  • @mrtibbs1692 I was pleasantly suprised at your knowlege of Jim Bridger as many present day Americans don't anything about him or any of the mountain men.As a point of interest Jedediah Smith was a distant relative of mine.

  • his name was webber he forgot bout the mexican that no 1 will never know

  • Custer wasn't exactly the brightest.

  • Great song.

    Johnny Horton was good.

    Thanks for posting this.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • A short list of my childhood Hero's: Jim Bridger, William Travis, Davy Crocket, and Jim Bowie. Who are the current childhood Hero's? Anyone know?

  • @Hotrodluvmut1 50 cent, Russell Simmons, Hugh Hefner, etc. Drug dealers, pimps, thieves. Sad, isn't it?

  • love it .

    Scott & cindy

  • I used to be a Frontiersman, but then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • This one is awesome...very, very touching!

  • Roots

  • Jim Bridger. Man what a magical name, since himself made bridges between the civilizations...

  • Nice song. Nice video.

  • He fought for a good cause. Sorry....

  • Hey you dumb butts Custer was respected by the Cheyenne bore a son. I know the Custer family and my family fought against him in the civil war. So learn some history before makeing dumb ass remarks. His body was not touched due to the Cheyenne women consider him family no Ogla or Arapaho or any plains tribes desicrated his body. Thanks to Johnny Horton he brings some history through his song. So if you want truth visit Monroe County Museum where alot of his stuff is and Little Big Horn.

  • Johnny Horton is fantastic!

  • Now I will tell you buster that I ain't a fan of Custer

And the General he don't ride well anymore

To some he was a hero but to me his score was zero

And the General he don't ride well anymore

Now Custer done his fightin' without too much excitin'

And the General he don't ride well anymore

General Custer come in pumpin' when the men were out a huntin'

But the General he don't ride well anymore

With victories he was swimmin' he killed children dogs and women

    - "Custer" recorded by Johnny Cash

  • @ZoneFighter Cash, himself a halfbreed.

  • @talochIV just what Cash are you talking about being a halfbreed????????????

  • best line in this song " at little big horn custer died" Sioux nation forever!!!!!!!!!! Custer was a coward and took his own life at Little Big Horn. I feel so sorry for the men of the seventh calavery, but piss on custer

  • @shadow3316 And DOUBLY piss on the sorry, backward redskins who had the whole continent to themselves and never did a damned thing with it. You snooze, you LOOSE, Tonto!

  • @talochIV Your name must be Mr. Asshole. I suppose you believe Israel deserved what they got to. Fucking thieves !

  • Thanks for the memories and an awesome song! Love this!

  • i love this song native americans rock

  • I LOVE THIS !!!

  • A real Montana hero!

  • damn this song rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! classic country like johnny horton WILL NEVER DIE!!!!!!!!

  • There will never be a long about carter, clinton, or obama, like this.

  • @ArticleTen that's true enough!

  • Acualy he could write his name. In wyoming him and some other mountain men signed some exposed rock on the side of a hill.

  • I remember this song when i was a young lad. A real good history lesson in a song.

  • @MegaTravis9 'Except for the short shrift that it gives to General Custer. If only he'd had the humility to wait for the tiny bit of help that he needed to prevail against the savages. Who can know where this would have led? Certainly to a cleaner, more civilized 20th Century. Go with God, Sir. There'll be another round.

  • @talochIV "Savages", you probably think what happened to the Native Americans is okay right? If so, you'd steal from your own friends and family, scum.

  • @taylordavis1234567 I never use the term, "native Americans". It's nonsensical. Firstly, no homo sapien is native to this continent. The species migrated here, Secondly, the land did not become "America" until the British and Europeans moved in and civilized it, supplanting the neolithics who'd previously had it to themselves.

  • If we forget Israel, let us forget our right hand.

  • @talochIV Are you kidding me? You think that sorry, good for nothing Custer was in the right? How arrogant are you? Let me give you a history lession, Custer only wanted the gold out of the Black Hills, He was tresspassing on Indian Land, and he was warned not to cross the river. There was not back up waiting or coming because he was not supposed to be there. I don't blame the men who were good soldiers for following him, even though most of them did not like nor respect Custer,

  • @shadow3316 Custer only wanted the gold? And what's wrong with that? What were the indians going to do, sell it to the tourists? America was on the move, back then and take what She wanted, God bless Her. only wish that She still had such clarity of purpose. If She did, do you suppose She'd have taken 10 years to bring the arabs to heel and that Americans would being bled white to pay for a commodity that we discovered and developed for people too stupid to even realize its' existence?

  • @talochIV And just like Rome America will fall from her greed and selfishness. Enjoy it while you can. You are on your way out !!

