@R1DIKAL By the way, if Hitler just went around Stalingrad and captured Moscow the USSR would have fallen and all of their industry would have been Germany's. Thus probably evening out the match between them and the USA. If this ever happened the war would have lasted much longer than until may 1945, and if this were the case Germany would have developed a nuclear bomb, putting America and Germany at a stale mate resembling Russia after ww2. Good thing he was high on meth, or else.
dudes if i was the us army, i would have attacked hitler with an f-22 raptor and like a uav dudes. gnarly, totally radical b-2 bomber too ! my vids prove everything i say is rad !
You have to remember, by this point in the war, Germany was already losing the war, they really make D-Day sound bigger than it actually was. It was going to be a success regardless.
that is actually not true if hitler was around to order the tiger tank battalions in while they were still landing it would have been a different story. Hitler put himself in total command of the reserve tank batallions waiting a few miles inland. But he was no where to be found to give the greenlight to send them into combat and of course none of the commanders had the courage to give the order without him.
For Christ's sake, how did a bunch of boys .... Boys! ... from Iowa, New Jersey, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Manchester, Birmingham, get through that? It's sickening to think about it.
@yamsid A lot of those boys didn't get through. Omaha was so covered with dead that you could walk from one end of the beach to another without stepping on sand. The combination of Fortitude, the mulberries, and the fact that the landing was conducted on an 8 division front meant that german reserves were distant, and could not be concentrated against the landings.
@Nztimr33 What happens is, the blimbs float there in the atmosphere and are anchored to the ground with extremely small razor sharp wires that because of their size and the speed of the aircraft were practically invisible. The plane would fly through and those wires would catch on the wings, the tail, and the propellers. Effectively crippling the aircraft then bringing a lightly armed hydrogen (flammable and volatile gas) blimp down on them. They were immensely effective.
minefields and cheaper defenses like the Russians used at Kursk, would have been better than the ad-hoc bunkers seen in most of the Southern wall..the bunker, well concrete would have been used to fortify the airfields with bomb-proof shelters and workshops like the uboots used..not on the same massive scale(planes are smaller of course), but protecting the planes on the ground would have been a better choice than housing 1-3 artillery pieces.
