I think he/she was brave enough to even film it at all. would be scared to, dont you reckon? TOTAL FAILURE. Next time focus on the tree and stop moving and shaking like a retard. Use a tripod fucker !!!! You ruined an exceptionally rare and valuable moment with your hand held camera shaking all around. All I see is shaking, I don't see the lightning. The 45 dislikes was because they hate your camera skills, they hate all the shaking around. They want to see a stable footage.

@Ihateflagging123 Wow, man. You're really asking a lot. I doubt that camera person planned to get a shot like that. Lightning isn't exactly a predictable creature. I'm sure the person just wanted to film the distant strikes. Using a tripod is very limited way of shooting. It's almost as futile as trying to watch a meteor shower through binoculars. Know what I mean? Enjoy the footage for what it is. Nature is not the same thing as Hollywood.

I know I know, it's not really the guy's fault and in fact we at least got some footage. I'm just frustrated that all lightning footage involves a flash and a guy falling down to the ground and shaky footage, LOL

Sometimes, it would be nice to have a stable footage of up close lighting, but then again I'm not a big fan of lighthning, it ruins the summer. Just like the sun's UV rays ruins a bright shiny day.

@Ihateflagging123 if you've ever been that close to a lightning strike, you'd probably get a new-found respect for this guy! this camera didn't even come close to giving it full justice - the sound is deafening, the light is blinding, the event itself is completely unexpected... in a flash - no pun intended - you get a wide range of emotions from fear to wonder to exhilaration. it's so much at once that it just overwhelms you.

Hmmm, sounds like you've seen lightning from up close. I agree. I too were close to lighting, however I was in my basement at the time so it does not count. The sound of up close lighting is that of a sharp, sudden, loud, high pitched and short lived crack. There is no rumble grumble. Like the sound of a whip, only a thousand times louder.

That is actually not the most amazing lightning strike you will ever see, yesterday lightning hit my 20 foot oak approx. 10 feet from were i was standing inside! the lightning bolt traveled through the ground and into my sprinkler system and my garage went up in flames! when the lightning bolt struck the noise was amazing and the whole sky went red~!