  • @soundmethod hay we=hen america go the going whit it and you juge a cuntye on on pepaly not the rica

  • @SuperZilla12 Did you just call me a cunt?

  • @soundmethod know american dont use that word and i think it an in saut and no and am sorry if i offend you

  • @soundmethod What country are you from cause America may not be perfect however it is better than alot of countries

  • @minecraft19wins but its also worse than lot of them:)

  • @shadow3316 If so, I pity you. And as for the foot soldiers not respecting General Custer, that's not surprising. Patton and Sherman never won any popularity contests, either, but America never produced better, more effective soldiers, which is saying one hell of a lot. See you on the other side, George. WE get it, even if nobody else does, or has the guts to admit that they do.

  • Respond to this video... Lastly, as for Custer taking his own life to keep from falling into the hands of the savages, this only shows that he lived in the real world. A genuine "coward" would have held out the vain hope of escaping from or being granted mercy by the proto-men that he, unfortunately, hadn't had the resources to remove.

  • @talochIV I am sorry they died but as far as that coward , who took his own life I might add, piss on him and his grave!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So True.

    Thank God we had Waylon

  • Love Johnny Hortons"s songs. Comes from a time when it was necessary to actually have a great voice to sell records. Now, well not so much.

As far as all the guff about actions of man throughout history. IMO a little ignorant to judge folks from history based on your presupposed arrogant high horse. We'll probably be seen as quite ignorant ourselves by the 'pure' of the future.

  • Invader after invader, Dutch, English German etc., he list goes on and on.

The natives were, slaughtered on sight, cramped into reservations (concentration camps) and starved, given blankets infected with smallpox, forbidden to speak their own language. All done by invaders who now proudly call themselves "Americans"

You don't see injustice or the arrogance?

  • @primusphilum and where did the Franks and Normans come from, when they invaded Anglo-Saxon England? These things happen. I am not defending ANYONE on conquest. But to say, for example, that the Irish should stay in Ireland, is saying you want Ireland to starve, which roughly 2/6 of the Irish DID. Not even going there. No point.

  • Listen up Tomanyasseshole..... The Americas have been occupied by people (see Pedra Furadis) for over 60,000 years.... Along comes Cristoforo Colombo (aka Christopher Columbus) and claims the land for Spain?

Here we are with a land of 60 million+ people being invaded by arrogant foreigners and you can't see where that's wrong? Cortez destroyed a whole civilization (Aztecs) and that's ok?

  • @primusphilum I wouldn't really call the Aztecs civilized. Thank God that wicked culture of human sacrifice was wiped off the earth.

  • @TheBullionBull Do you know how many souls are dying each day, letting their bodies living , as slave zombies prayers of the mass culture gods ?

  • @TheBullionBull the Aztecs were civilzed and the spanish started the entire mess with them. don't knock a culture that you do not know about

  • @rosemarie443 If you think people who practiced human sacrifice on a mass scale and hand't even discovered the wheel or how to make metal weapons were "civlized", then I guess you have a strange definition of the word. If 300 Spaniards can topple an entire society, then I'd say that is a pretty fragile social order that was due to fall soon one way or another.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBullionBull the indians that lived in the area that is called mexico, were very civilized and intelligent. they not only used the wheel, but knew how to make better metal weapons than the indians that lived in the USA. the Azetca's were a advanced people and the spanish killed them and took their women, and that is how mexico was born. and it was a lot more than 300 spaniards this was not one attack, it was a overtake of a few years. come on do some reading, and learn a few things

  • You are, since the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota all still exist and were just awarded BILLIONS in compensation by the American government for the wrongful actions on part of the military and the government of the times.

Besides Custer was still an egotistical asshole.

  • The great Sun Pi said the Indians in America were of the first Chinese, they were the origianl chinese to come here, they walked here from Asia, and across the Bering Sea when it was a frozen Tundra. They no longer look Chinese.

  • you tube jamming me

  • thank you me tibbs for posting ...

  • General Custer was ordered to the little big horn-everyone makes it sound like he went there to kill Cheyenne and Sioux-he didn't! He went to help return the Injuns to the reservation. But too many things went wrong and that story is on youtube too !

  • @norseleague HA Really? You might want to read your history. And you might want to get your history lesson from some place other than youtube. Its better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt.

  • @CJHobbs83 I'm sticking to my guns.

  • @norseleague sure is but we know the shit head and jews want to change history

  • Custer had it coming.Hubris Kills!

  • @scotsman581 no he didnt you white hater

  • the real americans are what ppl now call native americans

  • @jambjack Only problem with that retort is that this continent wasn't called America to begin with!

