  • One of the coolest bass-lines ever written in my opinion and one of the first things I learned to play when I took up the bass. Still love playing it!

  • I get lost in this song

  • great post! Thanks!

  • Musically BRILLIANT… Technically FLAWLESS… Spiritually UPLIFTING…

Who needs a GOD when you have Jane’s Addiction?

After 10nim 49sec My Sins are Forgiven, My Conscious is Clean, and My Soul Is Pure..

    Reborn after every Rotation…

  • @pdoghb5, Ya Ya, I could very much say the same!

  • I do miss this era....seems eons ago....seems like yesterday.

  • Ohhhh... this takes me back to my summer o love -1991- no worries, no financial probs, no kids, no drama, no bills, no health/weight probs, my family was still talking to me... - just good irresponsible free fun...my biggest worry at that time was too much sex and trying to decide which concert to go to on any given weekend :P ohhhh...

  • Absolutely...I saw them back in the day and used to rock to 'em back before kids, jobs, and life subdued sex, drugs, and rock & roll...those were the days...

  • 8:14 is divinity

  • agreed - check out their cover of Ripple - another percussion buildup

  • remember talking about how awesome this cut is at my brother's wedding (and I'm 58)

  • Thanks everyone! and since we are in 90S in our heads right now...HELL YEAHS all around!!!!!!!

  • I remember listening to this over and over and over.

Must of drove my neigbors nuts.

  • The one band I truly regret never having seen live :(

  • tears in remembarance...

  • and my generation has kesha. fuck this!

  • if janes addiction was only remembered for one song.. it would be this one

  • This song is my "Stairway to Heaven" Back in 1990, those guitar solos changed my teenage life, it literally altered my fragile young mind.

  • @pdoghb5 Ditto, seriously, no one writes stuff like this anymore, do they? This song is more than twenty years old. I am so glad i was a teenager during this era.

  • @pdoghb5 yes! but not just the guitar solos -- also the percussion! starting around 3 min, and climaxing around 7.

  • @pdoghb5 holy shit me too

  • this is my fave JA song. There is not a single second that doesn't kick total ass - from soft and sweet at the start to super heavy and intense at the end...

  • "I am a proud man anyway..."

  • I'm so caught in these song,I can imagine to the band getting the limit.

    Alice cooper,1994

  • Memory Xiola Bleu.R.I.P.

  • I remember when they pulled this cover from the shevles I got one!!!!!!!!

  • This is the song that sets this band apart

  • I remember them at the first Lallapolooza. in 1988 holy shit i am old

  • @KeatonsThe You're REALLY old then- you must have Alzheimers or elderly dementia, because the first Lollapalooza was in 1991. I know because I was Really there.

  • @planetery You're right. I was probably thinking about Nothings Shocking coming out.I get confused in my old age of.......36 :)

  • @KeatonsThe Yeah, we need to remember to take our Centrum Silver these days... ;)

  • man im 18 years old but I grew up on this shit because of my dad thanks to him I know what real music is and proud to say my two favorite bands are janes addiction and blind melon

  • @thetheoryofmymind Hell yeah I love blind melon too.

  • quite a drumming performance as well !!!

  • Whhoo...h! in Finland here ..just this time smoke good "cigarette" :D AND enjoy .....

  • "Til the shadows and the lights were one.." AWESOME

  • 3 lovers in 3 ways

  • epic song. it just doesn't get much better than this. Cali bands ruule.

  • what an incredible song...

  • Saw them do this at Lollapalooza in '91. Highlight of the set and maybe the day.

  • i'll put Dave's guitar solo up against any guitar solo in rock history, ever.

structurally, like a pre-dark side pink floyd epic.

one of my favorite rock songs of all time.

  • you want a band from the 90s still kicking out kick ass music today? do yourself a favor and go check out Clutch.

  • oooh yeah...... trippy til 3:00 then just ruckus til my favorite bit: 9:24 onwards!

this is genius stuff..... JA at their glorious best!

  • i am prodical daughter of the wonderful 90's the music to me just gets no better than then, hell even some of the styles i'd still rock lol. ROCK ON ALL MY 90'S BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!!! u know who u r!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • holy fuck 21 years! Shit i am old!!

  • @billymcnutt no acid,no drugs,but i 'm flying like i flee in 1990 when i was 18!!! My friend,i'm getting older too!!!!! by the way,now i have a son that's 12 and likes Jane's and Mother love bone too!!!!

  • @scot972 Now that's cool.. I was 7 when I started listening to Jane's Addiction and Mother Love Bone.. make sure your son keeps listening to good music like that!!

