The DTL finish here is more like Montgomerie's (or like the pre-Leadbetter Faldo) than like Faldo at his peak. Really have no idea what to make of that.
This, as other swings I've seen from him in the past 15 years or so, seems to be notably more upright than during his peak years. That's not a merely academic observation, either. When he started working with Lead it was specifically to round and shallow out his swing and his angle of approach into the ball; what he's done since then seems to me to be a return to something like he was doing before (which, to be sure, wasn't entirely unsuccessful, with his talent).
Compare with this one, for instance, or anything in '88-'89 (you see it more in the finish, but it's also at the top): watch?v=P9QaVlCP6w4 (add YT prefix)
Naturally, he still gets that right elbow tucked and shallows the plane a little on the downswing even in the more current version, and I'm sure he hits it mostly fine. But when the plane gets more upright, it does change the relationship of arms-hands-club to the rotational motion of the body.
Maybe he struggled when not with leadbetter (although he holed everything in that tournament) Some of the best golf i have of his is the 89 suntory matchplay. Awesome. have you got any more footage of tournament wins or ideas about the changes in his swing? i thought from 94 onwards he really moved away from what worked during 88-92
Faldo has been a hero of mine for the last 20 years and i have a quite a bit of footage of majors between 88 and 92 and i would love to ask him why he didn't stick with the drills and swing thoughts he had from spring to late summer 1992. After that things seemed to change, i've seen the 92 match play and his swing was short, flat and laid off totally different to how he swung it in july. I just dont get it.

But it looks like he returned to what worked during that period with these swings
