  • Because my Dad's the only one who can drive in our family, usually, when we're on a long drive, one of us tries to stay awake with him to make sure he's alright. Most of the time, when he's tired, he knows when (and where) to stop.

Doesn't stop these adverts from being bloody terrifying though.

  • my brother once fell asleep while riding a motorbike n then he fell .good thing there was no crash or anything. n he had no injuries.

  • @Devilconsumer I'm not the one who invented the "women are bad drivers thing". I'm saying that it's not true, and that women are bad drivers is sexist

  • just drink coffee!

  • Wait to go dad. And they say women are bad drivers

  • @girlofgaga63 Anyone can be a bad driver.

  • I think this is a very relevant advert. When it was on a few years ago it certainly had an impact on me and made me rethink my driving habits. Those people who say its imposable to fall asleep while driving are idiots. It can happen to anyone.

  • hum reminds of of the simpson episode the one where homer was workin 2 jobs 1 @ the power plant+ 1 @ apu's store so he could pay 4 lisa's horse.

  • Lesson learned. Don't be stupid.

  • A car is a weapon attend the traffic offenders course u will soon reliase to drive is a priviledge!!!!!

  • lol he was sleep driving at the end the wheel was still turning

  • They should have had a better build up and not shown the crash but simply have implied it I think.

  • Useful tip - Take a coffee from EXPEC basement coffee bar before setting off

  • I can't believe anyone is stupid enough to actually fall asleep while DRIVING. Whoever does that DESERVES to crash!

I've stayed awake 3 days in a row, and I would never fall asleep while driving..

  • I'm not sure if this is satire or not.

  • The fact that you have to sleep at all is a good indicator that it's not entirely up to you what you do.

It's not like he was behind the wheel and thought 'Gee, now is a good time to see if I can operate a vehicle by using the Force'. When you need energy, you get hungry, when you're dehydrated you drink... when you're tired, your body will shut down. That's life.

  • If you have the willpower.. you can keep yourself up. Plus, I wouldn't exactly advise anyone to drive if they were up 3 days as you can collapse (which is different to falling asleep), but it's amazing how the majority of these fatigue crashes are caused by someone who's up only a few hours after their bedtime or were up all night at a party.

  • @Letcherism That's exactly what the driver who caused the Great Heck rail crash thought

  • That guy was a complete prick. Stayed up all night to chat to some woman on the net or something wasn't it?

  • @wuzzlevideos Yeah. In court he said he is used to staying up for days on end, etc. Fell asleep, went down an embankment and ended up parked infront of a freight train and high speed passenger train

  • @Letcherism What were you doing? Playing video games or watching porn for 3 days in a row.

  • @Letcherism I don't know what kind of work you have, but in some cases, it's normal to be tired while driving. but it's not ok if you're dumb enough to continue driving without stopping and just rest.

  • @Letcherism idiot

  • Very realistic! One of THINK!'s best ones yet!

  • tards like this who cause a fucking 2 hour traffic jam

  • Comment removed

  • That's a little oversimplified, don't you think? Ever think they could have knocked their heads on the side of the structure of the car? Or snapped his neck or something with the forces?

  • maybe...but it was more likely...

  • If i hit you with a crowbar, you couldnt die because the crowbar wouldnt break?!

  • you have got the wrong idea...people usually die in crashes because there car is so damaged that it would crush and kill them...but that car was not very damaged as it still worked...

  • Sure, but the decrease of speed could be enough to kill you, internal damage to organs

  • no, no, no.... the speed decreaced slowly enough for you to have survived that... did you not see it skid along on it's roof???

  • i did, did you how the car landed after i jumped into the air? And this is on tv not a real accident.. Most accident happen on the smaller roads, but houses, poles, concrete blocks and tree all around you, and other cars/bike too!

  • no im not on about accidents in real life...duh...i was saying about this advert that he wouldn't have died as he never hit anything that decreaced his speed enough to kill him...plus his car did'nt crush up enough to squish him...basicly my conclusion is; be more realistic as he wouldn't have died...

  • Hitting your head at 30kmp could kill you instantly, how would you wheter his head didnt hit anything at all? Its all about opinions..

  • well how could his head hit anything, as he was wearing a seatbelt...

  • You can move sideways as well as forwards, you know.

And your body can fall from the seat a bit if you go on your roof...

  • well...even so...the roof of a cr is a bit squishy...plus you dont bang your head as much when you wear a seatbelt, so the maximum damage to him would be brain damage...

  • yes, you're right! just make the speed decreace slowly enough during the accident, instead of pulling over to make some rest! that will do the trick!

  • huh? are you on my side or not?

  • Mate, it's not about taking sides. When I read such conversations like yours, it makes me wonder how on earth people can miss the message on such simple movie.

The main idea is to avoid situations that can lead one to such as the one shown above. The question of whether he could die in this movie or not is absolutely irrelevant here.

And both of you are right - it is possible, that nothing happened to him, and it is possible that he died. The conversation won't end as you can't prove anything.

  • I love you.

  • crashing a car while asleep is an EXTREME ALARM CLOCK

  • that could have been me once! luckily I hit some cones and woke up!

  • lol thats an unavoidable thing sometimes.

  • it is avoidable...just dont go into the car

  • That's why there's roadside turnouts every 5 kilometers. I've had to use them a couple times, pull over, sleep for a half hour, good to go. That is, (roadside turnouts) where I live.

  • ...or sleep.

  • That narrator sounded alot like Laurence Fishbourne AKA Morpheous from Matrix!

  • "Don't Drive Tired" it says. In the 1970's, a PIF on the same lines used the description "Driver Fatigue". Modern PIF's are OK, but the old ones are far better. These new ones are too slick by half. Mike S.

  • This reminds me of when my dad feel asleep while driving. Luckily he didn't crash because another driver in the next lane honked his horn waking him up. :S

  • I think Blooman has trouble on adme because he can't read Russian. Also, the adverts in the galleries require you to sign in before you can download them. That's dodgy.

  • Yeah, I had to get it from adme because the link on the Think! website is broken, but adme is now subscription based, sadly. There are a lot of good ads on there so it's a shame :(

  • This is the response to Selby, really, isn't it?

  • Bahaha. I'm not sure, actually. Any ideas when this one was first shown? Think! was thrust upon us in 2001, was it not?

  • Where did you get this video from? There is a Don't Drive Tired video on the official website, but it's different to this and the only one.

  • Everytime I try and reply to this, it doesn't work! I got it from adme dot ru - the original link on the Think! website was broken at the time (to the mpeg)

  • Ah, that one worked :)

  • You can also get it from TellyAds.

  • :O Its A Bit Chilly - Close The Door

  • If you're green, don't drive at night.

  • lol..

  • For some reason, this one used to keep me up at nights. I'm surprised I had the balls to watch it again, and I'll do pretty much anything. I'm glad I did, though, because now it just seems tame and I feel like a wanker.

  • Ahh bless, loafofpint your not a wanker that just means it left an impression on you. :-)

  • ...dont be silly and call yourself names...you are not a wanker...

  • In any event, driver fatigue ads are a rarity on Canada. The main focus is putting a stop to drink driving.

  • Oh, you've got this one. I first saw it on the Think! website.

  • Wait, really? Maybe I missed it when I looked (see comment on TAC Fatigue advert)