  • @AntiSemantic1 really wow your so smart

  • @jambjack the real people were whites from europe thirty thousand year ago white went in to europe one million years ago try to keep up with latest news. not the brain washed shit they do on tv now run by the criminal jews

  • Sir, Thank You for the songs of Johnny Horton

  • Awesome song! (rah rah *dumb racist trolling comments* rah rah)

  • It's the shame of white american settlers who killed / murdered more than 3 million amero-indians throught centuries. That was real genocide and holocaust crime commited on native inhabitants of American continent !!!

SHAME ON YOU BRITISH, IRISH, FRENCH, ITALIANS AND OTHER INCOMERS WHOSE ANCESTORS MURDERED / KILLED OUT MILLIONS !!!

  • @equiumplus why you utter piece of crap. People all over the world have done this very thing and you generalize it to a few nationalizations. Read !!!

  • @equiumplus forget the indians massacered 60 white women and children first and most of the indians died of disease from the europeans . again try to get history right and not some shit talking biased crap and white hating shit like you did

  • @equiumplus well though its sad what happened in the past, we cant really be blamed for what our ancestors did, and i dont feel any shame over what my great great grandfather might have done, nor should anyone.

  • @wesleysmith53 only the dumb asses on you tube ,like you

  • @wesleysmith53 no reason your full of shit the white were immigrating and it was 1480 dumb ass you are professiional shit talker. this land was white owned first in the east . really dude sound llike a cave man with no wisdom

  • i'd bet if yall read a book er something you could figure this out. perspectives and opinions don't win arguments. just facts. this song rocks, indubitably. whether the natives or the immigrants killed what would be a something only god could tell. Skewed amongst hundreds of year of opposing views. GOOD LUCK!

  • the indians killed and murder each other

  • read "bury my heart at wounded knee" and you'll see how americans treated the native indians i cried.americans are such hypocrites ,sort out your own back yard before interfering in others

  • ooooooomg this is such a good song

  • Tell me what you have read on Custer and the Little Bighorn Battle. NOTHING! As can be perceived from your ignorant expression and weak attempt at conveying historical fact. You repeat politically correct nonsense that you have seen and heard from others. The art of effective persuasive writing can be obtained by reading and quoting your source. You have done none of that and that explains your historically empty attempt at defining Custer.

  • totally confused..... What does Custer's political affiliation, schooling or anything else have to do with the fact that he was an egotistical idiot who got himself and his men butchered by being an asshole?

  • @primusphilum wrong the only ass hole is you, later those indians were all wiped out , now who the dum ass

  • "that you pissed off by pissing on." How intellectual. I don't expect that a person with such eloquence and oratorical command of the English language would possibly know who was in Washington D.C. in April of 1876, testifying before congress on the Indians behalf. Or who authored "The Noble Red Man"? Or maybe who wrote "If I were an Indian..? Lacking knowledge and awareness are the signature of those denoting verse such as TheGenIdiot.

  • uster was my great grand uncle's, room mate at west point.( P M B Young. he was also a civil war general, CSA ) they were both due to graduate but the southerners were given the chance to resign . they met at one battle.twice.you can google gen young

  • True, but, 2/3 of his class did not graduate. They flunked out, dropped out, or were kicked out. And, Custer graduated in 4 years instead of 5. Try reading more books and repeating less bullshit and you won't appear so ignorant.

  • @dennis83880 and look how that turned out for him, i think the moral is no amount of learning will save u from all the naked"savages" u pissed off by pissing on

  • @TheGenIdiot and who pissed off the whites oh yaaa the indians who murdered 60 women and children before any indians was murdered

  • @tomanyasses just wondering, what insendant are you referring to? just wondering, there was so much killing back and forth on both sides it's kinda hard to say who started it, also, technically our ancestors where essentially invading there land.

  • @MechaShadowV2 no the first ones were in the west was the white man there no proof for the east there are still white indians , and the red indians stole from other people may they be other red skins or brown skins or white skins to say it was there land is like sayng the moon belongs to usa for landing there and putting our flag there . the indians had no country it was tribes. also the ones who came later from england were immigrants just like the rest before this was a country.

  • @tomanyasses well lets say people from Europe got here first, they didnt stay, whoever became the native americans did, as such, it was theres when the settlers came over, that would be like saying if someone invaded the U.S., and we fought back, it wouldnt be considered defending your land, just since someone else was here first (in fact many places had another group of people there before them) as for the tribe thing, fine, not there country, still there land, since they lived there.

