5) Yes ever since it my xbox got one red ring and wont turn on. all i get is a screen that says e71.

the update on PS3 did not affect me at all. I never used the system for Linux.

ok 1st off yes I used linux I used it for mozilla firefox use power points microsoft word aim and multitasking, 2nd off Sony removed the feature cuz ma boy geohot is just oh so nice with the hacking ! and there is a way to bypass the update and get back online with version 3.15 go to network settings do it manually and keep everything automatic but when u get to DNS Server type this 67.202.81.137 and second geohot already made a custom firmware 3.21 with other os feature (linux).

@gsharpshooter80 Also go on youtube or geohots blog and look at his video on it the custom firmware 3.21 also he didn't give a release date yet but he did say this might work for people with slim ps3's as well to enable other os maybe !!! which is good news so GO HACKERS! and 3rd matrix change the poll up a bit I wanna also see how many people know what other os is cuz I bet so many ppl don't care cuz they never tried it and don't know what it's capable of or know what linux is !

@gsharpshooter80 I read that if you already did the update geohots custom firmware wont work. that whoever wants the custom build you have to do it before the update. he's working on one for people who already updated their system.

hey matrix2k3.....i used linox yellow dog ver. 6 on my origanal 40gb ps3 it was all good untill i went to boot it up after bout a week of installing it and it just froze. i couldnt get back to the ps3 os or anything. so i just kept my finger on the power button for like a good 6mins. and finaly it restarted into ps3 os after that i reformatted the drive and never used linix again.....now im just happy with my 80gb(now 500gb samsung spinpoint) metal gear solid bundle ....

removing the feature isn't the problem lets face it the other OS is useless its the consequences for NOT updating is unacceptable because after a month or two your new games wont work neither will Blu Ray's

which makes me wonder what if you dont have internet or you bought a console that used to be online and now isn't ... and you cannot update

hope this isn't like what happens on the Xbox360 ... it will be BAD.

it really was no surprise Sony would remove the ability to use another OS after that was exploited to hack their console. DUH. that makes the PS3 better for everyone. the 360's new USB storage is a joke.  you can only use up to 16GB on a device. that really doesn't do anything for gaming, and since the 360 isn't really good for multimedia it doesn't matter.

the USB on Xbox 360 can go up to 32gb 2x16gb. Its not great but I like the option to take a few game saves to a friends house

I never used the linux capability. Never wanted to. But my problem is that they take this system are market the second os feature and free internet and such and are taking those away. That bothers me alot. The reason I have mine is because of the free online and wireless and blueray.

I hate updates for everything. I restored my Laptop and I had to do 99 updates for vista and still need more updates. On consoles is ridiculous the only console that barely updates is the Wii which isnt fair

Well I just don't like the way Sony went about covering up the truth. Sure it's embarrassing to admit your product is in danger of being hacked, but what about the OS clock glitch? You would've thought this was a perfect time for Sony to say sorry and give us something spectacular in this update, but nope, they take shit away and yet again give us nothing in return.

It was an advertised feature on the back of my box, and has nothing to do with PSN.

I think it sucks for the people who actually used that option. Sony states pretty clearly that they should back up their stuff before updating, if they choose to.

Xbox 360's update is ok, but limited. There are USB HDDs that are what, 1 or 2 Terrabytes? They know that if they let people use that much storage, the sales of their overpriced HDDs would plummet.

Sony needs to add party chat. Microsoft already has a good thing going, just overpriced.