  • @HihiEliza You just made me feel young again! I love you! :):):):):)

  • @billzaboo glad to be of service

  • Great tune

  • beginning kinda sounds like civil war by guns and roses

  • really?I mean, really? One of the best bands to ever grace this planet and people are bit chin about kids music on a Janes page!! Enjoy the music, it is only one of the best songs ever recorded. Plus the only one on Ritual that they recorded together ,in the studio, that is. Sorry, now i'm bit chin! Later my loves!

  • Anything I could say would negate itself.

  • I bought this album the day that it was released, that afternoon I scored some high grade acid, that night I dropped and put on the album for the first time, driving around my small town, the spirits and the music became one.......................

  • @hammer95618 Driving on acid, awesome. Way to put others lives at risk dickwad.

  • @WickedSlapShot3 it's okay, back then cars had just been invented.

    :P

  • @WickedSlapShot3 When thinking back, I did the same thing. Maybe its something in the music. Should I sue Jane´s?

  • @hammer95618 preach it

  • @hammer95618

yes glorifying drug use and addiction...cant rock music ever just be pure music and a high in itself? drugging doesnt make you more spiritual or expand your mind more than any other non drug high does....its just an artificial emotion... where as a natural high is real. .. yet intangible, unlike a solid drug held in your hand and swallowed down your esophagus.

  • @canadiantwat Are you on drugs right now?

  • @hammer95618 amazing album, acid is the way forward loves it,the doors on acid is the best

  • Saw them in '91 on triple-bill with Primus and The Pixies at The Bill Graham in San Francisco. Now that was a show...and this was the highlight. They jammed it out to about 15mins. Erotic Jesus indeed...

  • I lived this........ I will never, ever forget my three days....

  • 3 tune-love when tempo changes--what a build up--tune tune

  • finally turned on some music today and this came on the shuffle. God, I Iove this song. Eric Avery RULES. That band doesn't exist to me without him

  • fuck yeah this song rocks and i saw them at jar arena with henry rollins in 1990 akron ohio .....

  • I like Kashias, too, but....Kashias is, well, a lot of musicians well, word, for somethin' I don't know what, because it's recently referenced in a lot songs. In, fact, I like Perry, a lot too. I love Perry. Awww!

  • fucking good music...esta con madre esta rola todo el album.

  • does anyone have a cover of this or some tabs? everytime i try searching this song, "three days grace" comes up

  • Wow. I haven't heard this in twenty years. I remember now why I thought it was brilliant.

  • Who today would be capable of writing a piece of music with such vision ?

  • This song is like religion to me.

  • This is such a great rock, maybe the perfect rock song .....

  • This song is truly EPIC! Layer upon layer of aural BLISS!

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • They "Make" a lot of music nowadays, (American Idol) however; does anyone actually Compose/Create Music any longer?

Today's Line up: Cage The Elephant, Linkin Park, Thе Black Keys, Mу Chemical Romance, Alter Bridge, Rise Against , Shinedown, Avenged Sevenfold & Mumford & Sons...:(

    BRING BACK THE 90's!

    JanesAddiction/Nirvana/R.H.C.P./Beck/Alice In Chains/Primus/Sausage/Stone Temple Pilots/Pearl Jam/Rage Against The Machine/Blind Melon/Soundgarden/Days Of The New/Faith No More/Filter/TOOL...:)

  • @TheJerkyKids so so true

  • @TheJerkyKids whats wrong with cage the elephant?

  • @uptheirons1996 They're pretty much sellouts

  • @uptheirons1996 I checked 'em out-& I do beg your pardon-They're not 'The Deftones' or anything however; they're certainly weird enough, to break out the nice linens for here and there! =)

    Train Hard/Read Often/Rest Deep/Eat Clean-->Be Well...

    -The Jerky Kids.com

  • @TheJerkyKids Imagine being old enough to watch music go to shit...smmfh On your list you left out damn near everyone save but a few from 2000 on til today. I think it's a bunch of garbage

  • @TheJerkyKids also Sublime/Pantera/311/Korn/Temple of the Dog

  • @1ManArmyOfDisease Yes Sir! Well played--->as well as Sevendust, Stained-The Debut album-"Dysfunction" & Godsmack's Debut Album-->B4 they got all Lovey-Dovey/Ballad/Radio Friendly...

    Rock Out!!!

    -The Jerky Guy

    The Jerky Kids.com

  • @TheJerkyKids CTE and Black keys actually do make music, but the rest don't really.

  • @TheJerkyKids Although My Chemical Romance and Rise Against are okay... well actually only Rise Against's older stuff.

  • @TheJerkyKids the black keys kick ass man!!!

  • @TheJerkyKids Couldn't agree more. RATM, Primus, Tool, Blind Melon, Faith No More, STP, and Sound Garden are all the shit. You should check out Peeping Tom, Tomahawk. There still his good music you just got to do a little searching

  • Comment removed

  • @TheJerkyKids Mumford and Sons are great. If that's all the so called new music you could find then you aren't looking in the right places.

