  • they did a recreation of this part of the city in a map of call of duty 4

  • lol 1970 color pictures in soviet Russia

  • i should skate the pool

  • fuck COD in the ass S.T.A.L.K.E.R is THE best and always will be the best, it raised more awareness for Chernobyl and the devs even donated to many charities in the area.

so.. fuck COD and yay S.T.A.L.K.E.R!

  • I have seen photos of this swiming pool after so many year of being abandon, but I was so glad to see the before photo as this swimming pool looks so wonderful. Thank you for posting this video as I always wanted to see how nice this pool was back then.

  • Theres more to like than call of duty fgs...

    Looks incredible this place!

  • stop thinking of cod u addicts

  • pause at 0:16 that is too high definition for 1980's dont you think? how?

  • @WaSxPaTrOnv5 well originaly the photo was 1980s quality but it was remastered

  • Such a nice place it was..

  • @ArticFox1030 ofcourse infinityward have seen this, they sent teams out to photograph the buildings and surroundings in order to accurately replicate the location in the game. They even have the ferris wheel.

  • Any one else wonder where the water went????

  • @michael1234263 There's something called a drain. The purpose of a drain is to remove the water that is in the pool.

  • I don't mean to talk about Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. Remember the part were you go to the pool and you can see dogs at the bottom of the swimming pool that are eating people. The pool in Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare and the pictures of it look both the same. Something tells me that Infinity Ward saw this pool. Anyway I feel sad for what happened here but I love Pripyat/Chernobyl. My project is about Chernobyl/Pripyat, (it is not a school project, I am just interested in Chernobyl).

  • What happened to the water?

  • kinda creepy

  • 0:24 POOL PARTY! (2 seconds later) ugh...

  • were are the dogs :D i know i played too much cod but that mission was the most epic and best mission in cod

  • what happened to pripyat and the pool?

  • @SpeakMyMind500 Chernobyl happened. In 1986, people had to GTFO the city because a reactor at the nearby power plant blew up. I imagine the pool was drained immediately after the civilians were removed, so as not to have this giant pool of stagnant, radioactive water.

  • @YukoAsho damn.

  • This pool had been used till 1996. Yes 1996. But how???? WHO THE HELL USED IT IN SUCH RADIATION?

  • @membermanenna How do you know that it has been used until 1996 ?

  • damn call of duty modern warfare did a good job

  • how deep is the shallow end and the deep end of that pool in feet?

  • Where r the dogs eating the dead body ??

  • I've killed people in that pool!

  • Comment removed

  • 00:48 thats where the deadly dogs are ;)

  • Ok I know its sad and everything... But Activision should totally open that place up as a paintball playing ground.

  • how deep is that????

  • The music was creepy. Suits the video well.

  • hey look i saw Cpt.price carrieng Macmillian

  • WTF THE CLOCKS ARE DIFFERENT O.O

  • I was informed, indirectly I believe I should add because the information was on a website, that the Chernobyl incident was due to stripping away the fail-safes and pushing the reactor beyond it's known limits. From the same site the person admitted that people where put at risk mainly because the information about the reactor leaking was not openly discussed and was even attempted to be hidden. The girl that told all of this was the daughter of a scientist whom worked at the site.

  • my grand father became blind because of the radiation :(

  • in the misson there are dogs eating people (H) (call of duty4)

  • The pool with water in it, is shotted in 1996

  • @eggbirdtherooster do you know the year when that disaster happened ? Its 26.4.1986 so how can it be filled with water when there are no people since 1986 ?

  • @cpartyReborn Jup.. I know. But the pool was still in use till 1996.. when they closed it this picture was taken.. I know for sure. :)

  • @eggbirdtherooster hard to believe for me because Pripyat is a ghost town since accident i think....

  • @cpartyReborn Yes it is. But the swimming pool was used for several years for workers of the station.

  • @eggbirdtherooster how you know it and you even cant use it huh? cause its happens in the 80's so how it is just new in the 90??

  • @xTIGERPRINT its called research my friend.. Photo is taken by David McMillan, October 1996.

This swimming-pool had been working for several years for workers of the station and the town after the accident. The enthusiastic person, who wanted to save it, couldn’t resist the pressure of inspection (sanitary inspection closed the pool in 96).

