  • my welches white grape juice says it contains sulfites to maintain flavor and freshness. Can i still use this to make wine?

  • how the fuck can you make wine the redneck way? its fucking grapes.

  • does it smell? i dont want this shit stinkin up my room if i stash it in my closet

  • @MrRee324 - The gas that are released will for sure give off an odor in your closet. When I used grape juice that one was the strongest smelling.

  • This seems to be the easiest way to make some cheap alcohol that i've seen so far. I don't even need an airlock!!? Amazing...

  • @Planklike Yes you dont need an airlock.

Go ahead and try it, its nice.

  • @Owlsandwich I totally will... thank you!!

  • powdered sugar works best

  • geee===that was realy a good simple video=thank you sir very much-

    -i got a question please--

i use kleenex on the top of the juice bottle=and rap it with rubber band--

    so air escapes-

-and nothing enter--i left it for a month

-it tasted good--it gave me a hell of a buzz--i used bakers yeast-

-do u think my method of using kleenex is ok??

?? or shall i look for an air loack??thank you--and great video by the way====

  • gee thanks for showing my alcoholice wife yet another way to get a cheap high....dirtbag

  • @ctbobx Hey, Its your WIFE and apparently YOUR problem, no need to insult a stranger because of YOUR domestic issues.

  • im thinking it was bitter do to the yeast still being in the wine....when yeast runs out of sugar it will start eating itself and release enzymes to break down the dead yeast which will make it bitter....let it sit long enough and it will become some strong hooch.

  • DO i have to distill this?

  • hi jake i use a bottle and a balloon whit little hole in it sugar random no preservative juice and piece of bread since i dont have yeast will it work i cant see bubbles yet i started last day last 1 was very sweet and sugary but worked a bit do you have any tips plz sir thx you

  • @dumbtrooper - Your piece of bread is not going to work for you! That yeast that was in the bread is long been dead. Just go to your supermarket and go to the baking section. You will find BREAD YEAST. Just use 1/2 packet per Gal Jug.

  • I have my juice in a dark place, but because of the location it is sitting in, I do open the door to the area about twice a day for a few seconds. Silly question: but will that be ok?

  • @HaveANice2Day - It will be fine. No need to worry.

  • So you leave the lid slightly open for three months? You never close them?

  • If u would use apple cider would u get a hard cider or just an apple wine

  • Also after the balloon has deflated, let the wine sit for a few more weeks to let all the yeast sediment fall to the bottom. Then transfer the wine into bottles using a Siphon Kit. Label Peelers has a lot of stuff for homemade wine and beer. Enjoy some wine!

  • Balloons are perfectly safe.Don't scare people.Balloons these days are made from 100% natural rubber latex, which believe it or not, biodegradable. It is NON-TOXIC. I use them all the time. Remember to put a pin hole in the top.Or you will have big problems.I always wash them with my mixture that I sterilize my bottles with. A balloon is to let the gases escape, and not allow bacteria into the bottle.Using your method there is a chance for bacteria to enter the bottle after fermentation.

  • Condoms, really? haha

  • WILL QUICK RISE YEAST WORK?

  • @sydney69able --- Do NOT use quick rise yeast.

  • Thanks Jake! Let me tell you you're a godsend for living in a dry country... (Middle East)

  • i did the same thing but i did not have to use sugar or yeast i drank some of juice and for got about it in my room for about 5 months found it and it looked like it was going to explode i opened it and it was by far the best wine i ever had

  • 3:05, SHAKE THE CRAP OUT OF IT C'MON !! couldnt stop laughing ...

  • I've done this 2 or 3 times. It works quite well, but it seems like the wine is always horrible tasting. It's almost as good as CHEAP table wine.

  • Bullshit you have to be equally sanitary with the yeast on beer and wine

  • i need an answer.i have 2 quart bottle of juice i added slightly under 3 cups of sugar to with a packet or yeast and im letting it sit. did i add to much sugar? will it still work? i just wanna get drunk forget taste

  • @Roberticus12 It will still work but get the most out of it let it sit and ferment for at least 14 days. Cheers

  • Your videos are among some of the most helpful. I have tried your method with bakers yeast with some success however what would I need to do to increase the alcohol content a bit? Thanks Jake!

