But all ya'll too serious... My money is on tekken's kuma avenging all them bears.

@tazss159 if 2 animals weigh nearly the same. and are roughly the same size. you would expect them to be about the same strenght, however if 1 animal has about 5% bodyfat, and the other 30%. then the first has more muscles in relation to size and weight. and then you can expect that the first is also stronger. this doesn't mean however that the first would also win in a fight.

@msella80 Yea i agree. A lot of bears are no where near as aggressive as a puma. If an adult grizzly bear wanted to kill a puma it easily could. The thing is bears can be bluffed very easily and watching this video proves that. If you watch that clip with the grizzly and the puma the bear isnt even fighting back.

Are you saying that a tiger could kill a over a ton brown bear. Fight between a brown bear and Siberian tiger(which is the biggest big cat on the planet) are rare, but even when fights occur the bear usually eats the tiger.

For those of you that don't know, the video clip with the bear and the "mother" cougar is a staged film clip for the "Wild America" film series. It's ;lucky for the cougar that it was staged since the cougar would be no match for the bear. Cougars act and sound very ficious but would not fight a large bear, particularly a grizzly becuase it knows it would lose.

its clear that the bear is twice as big as the cougar and obviously more powerful, but in the animal kingdom, its half strength and half presentation when it comes to conflicts. in this case the momma cougar was just much more aggressive, and needed to be in order to protect her young. kudos to momma cougar

I live in Alaska. In Juneau, near Admiralty Island which happens to have the worlds largest concentration of Brown Bears. In all honestly I think bears have amazing strength, and sheer killing power but they are almost all passive and non violent... They are omnivores not only carnivores....

Anyone who knows about animals and has at least a lick of common sense knows that a cougar is not capable of beating a full grown black bear much less a brown bear. I have seen cougars run away from bears many times, as they should. This video does not show what ordinarily happens. For instance, the shot between the brown bear and the cougar is a staged confrontation with a trained bear. Let's get real.
