  • @bassmandeadguns84 this kid has some skill maybe you're just jelous

  • @jtutone28

    you crazy

  • That was actually quite satisfying to hear from such a young man. My advice would be to explore the boundaries of the bass' capabilities, though, rather than trying so hard to copy what's already been done. You seem to have a talent for it, so why not go for it? Good luck!

  • So rad! Go dude go!

  • Freaking awesome

  • Incredible. Never stop.

  • Wow this is amazing playing. It's also a four year old video. I'm afraid to hear how good you are now :P

  • for that age.. good. but where is the soul? I don't hear it..

  • @blackpanthermusic you don't know what your talking about pal

  • @blackpanthermusic children don't have souls

  • Absolutely Brilliant! Please ignore the jeolous and insecure remarks from those who wish they were You! "Our young friend IS a MASTER!"

  • The universe creates more and more talent.

  • There is sth wrong with the door and the poster on the back...lol Now what?

  • whatever you used to recording this, it doesn't do it justice.

  • heavy, good job kid.

  • cool!!!!

  • rock on kid !

  • This is very nice, although it felt a little rushed.

  • This kid shows that there still is hope for youngster today :)

  • he looks like a young michael cera

  • 上手い!!!!!!すげええええええ!!!俺も負けてらんねえわ!!!

  • This song is a masterpiece. Jaco cast a magical spell when he recorded it. I fell in love with it immediately upon hearing it and of course wanted to figure it out myself. I feel such joy & peace when I play it even though I can only navigate portions of it. Our young friend is not yet a master, but I applaud his efforts. With enough time & effort, he may develop some magic of his own. Follow your bliss, amigo.

  • you know folks...checkin out dudes like him makes me wanna stop bass playing straight up !

but then again i still wanna go on and achieve great things it's just harder and harder to do so after seeing such young guys already bein' like 10 years better than i am on that instrument :D

props to this guy and God shoudda tell me "yo,you gonna play bass so start it NOW!" like 10 years before -.-

  • aun hay futuro para esta sociedad :)

  • I love Jaco .Been playin 35yrs,depending on the music, you better get a good rock lick.

  • good job young brother

  • Man, that was awesome. You got a hell of a future ahead of ya

  • Well done overall. Not perfect, but to be fair I was 19 before I could play this song well. Keep up the good work!

  • Good job! Jaco would be so proud!

  • Kick ass job.

  • WOW, really good. too bad the audio quality isn't that great for such a great performance of a great song.

  • good work boy :)

  • I wish you play bass now.

  • You are incredible and your natural talent and thirst for excellence are here for all to see. You seem the age that would enjoy Star Wars The Clone Wars. I have included a little comedy video merging 2 of my favorites. Jaco & Star Wars. I hope it brings you a bit of smile and reminds you to always keep some fun. Peace:-)

  • Great job!! I'm proud of you. Glad to see that some kids are still in tune with greatness.... not Justin Beiber or bs things big companies push on them to accept! Wish I knew who you were though.

  • Wow. I wish I had an ear like that at that age...

  • いるよねたまにこういう神童みたいな子

  • Who are you? It is so great!

  • Whoa! Excellent job, young man!

  • wow man that was great! i really enjoyed that piece!

  • Oh my god...you're amazing...what is the bass?

  • is that a bass overdrive, and is it on while recording this video clip?

  • Really nice cover! your so talented, do us a favor keep playing and posting your videos please !, greetings from Mexico.

  • well lets see... if willwh1993 means you were born in 1993, that means you're my age.....and that means when you were around 13 you could pull off that last harmonic-- (9)13... (bridging at the 9th fret while striking the harmonics at the 13th fret).....and thats phenomenal. what a reach.

  • excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn you nailed it! Nice to see some true talent out there.

  • awasome!!!!

  • great job dude, I wanna be like you when I grow up ;)

  • omg....he nailed it. What talent...

  • that better be a midget or im going to be really pissed.

  • Holy crap.

  • heheehe yeahh boy!1

  • Much respect to you for this. Good job, I liked the fact that you seemed to be "feeling" what your playing as opposed just playing it. Keep going and my the "Bass Gods" continue to smile on you.

    Peace Bro

  • BRAVO!!!

  • That is some beautiful playing... And amazing taste in music.

    Stay inspired! :)

  • This kid is awsome, you gonna go far kid!

  • FINALLY A KID WHO DOESN'T PUT HIS AGE IN THE TITLE :)

  • @BassmrDK I didn't put my age in the title ;P

  • @skulliz yeah that's what I said

  • @skulliz Wait I thought you were someone else - But keep in mind that I haven't watched every video on youtube - Including yours

  • Very nice kid!! You got some talent there!

