  • Having attended a few training cycles with Gonkafied and his boys, I have to say, they have something special going on. Really interesting training. Gonkafied's stories are great, I might add. Dude has a different perspective on fighting. Watch out for the Gonka Army!

  • Goes to show if there is a knife involved you're going to get cut no!? Was the focus here just on submission techniques?

  • Not necessarily. The focus of most of the rotations you saw in the above clip was just to show how easy it is for a determined adversary to use a knife if you do not utilize proactive manipulation. Notice the one guy who completely demolishes the knife wielder, fakes his adversary into believing he his capitulating then launches a destructive elbow strike followed up with a limb and head manipulation. He controlled the circumstances and the adversary. Ultimately controlling the fight.

  • Alot of knife attacks are quite wild yeh? I mean most people attacking with knife just repeatedly stab quickly. Even with the guy with knife on bottom there is ample times he could or would have stabbed in the back or neck etc. Are you saying here you would take some one with knife down or is this was if it got to that? Hope I make sense lol.

  • Well, an offensive takedown is definitely a proactive manipulation. More important is the focus of controlling the fight. In the rotations you saw, no instruction was given to take down the adversary. It just happens that tripping, loss of balance or being pulled to the ground is very likely.

  • The most important counter knife protocol besides equipping yourself with a weapon and evacuating the area, in my opinion is ferocious head manipulation, no matter if you are standing, grounded or swimming. Grab his head and smash the hell out of it.

  • The head is the carrier for our primary orientation functions (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, brain). Disrupt and control the head and you severely limit the adversary's ability to target you. Don't get me wrong, you still need to protect yourself from incoming attacks and isolate the adversary's offending limbs. Grab his grape and turn it into wine!

  • Agreed, most end up there dont they?!

  • awesome video, you have a gift for giving the viewer and up close view of extreme combat gonka.

  • Great Clip! Sorry i missed it. I couldn't get out of the school in time. Great stuff man, keep it going.
