Because 90% of the people that fill Michigan Stadium are 60 and above and get mad at you if you stand and cheer.  It does get decently loud, but not as loud as it could be. Even I have to admit, most of us Michigan fans are snobs and think we're going to win every week whether we cheer them on or not.

That is horse crap. Most Michigan fans are NOT snobs. Sure, we are confident in our team, but that is NOT the same thing as snobbery. Real Michigan fans (and I know what those are -- I had season tickets for 30 years) actually RESPECT the other team, as well as the visiting fans. A snob would look down on others. We do cheer less (and many sit) during some plays, because we paid a lot of money to WATCH the game. We're always louder for defense, and especially for 3rd down defense.

I think this was early in the game when Oregon was held to a field goal. Then Michigan went up 7-3 and would never again have the lead. I think the Michigan fans probably already had the wind knocked out of them from the Appalachian State loss. Oregon led 32-7 at halftime. In the second half, they went easy on them because they felt sorry for them (only scoring one extra TD), including going for it on 4th and long with a run up the gut when they could have chip shotted an easy field goal.