  • @soonerfan756 Add a little more sugar and/or find a wine making shop and pick up some wine yeast,If unable to just add more sugar like 1 more cup to the jug and let sit to ferment a few days longer. Cheers!

  • I found your videos very helpful apprecieate what you have done. If I may ask how much sugar exactly to juice to yeast did you use for the 14 day fermentation period?

  • How else can I make yeast? How about rice

  • @emmettebrown just go by a home brew store.. champagne yeast is dirt cheap ...

  • lol, u wearin pajamas!

  • so, if you can drink it in 14 days would the alcohol content get stronger if you left it for more than 14 days??? and is it not supposed to be moved/shook up in the time it's in the dark place??

  • cant get more redneck than this.

  • in all honesty can you use bread yeast.how much per bottle size of what your using and does it effect strength and how long do you recommend leaving it to ferment im planning on using this guide as my 1st ever try?sorry for all the questions

  • Jake I followed your instructions and made some wine and I have to say..you are the man. I was also curious is there a simple process to making beer like wine with out spending a ton of money for a kit.

  • I only have bread yeast, will it work?

  • whats the least amount of time it takes before you can start drinking it disregarding the taste

  • @inzane100 5 or 6 days probly thats what it takes for making mash for moonshine

  • a cup isnt suppose to be a real CUP CUP

  • i thought you were not supposed to agitate the yeast?

  • If I made it, and aged it for a long time (3-4 years) would it go bad? Or would it age like normal wine?

  • @Rfprimm if you store it in the way wine is ment to be stores i would assume it would only get better but you never know when its the cheap stuff liek this...

  • @SmokeyandtheBandit77 Alright thanks

  • hey there! thanks for the video bro! however, we don't have wine yeast here..if i use ordinary yeast how much should i use?

  • Thanks for the great video!

  • do we need to use baloon in the bottleneck? because i see from the internet it's the way to we know if the yeast worked well or not

  • Bad ass. Gonna have to give this a try.

  • Cheers!

  • Will It still have the same alcohol content at 14 days rather than 3 months, Or is letting it wait just about the flavor?

  • ever make home-made potato vodka?

  • Great video!!! I can't wait to make this!!!

  • can you make this with welchs concord grape juice cocktail? please respond

  • what a beast

  • why don't you just go buy beer the drink it?

  • @blahblahblah1000z that's the real redneck way

  • me and my dad made some of this about 3 weeks ago and like you said,, it's horrible right now lol...we are going to let it sit for a few months as you suggested...also,,i didnt catch exactly how much of the juice you pour out of the bottle before you pour the sugar in...and also didn't catch how much sugur you pour into the bottle....

  • That's pretty much the way we make Prison Break Wine

  • So its 5:20am on Thursday December 22,2011....I just made 2 like 5 mins ago and I did it the way you did it but instead of wine yeast i used Active dry yeast....excited now lets play the waiting game...

  • does it have a very strong smell?

  • nice vid. check out some of my techniques and advice @ my channel carsonator3000

  • How large is that juice container? (fl oz)? and how many grams is the yeast?

  • @crazyswayzefootage If you get a Hydrometer you can figure our the alcohol content, however I didn't have one at the time but the ABV outcome was quite high, around 12- 14% ,Cheers!

  • If you use a balloon then you poke holes in it. Also the wine should take at least 30 days or more for a good batch of wine. One wine brewer to another.

  • @slymgudy Sure,It doesn't hurt,I fermented for 14 days, then stored it in dark dry place for well more then a month before I sampled it for the first time,Cheers!

  • Ready with cherosene, Viappioshred.

  • @LordD4thLevel bella lomo...

  • Lord will incinerate this guy for this atrocity

  • @viappioshred bella viappio....

  • SHAKE THE CRAP OUTTA IT!

  • Well I was hoping to use my comments on this video to tell me how long I had my batch sitting, but I guess they got removed for some reason.... Im thinking its been around 3 months though.

