I heard that Allakariallak (or 'Nanook' in this documentary) actually died of tuberculosis than starvation.

I heard that he went out looking for food for his family, and never came back.

Well whatever might have happened to him, he will always be remembered as Nanook of the North and forever immortalized in this documentary.
