worth watching these instructions just replace file and done i used teracopy and used (verify) setting file replacement and presto 100% completed took me two hours with teracopy but it verifys to make sure job it done, thank you very much!

i'm new to trying to update my garmin nuvi (1300). do i have to buy the USB cable in order to connect it to my computer? or does that usually come in the box when you purchase the GPS? thanks!

@iheartmakeup23 ok on 1 end of the cable it should have a usb plug the part that plugs into your compuer and the other end should plug into your gps

do what i did, buy a new garmin with the new maps, copy the file to ur pc, then copy it to ur old garmin and send the new satnav back.

@snipersquad100 but then you have to have enough money to do that and if you bouht a new 1 then y not just keep it other than that if you have the money to do that than i guess it is a pretty good idea

i tried this on my nuvi 1450lmt but nowhere on the Garmin drive is there a map file......do you have any suggestions?

@baborains59 - I have a garmin nuvi 1390. I too did not find any file of that name. Also when i do a search to show files > 500mb i get none, however windows xp explorer shows that the total size used on the garmin gps is 1.37Gig !!! any help?

@ramkisuryan if you are so helpless i suggest you stop trying to mod your electronics, eventually you will break something. This is a good road map to the basic idea. I could honestly give you the answer, but if you can't figure it out you don't need to be doing this at all.

I followed everything you showed and I lost all the maps on garmin, when I start my GPS it says "there are currently no detailed maps available" I don't know how to fix this problem besides putting the backup back on gps. Do you have any ideas? I have vista.
