God as soon as I heard the sound of the rollers i started having fucking flash backs and had to stop the video. fuck that job. The cold ass winters, the summers where I felt like i walked into a pizza oven every time i walked in the building, the sounds, the shitty little announcements telling us to take relief. I'll never miss that hellhole. To this day I still have nightmares about the fucking "irregs." Best day of my life was the day i quit.
8 Keys to Lifting and Lowering Packages: Get close, feet shoulder width apart, bend at the knees, check package for shift in weight and content, use existing equipment.......shit I forgot the rest. AUDIT FAILED
load quality is very poor and bags go on top. Didnt your trainer teach you the methods?? 3 level shleves, fill air space with smalls, lock in each wall, and load all the way to the top. Plus always use your load stand and bend your knees, you def dont look like you were trained right....
Check the bags dammit! I almost sent out 300 missorts cuz I didn't check but luckily my supervisor rushed in, tore down two walls, jumped over to the back, threw 15 bags at me saying "you haven't been checking bags eh? Did you check this one? How bout this one? How many fucking times do I got to tell you guys to check the fuckin bags! This shit shouldn't happen! Shit like this can get me fired..shit like this happens two nights in a row like pd2 did then you won't be working here for too long!"
Man, I'm so jealous that you have extendos in your outbound. Let's see you do that job with a set of T stand rollers and no break. It'll make a man out of ya lol. You guys didn't even look like you were sweating.
@Jordo2015 yeah man, i get about 1400-1600 a night. occasionally ill get about 2000 scans, but thats about once every 3 months or so. minus peak season.
@soerskl Did you work with "Rob" who made the 3 videos? Is he still at UPS? I thought he did a great job and seems like the kind of guy it would be cool to work with. He has a good attitude which makes work easier, time go faster and generally improves productivity. I have shown the vids to people when they ask me what its like at UPS.
FUCK UPS.. I WORK FOR THEM BUT THE LOADERS AND THE UNLOADERS GET THE LEAST PAY THERE... FUCK UPS.. SHITY ASS JOBS.. FOR THOSE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS WATCHING THIS AND THINKING OHH I CAN DO IT EVERYDAY .. FUCK YOU.. THIS HSIT AINT SO EASY AFTER TIME IT FUCKS UP UR BACK.. GO WORK FOR K MART.. IM ABOUT TO QUIT THIS SHIT ASS JOB... FUCKKKKKKKKK UPS
in one of the other vids one of the guys says Tampa. You've been working in steamy Orlando for 3 years and you're asking why the sup doesn't have a collared shirt? Ha ha funny! What do you wear inside a semi? What I am trying to figure out is why the one loader dude is wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt that he ends up totally unbuttoning so it hardly stays on him in the other 2 vids. By the time guys I've worked with are ready to wanna go shirtless, theyre in shorts and tshirts.
What hub is this, why isnt your sup wearing a collard shirt. I work the midnight shift at the orlando hub for about 3 years now. This is a really good display of how packages are handeled in hubs. Most people dont realize that the shoots are what sometimes cause damages
oh man! this brings make so much memories. some of which isn't good! - i can still hear the echos of people yelling in the Toronto Hub (twilight shift)... "PRELOAD, BACKED UP!!"
a good memory would have to be during breaks i would take my girl into one of the empty package cars parked in the yard to help me... "release some tension!!" :) - GOOD TIMES!!
dont remember if i replied to this or not but what hub are you located at? looks pretty big from what i can see. reminds me of the hialeah hub down here with all those twisting shoots and slides and belts and even the pick-off. im at the homestead hub (or miami south)....we only have 7 unload doors...maybe a good 80 PCs....3 main belts. and a new area for data acq. i would kill to work in a hub that at least has a boxline...b/c when it comes to missorts with us....it sucks!.
@Saxmachine345 nice i work in the columbia hub lol love the heat...get to unload the metro trucks and you dont even need to step into the damn truck and you get slapped with the heat XD ... chuck that shit and get out is how they role.
This is a fucking suck ass job ever, It is the worth job in there. to load all the truck up took like 4 to 5 hours and it is a back painking job... I just want to sort the packages and push them to the loader lol.. I used to work for Fedex and they thought us about T tacking lol..
Gotta love working in Maumee, Ohio. Each shift does 150-160,000 per shift. We unload about 200+ trailers and during peak season it skyrockets over 300,000 a sort...and we have to work Sunday. I do 2,500-3,000 a day doing Grand Rapids, Michigan alone, and there is 4 other people scanning with me in 4 other doors. Our hub has 14 loading belts...its pretty much hell everyday
man i wish i worked there i work at the hub in Columbus Ohio and idk why but every day seems like peak season i alone get over 2k scans and its august! lol sucks but then again your loading out of a small shoot. Got to love UPS
lol PCM's and power loading is 600 scans? rofl I remember the days of when I was a loader in Jax hub getting 2.1k scans in a peak season alone, it was hell on earth! I took the sort aisle test right after Christmas and got my dollar raise...woo ah the old school memories of from 13 years ago! So glad they got rid of all of the rollers in this center! They are one lax hub to let you walk around like that, at my level no one asks me what im doing but the loaders out of the truck will get nailed!
im going there right now

@Niche79 Actually, over 2k scans the last few peak seasons wasn't unheard of where I was working.
P.S. The shots where I'm walking around are on my break. We used to do a communal break time, but it's person-by-person now.