  • @TheJerkyKids the black keys are actually quite cool !!

  • @TheJerkyKids

Dude I mostly agree but Mumford and Sons create and compose great music which is actually kind of unique.

  • @TheJerkyKids Appeal to tradition fallacy. There are bands today just as good. Whether you like them or not is subjective but some of the bands you named like A7X are technically superior to many of the 90's ones in your list. Also not sure what's wrong with rise against and mumford. But hey ho, each to their own i guess.

Now we have bands like Kylesa, While Heaven Wept, machinehead etc producing amazing stuff. You just can't rely on the radio to inform you of good music any more

  • @TheJerkyKids Great days :)

  • @bomber88x We all do bro, at least Rhcp still going on =)

  • @EmilioDx they arent any where near as good as they used to be

  • man i was trying to do someting else and this song kidnapped me good stuff

  • WHY 240p? Audio quality needs at least 480p! Thanks for posting :)

  • R.I.P. Xiola Blue

  • The first time I heard this song was in 1994. I was hitchhiking from Co. I just got done burning a joint with some guys from Wa. I can remember lying in the back of the van thinking that this some of the best music I have ever heard.

  • @wes626 it was some of the best music you had ever heard :)

  • one of the most powerful songs ever!!!! many times have i evaded certain death by putting my head down and charging with this song in my ears... no other song comes rising to such an explosion!!! those who have not seen "the gift", JA is playing this take in the movie. watch how destroyed everyone is after this song... never again will that happen like that!!! promise...

  • phiscodelia com melodia, os caras sao os mestres sem querer serem mestres

  • This many years later...that song still gives me goosebumps.

  • "Ritual de lo habitual" is one of my favorites albums of all times.

  • Its about Heroin Withdrawal for those of you who had'nt realised...

  • @spaceleaf2 Pretty sure its all about how he spent 3 days with his girlfriend and another woman (who died and meant a lot to Perry) having sex and doing drugs...look it up

  • just wow

  • @bomber88x Dude..what about Tool..alice in chains, pearl jam, STP?!?

  • @xilinica COUGHCOUGH OK computer COUGH COUGH

  • THE GIFT. a MUST SEE!!

  • three days was the morning...my luck is three days old....did anyone see the gift???see it if not

  • caught this on college radio back in 91 in the car...totally random.... Albany NY while passing through.... bought the cassette in the new releases bin at the local mall and brought it back to my shit hole cow town 150 miles north. Janes Addiction spread across county...viral marketing the old fashioned way-

  • Love it, so beautiful

  • @bomber88x Born in 75, so I went from 15 to 25 during the 90's. Best years of anyones life but I was lucky to go threw it at a time they were putting aside 80's cockrock for good music. Agree with everything you said except RHCP, I can't stand them!

  • 10 minutes in the paradise

  • gripping and exotic

  • Chilling

  • tremendous

  • What a great album. If you have not heard this album in its entirety...it is a must listen.

  • @unclefucker66 not really as they are just a shell of their former selves...

  • @bomber88x you still have rhcp

  • Still one of my favorite songs... I can't believe it's been 21 years.

  • @RuhiKuz I can't either and it still affects me the way it did back then!

  • @RuhiKuz Hmmm, it's only been 3 days in my case !

  • audio only (this incredible song doesn't need a video)...AGREE!..three ways was the mornin!

  • 1:51 - The background voice "One night I'm gonna bone her"

  • @Thrall079 ONE NIGHT I MET A WHORE

  • Where do you think my youtube name comes from? :P

  • a true classic , this band not only appealed to pure rock lovers but, punk, the hippy scene and just about anyone with good taste in music. They also appeal to a whole new generation of fans that were in diapers or not even born when they put theses albums out. There are not alot of bands that can say that. Only true legends!!!!

  • this album let us know the 90's "would be okay"... after the Reagan era, Genesis, Rick Astley... UGH! We needed a musical enema. They warned us with "Nothing's SHocking" & delivered their promise with "Ritual..."

  • 90s was the best decade for music ever. Yeah I said it. I'll put Jane's Addiction, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Tool, Live, Nine Inch Nails, and Rage Against the Machine against any other group of bands any day.

  • @xChiefRunningWater Damn Right mate! So would I!!!

  • @xChiefRunningWater You forgot the likes of Radiohead, Mercury Rev, Grandaddy and The Flaming Lips.

  • @TheThomosexual Agreed, and there's plenty more but I gotta make the other decades feel like they stand a chance.

  • @xChiefRunningWater Haha, true!

  • This is one of the few bands of the 90's who can play guitar and bass

  • @bomber88x

    RHCP are still here :P

  • @teh1owner meh, that apple has lost some of it's juice & is showing bruises...