  • are you a kid or a midget?

doesn't means to offense you, but you're skill is far above your age. FTW

  • Oh man this lifts my heart!

  • Added 2007....is there an update? I want to see you tear it up today, Sir!

  • This kid has got some talent there. Keep it up man, great work

  • Right on child keep on keepin on

  • very nice job!!!!!

  • wow amazing, goob job man.

  • NICE!

  • Nice! Is that a Warwick Rockbass corvette?

  • Young man you are awesome!! What a demanding challenge you set for yourself (learning to play "Tracy"). I have been a Jaco fanatic since 1976 and I love your playing very much. You probably already know Alphonso Johnson, but I wanted to mention his name on the off chance you have not heard it. He is another tremendous bass player you will want to listen to. My dad was a world renowned musician and he always said to listen to as much music as you can. That was his secret. You are special

  • muito bom o garoto!!!

  • I think his bass is fine...kids now a days like to listen guitarists whether it be blues, jazz, acoustic or anything for that matter...They discover that music is awesome and takes us away from regular everyday lives into a whole new world....The world of music....

  • Oh, and shut up about the bass itself, you nerds are missing the point.

  • @lagodacisne pft youre the type people pitty >XD

  • Fucked it all up, timing is way off. Half the time the kid is rushing through the easy parts (the beginning was terrible) and the other half of the time he fell so behind the beat that the whole thing seemed atempotic - and don't say that it's just free jazzing it. No sense of rhythm, sloppy, horrible cover.

  • @lagodacisne Chill out, he's like 13. You couldn't play it.

  • @lagodacisne Oh you're sassy!

  • @lagodacisne So wheres your upload of you playing anything like this....those who can......... DO.

    those who cannot...CRITIQUE

I'm shocked this kid even heard of GUNS N ROSES ...let alone JACO.

  • @lagodacisne R U kidding? He's barely big enough to hold the bass.Yes, his timing is suspect however he is just learning. Could you have not been a little more courteous in your critique? The kid has learned all the parts. Once he gets the feel of piece and tightens up his timing it will be very very good. Great work little bass fud. Keep on playing.

  • @lagodacisne keep on trollin'. A 13 year old kid isn't going to play it exactly like Jaco's studio recording. I'd love to see your cover of this song.

  • @lagodacisne

    He's free jazzing it.

  • dude... that was awesome. you have monster hands which means your versatility can only go up. or has only gone up... but that was insane

  • holy...fucking...wow

  • Seriously little man, good job. Props to your teacher or whoever got you into Jaco.

  • @Ergodyne187 he probably got himself into jaco.. just saying

  • @Ergodyne187 not all kids have to be told to like something, and this is an amazing cover

  • I love it when kids reach beyond their own genereations music and research and learn from the previous masters......keep practicing young man!!!

  • すごいねーーー?

    ルックスもいいし^^

  • o.O

  • Amazing! you're reborn Jaco! great!

  • brilante! no pares de tocar NUNCA!

  • omg fucking amazing

  • holyshi... amazing

  • Amazing, for your age you were/ are impressive

  • very impressive. pretty inspiring

  • terrific job

  • MellowDeFretwell

can you buy me keyboards pls? :D

  • how do i get this sound? i really know how to play harmonics, but they are really quiet, and the normal notes are too loud, so what settings do i have to use??? thx

  • @kra2351 if your bass has a pickup closer to the bridge, crank that one up. Try plucking the strings closer to the bridge like this kid too. Those harmonics should just scream! lol

  • @bigemoney31 If you check out photos and videos of Jaco, look closely and you can see that he moved the bridge pickup closer to the neck in order to get the sweet spots for those 'unnatural' harmonic. I think that's an Ibanez bass the kid's playing (sorry kid I can't see your name anywhere -- are you willwh1993?) with recessed pickups so that wouldn't be an easy job, but on the Fender Jazz it's just surface-mounted so it's only a matter of a few screws.

  • @Nyquistic I'm pretty sure Jaco's Jazz bass was just a 62' Fender Jazz bass and I don't think there would be a way to move the bridge pickup closer to the neck without drilling out of the body. This kid is playing a Warwick Corvette which is pretty dang close to the same single coil configuration, just emphasize the bridge pickup when you're trying to get harmonics to come out clearer is all I'm saying.

  • @bigemoney31 I would not argue with your clearly superior knowledge (I'm not a bassist!) but there are shots out there where you can see the screw holes and the place from where the original pickup was moved -- perhaps not the bass you refer to, but my point is that it might be worth investigating pickup placement for those who are seeking these so-called 'false' harmonics. Check out Pythagoras.