  • @eggbirdtherooster haha thanks for your message I understand its okey :D my fault.

    greetz Tigerprint

  • @xTIGERPRINT That okay buddy :)

If you wanna learn more about the area before and after the disaster; check Pripyat.com

    Greetings!

  • @eggbirdtherooster Ive seen the photo many times but never knew that, thanks! But i think many people dont know that people still work there and had to work there long after the accident.

  • @xMendy22 yes, madness hea? :) but thats gonna end. there are some serious plans to build a big dome over it.

  • @eggbirdtherooster how do you know its 1996? and not 1986?

  • @susupoosa Research.. Google is your friend :)

  • you people are ashame of your self i would sue infinity ward for puting chernobyl to cod4=70% fags and no lifers 30% normal people with brains you dont respect people ho died here europe australia euroazia america wore harmed by the radioactive resulting more viruses and deseases

  • @sovietguy1337 I don't think it'a an issue of respect. And if anything you should thank the Call of Duty developers for drawing attention to the issue.

  • @glennandrewcameron Attention to the issue? Its something that you can't fix basicly just maintain the reactor to make sure it doesn't fall down and release more toxic materials and just let earth deal with it on its own for another 500 years.

  • @glennandrewcameron Yeah. There will alway be idiots who can't see anything out of their own sphere, but yeah, it was an incredible thing to do to put this in a big budget title. Hell, I didn't even know there was a whole city that was abandoned right next to Chernobyl until CoD4, and I imagine I wasn't the only one.

Anything to get people's minds on what happened there.

  • @glennandrewcameron

Really? I thought S.T.A.L.K.E.R did a better job of raising awareness and telling people the scale of the damage.

At most call of duty just made it a tourist attraction :P

  • @sovietguy1337 I do quite agree with you but I like Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2 , and the older ones but Black Ops is shit. And I also knew about Chernobyl, Ukraine before I even knew about this Call of Duty 4:Modern Warfare stuff.

  • @sovietguy1337 In no way did they disrespect the people that died. They never went, "haha people died here" or something. God, ignorant people like you piss me off.

  • @sovietguy1337 You can't sue developers for featuring a public event or a building in a game. It did not depict the real events that went on , ie. The names of actual people who died, but rather it was created on a game makers perspective which is his own intellectual property. Its like saying that producers of the movies Pearl Harbor or Downfall should be sued because they gave their own idea of how the events took place. Get your head on straight.

  • @sovietguy1337 Faggot

  • sad to see what human error can to do a city :(

  • Whats the name of the song?

  • @steak98 It says on the itunes thing

  • which swimming styles if done regularly will make you grow taller?

  • @TheLeilisa Not a good place to comment you sick bastard.

  • When was the old picture taken? It looks so recent as if it was taken on a digital camera but it must be at least 24 years old.

  • the pool tiles havent changed mostly they almost look new

  • actually this song is called aalborg ambient soundtracks - seadrift

  • call of duty 4 Knife warz in the pool FTW

  • Pryip

  • at 0:18 did anybody notice a ball and a ladder were in the pool?

  • Comment removed

  • @MrAirbuster57 i dint at first, but then i watched it again.. so weird.. especially the ladder.. whats it doin on the bottom there?

  • @xMendy22 well maybe they just filled it up. consider there is nobody in there.

  • 0:34

There's a zombie on the right!!

  • @jerbear938 it is probably a tourist

  • that waz the pool of cod mw

  • @OKLASG13 i know and there is pics of the ferris weel from cod4

  • HOw deep is that pool?

  • @ihatetaft They have a 3 and 5m platform, so the pool should be at least 4 m deep.

For a 10m platform you normally have a water depth of 4,50-5,00m

  • @747er

oh okay, about 16 feet deep

  • @ihatetaft probably 4 meters. thats what the pools are usually like, go gradually to 2 meters then steeply to 4

  • you took a tour on pripyat??

  • was on mw2

  • @AssassinSReaPERX

In the 80's Chernobyl had a nucular explosion at a radiation facility. It caused mass defects in babies. And the radion level is extremely high. Hence, the fact that like nobody lives there. And I'm not so sure about Pripyat. Maybe the same thing?