  • @MechaShadowV2 what ever you said make no sense at all, the ones who came, came in a period of three thousand years and they all fought and killed one another, it the land to who protects it, its belong to who has the powerr . the first group here probably either got killed or killed the knew ones for land that wasnt any bodys

  • @tomanyasses well that makes two of us, i spent the past week trying to figure out what you said, thought i had figured it out, but, guess not, sorry. and as long as i cant figure it out, i cant really properly convey my thoughts on the subject matter.

  • @MechaShadowV2 thats ok if cant understan dit then your not smart enough for mch of anyhting, lol

  • @tomanyasses and yet you said you cant understand what im saying either, and honesty i'm glad i asked other people, and guess what, they can't make out what your saying either, try proper English next time.

  • @MechaShadowV2 of course idiots all go to gether ever heard a baby babble you cant understand him and the baby cant understand an adult your t h ebaby

  • @MechaShadowV2 on top of that yo utube screwing with my tlk jamming me and

  • @MechaShadowV2 on top of that none of my votes count and my flag for spam, you tube dont like me i tell the truth you tube likes idiots they make billions off of idiots there are issing words thy ekeep out of my talk on top i donthave time to teach iidots

  • @MechaShadowV2 <------excuse him mentally challenged

  • @tomanyasses um, yea, sure, you never answered original question of what attack you where talking about, and, i understood that you where saying something about east and west, it just wasn't making sense, anyway thanks, after reading other comments, i realize your just one of those who thanks there smarter and better then everyone else in the world, i actually feel sorry for people like that.

  • @MechaShadowV2 what attack look it up find it your sel,f the information is out there just keep away from the biased crap stereo news who will not talk the truth. any way attack me sign you got nothing but blab of a child yo usound lazy and and someone to find information for you or maybe you dont want the truth . your typical you tube dumb as they come.

  • @tomanyasses excuse me for thinking you where someone interested in history trying to share information with people, anyway, I did look it up, and the stuff you where saying about white Indians and that skeleton, and the attack (by the way I looked it up before i read your last comment) and now that I got to read it in legible English I understood what they where trying to say, oh and i never watch the news as I find it boring, everything i know i either look up or discuss with others intersted

  • @tomanyasses in history, and the attack i was referring to was when you said that the native americans started it by attacking 60 women and children first.

  • @MechaShadowV2 this is the thire time i wrote tthis, the last two jammed wont work there wearing me out. look up ass under 1400 first indians massace of the colony other wise i think your just jerking around talking shit

  • @tomanyasses it tkes up to fifteen minutes to get message im being jammed my hands have arthrits i cant type well when i porrf it it jams

  • Custer (Keuster) graduated last in his class at West Point. An ego as big as a mountain.

  • As long as there is a Canadian? There will always be one of you!

  • Johnny Horton must have been a history buff too, I really enjoy his music.

  • Classic history in song.

  • Yes, the SEC is doing well, but everyone (including the SEC) would benefit from a 16-team playoff system. As good as they are, right now the SEC would probably get about three of the 16 places and it would be interesting. I'd love to see what would happen if Alabama and Boise State or TCU and LSU tangled in round one of the playoffs.

  • @Boelcke1916 is this a sports site?

  • I was teasing you. I guess I tease too hard. Of course the SEC is currently No. 1. Anyone can see that. I wasn't trying to offend. I just wanted to help ignite a national debate for a playoff system. The current system we have is poor. A 16-team playoff would be fairer and a lot more fun. Sorry, if I used bad taste. I wasn't actually trying to be a jerk.

  • thanks for posting, mrtibbs

  • This voice kills me. I just love Johnny Horton.

  • thank you

  • Horton kept history alive

  • Unlike the SEC, Jim Bridger would have been willing to man up and fight Boise State. Oh I forgot. One SEC school - Georgia - only that one even has the courage to schedule Boise State. Shame on the SEC!!!

  • @Boelcke1916 LOL FUNNY THE TEAMS YOU SPEAK OF HAVENT WON A NATIONAL THE SEC HAS WON THE LAST 6 DUMBASS!!!!LOL

  • @Southernjuggalo63 Sorry. I was teasing you.

  • @Boelcke1916 and i was just speaking facts that the last 6 national championships games has been by SEC teams

  • this is sooooooooooooo cool!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this great country song!

  • i absolutley love johny horton's voice. my granddaddy sung just like him.

  • my papaw was very illiterate he couldnt right he had me sign his name many a time he was born 1929 i have very interesting stories about him he was a very wild man much like bridger but in a different era he died in 1997

  • @edisonphonographfan thanks for saying that. Alot of the "older people" knew alot of familly history, before TV,junk music... now with archives, more people are learning more about their MOM or Dad...or your Mom (where is your DAD??)

