Awesome stuff! I have a VERY similar setup (i.e. dual HDHR, TWC, schedulesdirect, etc)... but I am just learning how to set it all up. Your Mythweb -> TV -> Channel Info page looks great after a scan, but mine looks terrible. Only a couple channels (out of 40ish) actually get mapped to an xmltvid. Is that right? Do I really need to watch all of the channels to figure out what they are? Thanks!!! Your videos for Backend Setup are fantastic.
@zippohippo123 Unfortunately watching the channels is the best way to get the information. Most of the channels in my MythWeb have information from importing directly from schedulesdirect. I took my time and set up all of the channels I do and don't have on SD and then just imported all of the information. It is an option when setting up the source to import rather than do a scan. This will probably be easier so long as SD is all set up.
@xrothgarx hey, I totally agree that carefully selecting the channels in SD is the way to success. I've done that already. Forgive my ignorance, but you mentioned the word "import" several times in your response... I see the option to Import something called channels.conf instead of doing a scan... is that what you mean? Or are you suggesting that there is something else to import? And how do I generate channels.conf, if that is what is needed? [sigh.. confused] Many thanks!
@zippohippo123 Sorry for not replying sooner. The "import" I was talking about is on the same screen as the channel scan you but you can download channels from schedules direct rather than scanning for channels. I would send you a screenshot but unfortunately I don't actually have a MythTV system up and running right now cause I just recently moved. The idea is that instead of scanning to find all your channels you can just tell MythTV what channels you have from SD. I hope that helps.
Import?