  • I just started fermentation of some of this stuff last night. It's looking good so far. But I read on a different site that the size of the ventilation at the top REALLY effects it. If there isn't enough room for CO2 to escape, the wine spoils, but if the ventilation is too large, it turns to vinegar? Seems odd to me, please clarify :D

  • @ElitePCJumper In winemaking you always leave it open for the first five day period called the primary fermentation.....After the first five days you place a water seal at the top....

  • @46spine So if I'm doing it the way shown in this vid, after 5 days I should screw the cap on all the way?

  • will \this give you diabetes? xD

  • Wine for Wal-Mart orcs.

  • so can you drink it after the 14 days? is it good? how much alc. is in it would you say?

  • @gregorygregorio1 hahahahah u just wanna get drunk!

  • @weedmanx17 haahahhahaah =) not neccessarily

  • this guy is canadian but is not rep'n hockey. how weird

  • Does this video actually work?

  • throw another shrimp on the barbie! (refer to the austria comment..)

  • @lexusowner PULLOVER! No its a cardigan but thanks for noticing.

  • Comment removed

  • so it took you about a month and a half to make, i bet it took one night to get rid of it.

  • the yeast is sopposed to dissolve right??!

  • What can happen if I add way too much yeast?

  • do i need to cook this wine after 3 months of fermentation?

  • Comment removed

  • Do you have to strain the product before you drink it?

  • how big are those bottles what are they 2 litre ?

  • HAHA I have my first batch fermenting right now with a condom...gonna try the lid next time

  • i trying wine with real grapes day 6 it taste and smells like beer

  • Buying the two bottles alone probably costs more than a couple wine bottles....

  • i didnt even let mine sit 14 days and damn does it have a kick i bottled 2 bottles one to drink on an the other one im let it sit for a good two months

  • what is the shorest amount of time you should let it sit

  • I just made some, not the white kind the good ol purple stuff. Store brand but hey, I'm sure it'll turn out just fine. I made some apple wine about a month ago, 1 cup sugar per 1 cup apples. I tried it recently and WOW! Too damn sweet! Tho, do you think if I let it go another 2 months I'll have something better? Or maybe less sugar? And thanks for your vid, you are pretty good at the whole video thing, just try not to trip over any toys! Cheers!

  • Does it matter how long it sets as long as it is 14 days? Does letting it set longer affect the Quality good or bad?

  • ive just started a batch im just waiting to see what it taste like hope it turns out good

  • Great video!

  • is this like from concentrate? or is it concentrate? meaning you mix it with water or do you drink it straight our the bottle?

  • @mechreports1 i made this it burns just like whisky

  • Respond to this video... i love this mix i had it at a party last night and we all got wasted on it tho i mixed t with reg fast yeast and pure sugar and i used grape and some other type of juice and had it wait 2 monthes and it was amayzing

  • @DEATHSDOOMSDAY nice so u let it age for 2 months?

  • How much yeast should I use for a 64oz bottle? I am using bread yeast.

  • yankee!!

  • @fabianromano how do you ferment it

  • Nice vid but can the redneck now tech me how to make moon shine haha.... Please

  • do you have to use wine yeast and is there a legal age to buy that

  • this seems more expensive than just buying a 10 dollar bottle of wine lol

  • newengland accent is not red neck, thumbs down

  • I am making wine for the first time...I used a 5 gallon water container..added the fruit(cranberries, white grapes and lemons)...added sugar and yeast..its definatly ferminting...and I took a taste this moring (6th day)...and I can definatly taste alcohol..lol actually got a small buzz....I am looking for a apple cinnamon receipt could you possibly help me with this

  • Is it ok if i add to much yeast?

  • Comment removed

  • can you use normal yeast that you would use for bread

  • Wine making yeast won't survive at high alcohol levels, your end product will just have a bunch of residual sugar left. I'd slow your roll and go out and purchase some Mad Dog, buddy.

"Now if I don't trip over any more god damn toys, we'll be good to go."

  • how do i get it to be more than 12% alcohol?? I was looking for more like 30%-40% :)

  • @VulgarDisplayofBLS

Yeast don't survive more than 12% alcohol .The way drinks with more than 12% are made is, they make a 12% drink by fermenting, and then they DISTILL to concentrate the alcohol.