  • @RainbowMTN

what do you exactly mean by (where is your dad ) lol

this was my dads father he passed in 97 and dad passed in 02 r.i.p

moms dad is still alive he knows a lot about old time singers and such he knew most of the old singers from virginia like ralph stanley and the carter family thanks!

    jonathan

  • I like the end

  • I was just listening to Czech version orginál too much good.

  • @OldLudvajs, ja jsem se sem tez dostal az po m. tucnem :)

  • @BostonEm Michal Tučný... největší filmová katastrofa na parodii westernu. Sorry, ale občas je dobré se probudit. Kydání hnoje a vymetání kurníku v Hošticích není .....

  • @ArpiCZ, njn, mas pravdu... :) ale je to taky svym zpusobem epocha v nasich kulturnich dejinach

  • Horton is wrong here of course about Bridger not being able to write his name. He scribed it in rock for all to see, where you still can to this day....

  • @proffromgview PS. I have written a fair amount about trappers/explorers and their proclivity in writing their names in rock (Names Hill, Ind. Rock, etc.) and I have come to the conclusion that even so-called "illiterate" men often were able to write their names, if not much else. And, btw, the "J" for "James Bridger" on Names Hill is carved the way someone would in 1844, san serif, so that part is certainly accurate.....anyway fwiw

  • super nice ! thnx for uploading this, my god! you make me happy

  • Great video/song! If you like the mountain men era, l, you will probably like FUR, FORTUNE, AND EMPIRE: THE EPIC HISTORY OF THE FUR TRADE IN AMERICA (W. W. NORTON, JULY 2010). To see a book trailer for this book, search fur trade history on youtube, or go to this page.

  • Jim Bridger is my ancestor =]

  • pěkný. Ale co naplat-Greenhorns ,respektive Michal Tučný to zazpívali prostě mnohem líp ;-)

  • ...a jedem:!!!jupííí:!

  • today it's 50 years since he left

  • A number of years ago an old gunsmith named Jeff Orr built a Hawken rifle for me in 50 caliber. This was not built from a "kit", and every piece of it except the barrel was made by hand by Mr. Orr. It has percussion ignition and is quite accurate out to about 75 yards or so. The stock is tiger maple stained to a darker color with his secret ingredient...tobacco juice. It's a beautiful rifle and a pleasure to shoot. The only game I've taken with it have been deer with only one shot.

  • I live 30 mile's west of Fort Bridger here in Wyoming,The mans a legend! You all should check out The Ft Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous!

  • Great song.

  • 999.999 stars

  • @MrMoomoo789 999.999 here too. Love this song.

  • No I'm not acadian(obviously because that had to be explained to me) I was aware(vaguely) of the acadian influence in cajun and creole cooking and am now reasearching Acadians (history and cusine)...If you don't pick it up- I'm a chef

  • Lorneriess, mayflowergirl73 asked you in a form of french/cajan if you were acadian, which litterly means "refuge" or "idyllic place". Acadians were of French decent who were driven out of the maritime provinces of Canada in the 18th Century and settled in what is today North Dakota. Most desendants live in southern Louisiana today. It is a language used by some Nimíipuu (The People). I don't think she really knows who Jim Bridger was. The literal translation: "I/we are refugees, and/are you?"

  • wow mayflower..I'm sure that made sense somewhere to someone but to me what the? This is a classic rockabilly song .GREAT as far a I'm concerned.Thank you mrttlbbs6912?

  • hehoehe ya the big hump pepole, the chey say they human, me I stand...---... nez the mex say it's their land, nez was before the spain....we small mr. custer how how

how do like us now. we take your wampum, our cousin will take your breed

  • @mayflowergirl73 j'son acadian. es tu?

  • "Listen yella hair..." I will live by those words for life! Hehehehe.

  • for one daetail custer was a pussy who ran his man into a buch of indians and there were hack to death fuck cluster he is a fuckin pussy

  • @deathmetal219 F off

  • @deathmetal219 - Wonderfully intelligent words and grammar. The idiot in you is showing.

  • @Gretnakv

Some people are just morons. Cheers, mate!

  • Who wrote this great song? one of my favs...

  • @USABEAT

It was written by Leon Roger Payne, "The Blind Balladeer" (June 15, 1917 Alba, Texas - September 11, 1969 San Antonio, Texas)

    A fav of mine, too!

  • Man I love Custer he's awsome and yeah i know he was ruthless but in my opinion he was mostly good like 85 percent and 15 percent WTF did u do that for.

  • @Agomongo1235 Did you know that Custer's brother Tom was given the CMH twice the only man in history to do so.

  • @bigguy4570 wats
