Thank you for that. Michael Landon was always a favourite of mine, I would never be able to see where he was buried if it wasn't for this video! Thanks!
Sad watching this after I just watched his last interview on Carson. I also had cancer (kidney) and I was told I was cancer free now. I know what it's like to have the wrong attitude thinking you're going to die. He was so brave looking and it's a shame.
R.I.P. Michael Landon!! Beautiful gravesite!! Me & my hubby Robby wish to go and visit his gravesite one day!! we love u since watching Little House On The Prairie!! We love your smiling face especially when u played Charles Ingalls!! u were a angel on earth & now your a angel in heaven!!
I read a story about Michael. They say he was really into giving to Charities. They say that more of his estate went to charities when he died then what went to his family.
When you read the history of Michael Landon, you've got to respect him for thing other than being an actor. He kept his show on a family level despite pressure from networks to make it more violent. Very family oriented. I believe he was actually jewish, but used the christian values in his show in keeping with the time it was based on, and doing so,, honoured both the religion, the time, the people, and his own values.
You see this man was loved and is loved still, his family showed they really cared for him his grave is full of the love they have for him. His grave is not like the other graves all abandon. Thank you for posting it. I loved Mr. Landon he was a great actor.
I really didn`t realize he died in 1991. When someone like Michael Landon goes home, they leave so much of their lives with so many who were blessed by them. Michael Landon touched so many lives through his life and hard work. RIP
Me too. He was my adopted tv daddy. Growing up, during LHONTP time, my actual father was the town drunk. He's been clean and sober for over 20 years now, Thank Goodness. But I idolized Landon, because he was the pa I wanted so badly at the time. And when he died in 91, it was like I lost a family member. I cried for days after that. It's hard to believe he's been gone for over 18 years. Now he really is an angel.
That is so funny I felt the same way. My dad was killed when I was 3 and I thought Michael Landon as my Dad. I even named my only son Landon after him.
Michael Landons oldest son just died recently, a few weeks ago. He was actually adopted by Michael Landon from his 1st marriage. I still watch "Little House on the Prairie" and feel sad that he is gone. What a great laugh he used to have - well I'm sure he still has it up in heaven!
@weneedhelp123 Hahaha! If there is one thing I will remeber about him, it is his super great laugh! xD and of c ourse Little Joe Cartwright! Still watch Bonanza today! <3
I don;'t think I can handle going there, even 18 yrs later. Still not 'over it'. It is painful in the deepest way. That show is like my surrogate father. I learned how to write scripts from watching that show. I seriously think we should form a Landon mourning support group.
And that's what it's all about, love, share, family and friends..understanding each other.I 've never seen Bonanza or Little house, but I saw Highway to heaven in 1.985 and I really love the series since then.
im pushing on now and its so sad to think back of a fantastic actor and human as him... i loved the show . it had everything in it . most of all innocence.. what age was Michael when he died? and what from? may he rest in peace...

Yeah, this video was shot in 1997 long before Youtube. It was mainly for ourselves, but we thought we'd share it anyway. I hope we have improved since then. We do have the pictures on our website. Thanks for the comment.
It is such a powerful thing to stand at the grave of a famous person, particularly one that you admired and idolized. Their grave is kind of a monument to their life. We video tape in order to share with others. Pictures are great, but they don't capture the setting and that moment of discovery when you first come upon someone's grave. This is kind of an over-simplification, but I hope it in some way answered your question.
they probably do it as a form of respect and be able to share it with those of us that will never get the chance to do so. Dont spose you could head to NY and get a video of Lillian Gish's plaque for me...
Wow, I'm sorry to say we were in New York in 2007 and we didn't even realize she was there! She was right there in Manhattan. She was amazing. We have no immediate plans to return to New York, but when we do, she is at the top of the list.
Where is this grave? Is is open to the public? I noticed that there seemed like a glass door around it but it looked like people dropped off flowers and photos. Sad he is gone! That's what 4 packs a day of cigarettes and alcohol does to you. Patrick Swayze didn't learn his lesson either. He's been given a 2nd chance at life and goes to his chemo appointments with cigarettes hanging from his lips. His wife should bring Patrick to this grave!
It is in Hillside Memorial Park in LA, right behind the main mausoleum. You can approach the gravesite, but the glass doorway is locked and open only to family members. You are right about the smoking. It is one tough habit to break.
He was a genius, he show the familily values,in every episode of The little house and Highway to heaven, he gave us a lot. God bless you and thanks to have been part of my life.
It's right here on YouTube. You can sort of tell the battle was already over in the Carson clips. He joked around and carried on, introducing a clip of his new fall pilot (a failed show called "Us"), and was talking about an alternate future "if he makes it"... but you can just tell that he didn't believe a word of what was coming out of his own mouth. Sad and poignant, especially now, but a fun interview. Worth watching.
p.s. They (Johnny and Michael) carried on the conversation as if he might make it, told the bad jokes, etc. But it's obvious to the viewer he was coming on to say good-bye.
He was on a lot. He was that star of I Was A Tenage Werewolf. He was Little Joe Cartwright in Bonanza. Charles Ingalls in Little House On The Prairie. Also Jonathan Smith in Highway To Heaven. He was in a lot more too. He was the best actor and that will never change.
I wouldn't look to any tv show or characters therein as an example because it's a highly filtered reality.
BUT...

Michael was one of my favorite actors and persons when i was a young child.
I was about 6 years old when the Bonanza show appeared on Dutch TV.
I runned around the salon table with my older sister in law, pretending being on a horse when the Bonanza tune started.
I will never forget that.
In those days he was my hero, and later in the time of Little house on the prairie,he was my model for a big brother or father.