  • great vid dude. make one for sake wine

  • wat was real funny was i started retailing them and made gud profit from the locals..

  • hey pretty cool. we all have differences in making wine..but next time very low boil ur sugar with some of ur juice and wen u put the yeast in do it slowly and stir.like making concrete.lol..oh ya i did my at my job at a beer store. id did them out of glass arizona bottles and they game out with gud wine aromas amd taste..silly boss was to dum to kno wat they were

  • dose the yeast make a diffrence because i used reguler yeast and i got alot of sediment in the bottom even after i filtered it so how do i get rid of that

  • Ive done mine bubbles have stopped fermenting around a week not sure if i should re-activate it with a bit of sugar or strain it then fridge it i did have a taste it tastes like wine bit strongish tho what do you suggest?

  • @Chole154

After it stops bubbling you have to close the lid tight so oxygen can not get in and go for another 2 weeks at least. That is the anaerobic fermentation part, and that is when alcohol is made, before that the yeast was just growing.

  • @fabianromano hey after it stopped bubbling I let it sit for a week then I started filtering it. It smells like alcohol no doubt, is it going to turn into vinegar?

  • @dinosaur4

I don't think so if you filter it. The store grape juice is Concord grapes. They say to get tasty wine out of it you have to bottle and store for some time. At least 6 months, but 1-2 years is optimal, all that wild taste will go away with aging.

Ideally you want to make a few gallos every year, store it, and star consuming in the 2nd year so you allways have relatively good wine for like 1-2 dollars per bottle.

  • Jake - (is that your name?) how did your batch turn out? Ron (A mainlander 2nd generation Newfie)... loved your recipe - cant wait to try it

  • cane sugar is the best for this

  • Comment removed

  • how long should i let it ferment before i strain it?

  • i'm very very very desperate to make ethanol for my chemistry class. i just want to ask what else can i use if i don't have yeast?!?!?!? i failed 2x just bcoz i can't make some ethanol. if there will be no one to answer this will be my 3rd time. and again i have to scavenge old bottles of wine with some left overs. and i use it and keep on failing. i have tried this 5x but it keeps on failing...

  • @emmettebrown Sorry this video was intended for that purposes you will have to search elsewhere for that particular topic,Thanx!

  • @jakeanddar i strained my grape juice/wine but it still has gooy gunk on the bottom, so i strained it 2 more times but it seems to keep making the gunk. What do I do now, strain it again?

  • @emmettebrown dude go check out craigtube on youtube and search for hard apple cider on his channel =)

  • @DevonHomeBrew just tell me what else can I use if I don't have yeast?

  • @emmettebrown raisens just make your they dont have sulphites on them =) they product yeast for somereason

  • @emmettebrown You can use bread yeast from the store that is cheap, or you can leave the bottle open outside for an afternoon, and wild yeast will get into the juice and ferment it. to get the ethanol out you'd need to distill it which is more complicated. You can buy ethanol at the drug store for like $1 it's just denated with a little bit of stuff so you can't drink it.

  • @emmettebrown yahoo answers brah prolly get a better answer then youtube lol

OR ask your teacher if he isnt a total dbag he will help u. IF he is a total Dbag set his books on fire and dance naked through the class room.

  • @emmettebrown

Use baker's yeast from the store, is cheap. And instead of grape Juice just disolve cane sugar in water. There has to be a recipe online. Probabl about 1-1.5 glasses of sugar in 1 gallon of water. that will get you a ~12% ethanol sugary solution for like under 1 dollar. Is not good alone but can be mixed with other stuff to make cocktails

  • @emmettebrown make ethanol with corn

  • @emmettebrown Why dont you just use bread yeast from a local store? Its like a dollar, not as great as wine yeast but it will make alcohol.

  • @emmettebrown Just use bread...

