its hard to believe eddie went back onto this mook's show in 2010. in this interview it's apparent that dave letterman doesn't think much of murphy, personally, as in, has very little respect for him.

Eddie was right to fear doing bad movies........sadly, he now does MANY more of them then good ones, and whether or not he realizes it, he is slowly killing whatever 'reputation' he now has left.

Then again, I'm sure he doesn't care any more........as long as he's able to collect a big, fat paycheck....

Eddie isn't kissing up to Dave. He's doing what he wants and running with it. The only time Letterman is ever entertaining is when he has guests that clearly don't like him like Eddie and Crispin Glover.

Eddie is being a dick in this interview (& Im an Eddie Murphy fan dont get me wrong).

If you watch an interview he did with Arsenio (I assume one of his best friends at the time) They joke about how bad guests always give one word answers.

This is what eddie appears to be doing here as Late night and Arsenios show were somewhat rivals...

I don't see that...I do think his music threw the whole interview off, because Dave wasn't prepared to ask him serious questions about music...That part was odd. Arsenio was a much better interviewer, because he was more personable with folks...Dave has always been off-beat. Eddie was cool...

I am really enjoying Jimmy Kimmel lately though. He is probably the best late night interviewer now...

Letterman is just drilling him with stern questions. Arsenio and other interviewers are more laidback and let the guest relax. Letterman is always like this or he's making wisecracks at the guest's expense

After reading the comments about my original comment I do have to reassess my thoughts on this. Eddie actually deals with Letterman really well and is still funny, he does seem a little uncomfortable at times but when his manager and the MTV guy come out Lettman and Eddie really shine...

I agree. I think most guests just ignore the fact that Letterman's schtick is being kind of a jerk. So I love when guests (usually comedians) play on that. Or try to out-jerk him.

@oxx I've liked the guy since I started watching him when he switched to CBS but you can see how he can be a jerk sometimes with backhanded comments. No more worse than any of us in our bad moments or who have personal problems with an individual. It's just fans of that person he's being snide towards get turned off by him because of that, the fan boys and girls. Letterman's the shit.
