Beautiful song, love the arrangement with the piano, and of course Elvis singing, wonderful, happy birthday Elvis, hard to believe you would have been 77 today.
Recently watched a Jodie Foster film (The Brave One) a virtual rip off of "Death Wish", this was playing in the background, I didn;t know this was from " Clambake", I have seen that Elvis film but don;t remember him singing this? A great version though,!!
I have several versions of this song; this is my favorite! Still miss Elvis on the anniversary of his death 34 years ago. If this world is still standing 100 years from now, Elvis will still be remembered....
I'm 39 and I've been listening to Elvis since I was born. It was practically instilled in me by my parents. This is a lovely song. If you really want a good cry, listen to 'Memories'. That song gets me every time. Even just thinking about it can get me going. It's very touching and sad.
@thatkid1011 ELVIS has 32 #1 HITS Worldwide and appro. 2 BILLION in record sales and many other AWARDS . Do you know any songwriters who have acheived this ?
Even as a kid my heart went out to him when he sang this song about Shelly Faberes in the movie Clambake. I recently recorded a rendition of this song based a little more on the original Eddy Arnold of this song. Stop by and check it out sometime.
The one and only Mr Elvis Presley, the greatest singer /entertainer that ever walked the earth, no one will ever replace him, he was a one off, unique, God Bless you Elvis wherever you are. Miss and Love you so very much.
@LuvThoseLadies :) I grew up 15 minutes south of Graceland. It's basically been a home away from home for me. Now that I'm not in Memphis anymore, it really makes me sad that I can't visit whenever I want. I still make it back every January for his birthday and every August for Elvis Week.
@MiddleGeorgiaMemphis Were you living in Memphis at the time it happened? If so, what was the atmosphere like, and how were the people reacting? It seemed almost like a President had died in office. One of the fondest memories of Elvis had to be his kindness. There was a middle-aged black lady looking into a showroom at a Cadillac, and to make a long story short, he BOUGHT it for her! This was at a time it could have really destroyed his career. He didn't care about that. He was just that kind.
@LuvThoseLadies I was 12 years old and had just came in from playing a baseball game when my mom told me....I was disappointed at first but I immediately focused on my mother because I knew she was a big fan of Elvis......I could see the sadness on her face......I talked about how much I loved the King's music hoping the praise would ease her discomfort....it was a tough day, week , month for those who loved his music
@jmallton lol At first I thought he did, but was quickly stood corrected that it was Eddy Arnold! It is a toss-up between Elvis and Ray Charles as to which one is better. Both were great - I have to give it a tie! Is that okay with you all? I hope so!
This is one of my favorite songs and this is a wonderful version of it by the King. My favorite version is by Mickey Gilley (even though I'm a big fan of Elvis),
I did not even no he sang this song nothing like our King!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will always have you in my soul I just lost my mom she left us on the same day has you August 16. God bless all of you's.
There are legends and then there is Elvis! I am a fan of a lot of the 'Legends' in the world of music but to me Elvis is just in a class of his own. His spirit is as strong to day as it was all those years ago because so many people were captivated by his gift and it will go on through generations.
Elvis you did'nt know me ....I idid not know you but now you are in Heaven and you can see me here in Antwerp (Belgium) and now I can say I love you forevever and ever. Mr. Presley it is to late but I will love You till my last day
@eric669 It was originally sung by Eddie Arnold.....a country artist......Cindy Walker wrote the song......It has been covered by Elvis, Ray Charles, Michael Buble and hundreds of others
Elvis gravou esta música para um filme, mas não gostou do resultado nas telas, e pediu pra regravar com outro arranjo...mais lenta...ficou bem melhor.

This is such an extremely marvelous song and Elvis definitely has the very best renditions of it. This song was from the Elvis movie "Clambake".