  • @lamborghinijake the nuclear facility was called named after the nearby town of xhernobyl, but pripyat was built later to house the workers in the plant and is right next to the facility, hence why pripyat got more iradiated and has been completely abandoned for over 20years and chernobyl still has a hotel, shops etc.

  • @Glennerzzz No no. Pripyat was built in 1970 to house the workers of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. After the accident on April 1986 some of the workers stayed in the town in Pripyat in some of the hotels. I know someone that worked at the plant a few years ago...only the Power Plant in Chernobyl you can only stay outside the exclusion zone...no shops or hotels for tourists

  • @tinytoes409 sorry, i was just going off of this: (from wikipedia) The city of Chernobyl, located a few km south from Prypiat, has some accommodations including a hotel, many apartment buildings, and a local lodge, which are maintained as a permanent residence for watch-standing crew, and tourists.

  • @glennandrewcameron Oh Thanks!!! I had no idea they had those things in Chernobyl that are still used today! So, you went on this trip?? Such a wonderful experience...but very creepy!

  • @tinytoes409 what the hell iv been there you cant stay there but you can visit it for a day its a nature reserve now and there is shops hotels but there all trashed

  • @ewdennis I see you are 17, you have to be 18 to go there. I looked it up, just on the outside the exclusion zone there is a hotel you can stay in. Very simple accommodations, and very clean! Nothing fancy! You must be pretty darn close to mild hot spots because they check you out!. Gosh, I wish I could remember the exact site...it showed a full video!!.

  • what happened to the water did it get drained or just dry up

  • @zicoproudictions its possible that people returned to drain the water because it was so badly iradiated but its more likely that it just began to dry up after the windows broke and the place fell into disrepair.

  • The drawing of the girl fishing on the wall of the pool at 0:44 and 0:55 is not yet there at 0:28. That means it was painted/placed there a some time after the pool was abandoned

  • so sad

  • ll of the people who are saying things about COD4 i have only few words for you!! GET A LIFE!!! YOU CANT COMPARE THIS WHIT A GAME THAT ACTUALY SUCKS ASS......AND COMPERING THIS TO A PC GAME IS DISRESPECTFULL FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO DIED THERE AND LIVED THERE!!! so stop putting stupid comments about cod4 and get a life!!!

  • @kristjanslokar actually as a Game Player i agree that call of duty 4 Modern Warfare was created about this disaster. So really it does have to do with some of these places. It shouldnt be disrespectful at all, it should just go to show that playin a game and seeing where it came from goes to show what people would do because of a tragic accident. I think IW (Infinity Ward) did a good job on all the locations in this video cause if they didnt then that would be disrespectful. Plus its xbox360 =]

  • 50.000 people used to live in here... Now it´s a ghost town...

Call Of Duty´s words of Pripyat.

  • What happend to Pripyat and Chernobyl?

  • On the CoD 4 there is this swimming pool !

  • ok it takes 1000 year to break down glass ok?

  • @cathkinghost uh lemme think

    Nuclear fallout mabey?

  • thats the pool what is in cod4 : D

  • reminds me of the pool in mw1

  • Wow, the video game cod4 is pretty accurate huh..

  • What happend there??

  • i want to visit this place before i die

  • OMG!!!

  • 50.000 People was used to live here, now it's a ghost town! - Captain MacMillan: Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare

  • The fishing graffiti wasn't originally there. It was put there by a graffiti artist, to express the ghost town melancholy with them - intended as a respect.

Not everyone who lived in this town take them as one, though.

  • i thought that PRIPYAT was just in a game of c.O.D.

now i know it is true.......

    so sad to say.....

"this place is lived by 50,000

now its a ghost town" -caPT. MACMILLAN

  • Haha, why would i buy this track ? Its like hitting a few keys on a softsynth*....hahaha

    Poizone, Morphine, Sytrus et al

  • sad how half these comments are from the game Call of Duty 4

  • @ModernMarine how is it sad? ironic your name is modern marine

  • @ModernMarine crap I was right about to say something about it. But I really do like how they recreated this part in it.

  • @ModernMarine cod 4 was a brilliant game and it did do really well to replicate pripyat.

  • @ModernMarine Including you so just Shut up and stop being a hipacrit.

  • my friend said he still remberes swiming in that pool hes like 50 something now

  • Kind of weird when you think about for long....