  • @emmettebrown Ethanol alcohol is converted when the yeast approx *24%sugar solution approx 1 cup per gallon. usearound 1/2 a packet of regular cooking yeast (dont use very rapid active yeast) the bacteria (yeast) attaches to the sugar causing a chemical reaction (fermentation) it needs to have a airtrap to release carbon monoxide pressure produced or u will have a big BOOM! it has to be kept between 65 and 75 degrees F. under 75f vinager is produced. bittter bitter good luck Joseph M

  • @emmettebrown .....try and try until you succeed.. theirs no other way just use brewers yeast or wine yeast and dont ever use bread yeast and make your work more hygienic bare in mind that this process needs the help of bacteria coming from yeast to undergo the process of fermentation so keep your work sterile.

  • @emmettebrown organic grapes have natural yeasts on them

  • hey man nice video, i just started making some wine just for the fun and all i did was, i got one of them small icecream containers its 4 litres of rasberries and just as much suger then i poured it into a 5 gallon pail, added warm warm water, filled the pail full, i did not add any yeast, now all i do is stear it once a day for 2 weeks, and she,s all done, cheers, (if u add yeast u dont have to stear it, if u don,t add yeast then u have to stear it once a day for 10 sec,)

  • thank God u mention bread yeast,, cause i was a bit frustrated, i live on an island an i dont know where to get that special liquor yeast,, well thank u for this i cant wait to try this,, thanks*)

  • seriously, where the fuck do you think your from

  • just to let yall know when you mix it and let it depressurize do not tighten the cap... it sounds like a shotgun and makes a HUGE mess i know this because it is 12:21 am here and it just so happens that i blew grapejuice and yeast all over my closet now my room smells like a brewery and i'm hoping i can get away with it before my parents notice.... yea right lol oh well worth a try

  • How much sugar should I add to each 64 oz bottle if i want a sweeter wine?

  • @Aborza123 Atleast 2cups for 64 oz.. Ive done it maybe 5 times, Im not an expert but i dont think using too much sugar can hurt. 2/ half cups should have it pretty sweet

  • @Aborza123 no need to add more sugar just stop fermenting earlier by straining it off to get most of the yeast out of there and then storing it!

  • @Aborza123 what i do is let the fermentation take all the sugar so u get a good hard wine, with plenty of brain cell killing power.. than taiste it.. if u want it sweeter freeze it to stop all fermentation.. than thaw and add sugar to make it as sweet as u like ... hope this helps ya =-P good luck

  • My mother started making wine when she was 15 out of whatever she could get (Kool-aid and Tang, mostly) and I made my first bottle out of apple juice, which was also kept in a closet where the parents couldnt get it. I enjoyed your video because it brought back memories and rekindled my interest in wine making now that I am old enough to do it legally :D

  • what do i do after 2 weeks?

  • @75joas you filter/straine it. then u put it back in ur closet and wait like 2,3 months for it to age

  • My favorite thing about youtube is that no matter what the topic, you're always surrounded by experts who offer helpful and considerate advice in the comments. They are so smart!

This hooch sounds awesome. It reflects my brewing philosophy: "step 1: put some crap in a bucket with some yeast. step 2. wait. step 3. party!"

  • seems like my wine has been fomenting like crazy and leaked a bit, is it ok to go a head and strain? Only been setting for like a week.

  • @WiggleMin666

You can use concentrate from a winery

  • @Levipaulsen

Im talking about concentrate from grapes from a winery not a grocery store you stupid dog fucking pedophile

  • @405OklahomaBrewingYour comments are extremely rude. Youtube is not the venue for this kind of language. I like the video and until I proved otherwise I would not comment on whether it works or not. Having said that, keep your trashy talk amongst your friends. That is, if you have any.

  • @sunfire1265 shut the hell up motherfucker i have alot of friends

  • The good stuff is at a wine shop or gathering fruit, ive made wine for 5 years and im definently not steering people in the wrong way

  • I put like 4 cups of sugar and 1 packet of yeast with a 1 liter v8 fusion. It's like half fruit juice and half vegetable. Anyone know if it'll work?

  • @WiggleMin666

No not all grape juices work, the best grape juice to use is concentrate where you can add the sugar, he is using juice that already has sugar in it because he is a cheap bastard