  • keep it up kid wrk hard an U will B there

  • Your left hand looks good. Keep up the great playing, you have the hands of a born bassist!

  • @zepfan5486 look at his profile name, he was born 1993 so he played this with about 14 years, you are right

  • Dude you make this better than me and you are´nt japanese :D!

  • @MetalBaronRojo

    suelo concebir

    el satanico plannn...

    ;)

  • @josenet2006 De tocar mi guitarra a un volumen brutal!!!

  • @MetalBaronRojo

    ah, recuerdos :)

ya se que CD poner en el coche esta tarde.

  • @josenet2006 Jajaja si tengo solo dos discos son muy escasos en mi país tengo el de Bilbao y el Cueste lo que Cueste :(!

  • Dude you make this better than me and you are´nt japanese

  • How old are you?

  • Thank you for sharing; You got good hands! Much Love!

  • this kid again yay! saw his cover of more love a week ago.

  • Very well done, I would also be happy to sponsor you by way of a donation for tuition or better equipment.

  • congratulations kid,

  • this kid is insane

  • congratulations liked to see

  • Dude, how long have you been playing Bass? I'm 17 and i've been playing for a year and a half, and i'm nowhere near this good!

  • Bud, you're incredible. Nuff said.

  • And that's a few years ago? Wow. I really hope this kid keeps playing and improving. We've got another great one on the way if he does.

  • I really wish I had started to play a few years ago... I'm about this age, but I might not be able to conquer such a song.

  • Jaco was one of the best bass players that ever lived. If you practice you someday might be as good. But, he mental problems as many great artistis have, so maybe if you aren't crazy you can never reach his level.

  • u are huge talent

  • u are very talent

  • Great job kid you have a future with the bass

  • Excellent! Props not only for being able to pull this off so well technically, but just as much for your pacing and and musicality...you need a lot more than just chops to bring this one to life, and you completely do it justice...keep it up!

  • Guns and Roses? LOL

  • Keep it up, you can only get better, and don't let anyone tell you you're too young to play well, cause you rocked this!

  • If anyone knows who this kid is, contact me asap, I will seriously buy him a bass. All joking aside. Please like this so I can get this kid a better bass and camera!

    Thank you.

  • @MellowDeFretwell You are aware this was posted in 2007?

  • @cheerskiwi No man. Because I cant read: Added - 3 years ago.

Nope couldn't tell. What I could tell is that is video is still constantly watched therefore still a chance for someone to know who he is. Also, ive been in contact with him via email. He's well off with a better bass and WAY better skills apparently. So yeah. kthnbye

  • @MellowDeFretwell Are you a bit dull? My point being was that I'm sure in over 3 years, the kid already has a better bass and camera. Think a bit before taking a sarcastic tone..

  • @MellowDeFretwell if i make a video will you buy me keyboards 2 pls? xD Korg or rolland better no yamaha

  • @MellowDeFretwell

His bass is fine, It's a Warwick Corvette, pretty well crafted basses, even the Rockbass series

  • @MellowDeFretwell

dude a warwick corvette active isn't that bad :p. he needs a better amp, pleasee.

  • @buefyYT It's a Warwick Rockbass Corvette. (Rockbass is to Warwick like Squier to Fender ;) )

  • @BassGrindcore rockbass isn't that bad. I wouldn't knock them down to squier level, they're damn good basses.

  • @buefyYT I know, they're really well-crafted basses. There are some really great Squiers too, btw. I meant that as a comparison, just in case you didn't know Rockbass was a "second brand", like entry-level or more affordable models.

  • @BassGrindcore oh yeah, but i'm just saying that I feel like his bass isn't bad, MEC active pickups are great, what he would need if anything is a new amp... hartke?

  • @buefyYT Yup, but Bartolini pickups (which are stock on Warwicks) are the best I've heard. Hartke is really good, I love aluminum cones, but when it comes to amps, EBS and Aguilar are the best choices I think (although you can never go wrong with the classic old Ampeg).

  • @BassGrindcore

Bartolini? lies xP. they come with MEC's dude, and I would not knock those pups, because they're great. I prefer MEC's and Hartke head with Ampeg cabs, but that's just for like a victor wooten-esque style. I'll take my old J-Bass and my vintage Cabs anyday xp

  • @buefyYT My bad dude! I was confused. Yeah, that's right MEC pickups rule, but I still prefer Bartolinis. You and I are different bass players ;) I play extended range basses (7 string) and I like my tone as bright as possible.
