  • My heart stopped at 5:04. God, i'm scared to buy this.

  • Wow, scary... I'm fixing to get Nora type, from eBay.. Looks way more complicated then my VF-0.. Good info

  • Definitely for adults and extremely careful children.

  • wow complicated shit. this is not a toy for children

  • Yeah, the 51 is definitely a pain in the ass.

  • thanks for the video, this shows why the VF-0 Phoenix was superior to than the SV-51, because the last one had a very complicated transformation sequence and, as stated in the anime OVAs, the SV-51 consumed fuel very quickly

and It's me, or the SV-51 looks very alike to the VF-25?

  • Deep breath....

  • omg, NOW I understand how the SV-51 body is formed. I manage to understand the head, arm and legs fine from the Zero episodes, but the body stumped me (except for the crotch cockpit, ahem).

Nice video, though I'll probably want just the Fighter mode (anything inspired by Flanker family is so frigging sexy).

  • You're welcome. If I can ever afford any more Yamatos, I'll be sure to post new videos.

  • This is nice. I finally made up my mind and ordered Nora's & Ivanov's SV-51s from HLJ before the end the sale (like they already did with the 1/48 VF-1J Max). Watching your video was very helpful. Thanks man!

  • I got one of these with the same hinge problem on the wings, so one of the wings doesn't fold back all the way. I don't want to do the mod and risk damaging it. Thinking about selling it.

  • Hey, your English beats my Spanish any day. I don't have a problem with the gerwalk mode of this particular figure, just gerwalk in general. But I'm a transforming toy geek and not so much a Macross geek, so I guess I never really "got" the whole halfway thing.

  • The idea is the body remains aerodynamic and it can still dogfight but the legs can pull VTOL or rapid breaking maneuvers (like thrust reversal) and the arms can be unfolded if needed for balance or to even use the rifle.

Typically, the transformation is only finished entirely if the dogfight has ended or ground-mobiliy/the ability to rapidly switch directions or a higher aim precision takes priority over speed and stealth.

It's a nice compromise between the two to give the pilot options.

  • Very nice video. What's the problem with the gerwalk? I really like it, looks like a bird of pray in Zero. It's the most agressive looking gerwalk of all Valkyries, specially Ivanov's.

    (Excuse my English, I'm Argentinian)

  • You spell better than most english people do!

  • I have the same SV-51 model and it helps with stability if you push the hips back in. There is the metal bar and the plastic "square" when you transform it, both are extended. to get back stability, push the hips together until the "squares" disappear inside the legs and only the metal bar is visible.

Great video btw, and yes gerwalk sucks on this one. Still, I love it.

  • Nice video, really helpfull :)

  • SV-51 design is inspired from Su series

  • I was never much of a fan of the SV-51 until now. It is a neat design, and an interesting departure from the U.N. Spacy's typical stable of VFs.

  • I don't mess with gerwalk. On this one you reverse the legs (kneecaps in the back) and basically stop halfway to battroid.

  • what about the gurlock mode