  • wow, you know someone who lived here? thanks for sharing

  • @glennandrewcameron There's a woman living in Pripyat ... She has been living there all her life. Not dead though.

  • @tototunu lol if hes ur freind u must be like 50 also

  • @pizzapenguini it only happed 20 years ago

  • @tototunu i also know a guy who was in the army to "clean up" after the exposion.... hes still alive and has no major problems due to radiation

  • c'est vraiment triste

  • This is so sad, what a waste! 5 stars!

  • What happened to the tiles in the ceiling, and the walls?! Large portions of the wall and 80% of the ceiling is missing!

  • well when you fail to maintain something for 20 years stuff like that tends to happen.

  • @guitarblazer4

Have you ever heard of the Chernobyl meltdown?

  • Well, i'd guess since it's been abandoned for over 20 yrs., it probably hasn't seen any renovations in a long, LONG time.

  • @guitarblazer4: That's what happens when you leave shit unattended for 20 years or so.

  • wheres the football forest ?

  • USSR, respect...

  • it's heartbreaking that when you think to yourself "50,000 people used to live there and now its a Ghost Town" i never thought there were such a thing on Earth.

  • sentence made me cry even on CoD 4...

  • stalker!!

  • this is like COD 4 :)

  • geek

  • go hide somewhere u asshole

  • it is. Infinity Ward did a good job with desgining that on COD4

  • @thatweirdguy10

    like i was there, really

  • Are you daft? Stay out of the radiation areas.

It is very sad that 50,000 were evacuated and none ever returned. But at least they survived which is more than can be said for the Chernobyl workers, liquidators and medics.

  • Thats soo coo That no ine has swam in that pool for 20 years and you maybe be the first one to stand on that sport that a person that died there once stood watching they're children play

  • What's So Cool about that?

Are you really that retarded to think a disaster on this magnitude is cool...

You are definitely not the coolest Canadian...

Call of Duty comes out and all of a sudden people are making the stupidest comments...

If our Pickering Plant melted down we'd feel the effects almost all across Ontario.

Kopachi was completely buried by Officials.

    I guarantee you I won't think it'll

    be cool, or funny...Ever

  • Dude Calm Down, By Cool I mean It is creepy or interesting that those people were the first ones to be there in twenty years.

  • It"s always a sad feeling to see this abandoned city. Just imagine - 50000 people used to live there, they used to swim in the pool....and now there is nothing but emptyness there :(

    It"s sad

  • maybe

  • whys it in cod4 trailer when it happened in the 80s

  • there was originally, but 25 years of neglect, looting and disrepair soon decayed most of the structures in the city.

  • @glennandrewcameron I heard it was because of looters in the early 2000s that came and took all sorts of things including many windows. I could be wrong. My friend went on a tour of prypiat and the guide said that the pool was in use up until 1998 for the remaining workers of chernobyl to use

  • @glennandrewcameron

Not to mention all the radiation destroyed some

  • Sorry if it seemed I was downplaying the tragic events that happened to this city. I was more just trying to counter the depressing slideshow and music with some cod4 comic relief.

  • not you. ultrasuperx.

  • I hate when snipers camp in this building.

  • what snipers?

  • cod 4 dumbshit

  • hes not a dumb shit he just dosnt spend his life playing computer games

  • im gunna visit this place later on my life!

  • Comment removed

  • at 0:44 is that white thing a dead animal on the ground?

  • hmm, perhaps. the camera seems to be focused on that object, so it may very well be.

  • @Szasza Yea,decayed away.Poor puppy....

  • was die zeit alles venichtet !! würde gern wissen wie die stadt in 50 jahren aussieht

  • Es könnte nicht als dieses viel schlechter schauen!

    (entschuldigen Sie mein schlechtes Deutsches)

  • lol stalker, nice.

  • nazi zombies in pripyat....fail

  • Can i ask where did you find the picture of the swimming pool in good condition at 0:23?

    Pls reply

  • man those russians are geeks. they play cod4 and then build the scenery for real. hopefully zakahev doesn´t walk around there, otherwise we have to worry about the future of our planet.

  • cod 4...but where's the dog?!

  • wtf happened

  • Call Of Duty 4
