  • Anne & Nancy needed to trade shirts with the bass player.

Madonna makes the rock n roll hall of fame but REAL musicians don't?

Somethings really wrong on this planet...

  • Progresive rock...influences..progresive..Led Zeppelin..jetro tull,Yes,genesis...kansas..etc..

  • They kicked ass,period......Heart was the only "girl included" rock band i had to look up to as a teen.Other than the Runaways and Stevie Nicks.....All members of Heart played their asses off.I like the Zeppelin-esc tunes they do.Anne and Nancy were justified rock and rollers....no need for any mans stamp of approval. They did what myself and other girls wished they could have done.Girls CAN rock and roll....

  • Hey, they were giving Jethro Tull a run for the money. Still sounds pretty fresh.

  • Kay wazoo, awesome.

The band showing their prog rock ability.

  • Kay wazoo, awesome.

  • what an intro! r2d2 can sing

  • Pure prog rock from big 80's stadium band Heart - bizarre!! Like it though.

  • THE BEST, BEAUTIFUL!

    MARTA

    BRASIL

  • What is the order of the show? I know this is the opener, and Heartless was next, but which came after which after that?

  • What is the order of the show? I know this is the opener, and Heartless was next, but which came which after that?

  • I did not knew Heart could be that "progressive"

  • WTF

  • Is this where Lucas got his R2D2, & some of the other Star Wars sound effects? lol

  • Great nostalgia. I give Michael Derosier his due credits. However, as far as drums go, Denny Carmasi's are unbeatble, (pardon the unintentional pun).

  • That was a nice guitar duet. Ann's flute playing is also amazing. They should have put this on an album.

  • maaaaaaaaaaan. i wish i was there.

  • Methinks that drummer was a lil bit of a Bonham fan.

  • @Obelix5150

Right, that drummer should get some more credit for his work. A real rock drummer.

  • @Smithfieldis

He just goes crazy in Magic Man.

A shame he doesn't get the credit he deserves.

  • muy bueno....muy..muy bueno..........la primera vez que escucho y esta bueno...

  • Nevermind. I found out. It's a Roland SH-1000.

  • What synth is Howard Leese playing at 4:50?

  • @Mikemaniax I don't know but I would also like to find out so I can buy one on eBay, if you find out please let me know. I'm also hungry for a Moog Voyager.

  • Love the flute action!

  • Heart certinly does got the heart

  • 70's was the best age of Heart

  • @Tulase Oh absolutely!!! Not even a question.

  • They were so serious about music back then. I never thought the state of music would one day be complete shit like it is now.

  • psicodelic.

  • leprocaun rock!

  • Does anyone know the name of this song? Is it "Mainstage"? I NEED to find a recording of this one! So amazing!!

  • To garytheagnostic--thanks for sending the information----Heart sure was a great group-----I wish I could have gone to one of their concerts--anyway I lived a year in Seattle back in the seventies--and I share an apartment with a fellow who went to school with the Wilson girls--this guy and I work at the same bank at that time.

  • I have fun with these comments on different music--but you my wife and have been married a long time and she always has said that our taste in music was never the same--she like her music and I like mine--but heart is one group we both like.

  • My wife and I have all the records made by heart---and I cannot find this performace---My wife was a heart fan also.

  • They had a side project known as "The Love Mongers" for awhile as well.

  • This must be the coolest band on earth!

  • I feel like I've just struck GOLD!!!!....My HEART junkie cravings have been fixed and I almost overdosed on that one!....DAMN!...Why didnt anyone ever release that on cd or dvd.....I really wish they'd put out a dvd of their vintage best and esspecially the actual video footage of the photo shoot for the Little Queen lp that does exist because Ive seen it about 20 yrs ago on a documentory about women in rock on pbs or something but couldnt get it recorded. It was so fucking cool! Any 1 know ?

  • @MrMedusaLvamp that Little Queen Photo Shoot footage was shown on the Midnight Special when the album and promotions came out. i'm not sure it it was shot FOR The Midnight Special (probably not) or whether it was supplied to the show as promotional material (probably). i'd like to see it again too. fortunately someone HAS uploaded the Dog And Butterfly promotional material - namely the version of "High Time" that has Howard and Ann and Nancy on rollerskates reheasrsing during setup.

  • Jethro Tull has nothin on this babe

  • @mucephi1 Jethro Tull was a band not a person. Ian Anderson was the lead singer and flute player. Ann Wilson was a good flute player but Ian Anderson was WAY better. That dude was like a virtuoso level flute player. Ann was a better singer though, love them both.

  • Bizarre was for the first minute and a half...after that it was super. Sorry you took this the wrong way Zenophobius!

  • awesome, R2D2 and 2XL introduce the band!

  • This "Second Ending " show, was this in Canada?

  • Pullman, WA

  • @Chipi64

Not Canada. This aired on KWSU (the WSU stands for Washington State University), the PBS station in Pullman, Washington. You see the call letters from about 0:22 to 0:26.

  • great, just great

  • LOVE.

  • A little bizarre, but I have always loved Heart and the flute is really great! Ann & Nancy rule!

  • bizarre? This is Heart at their greatest in my opinion

  • Very cool sheeaattt...I can relate to ther hair and clothes. 'HEART HAS TO BE INDUCTED IN TO THE R N R HOF"

  • I would love the original 6

but they will blow it from the getgoi with modern gear!!

frigging roger fisher plays a crappy strat now

and for god sakes.. imagine this song with anything but a minimoog and a korg micro preset synth

    garbage!!!

love the gear love the sounds

AND WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE CABINETS

    AMAZING!!!!

  • Thanks for mentioning the name of the Korg micro preset synth Howard Leese was using. The Minimoog I figured out myself :D, but I always wondered what the other one was ;)

  • f'ing incredible

  • roger fisher AMAZING better than slash and page no doubt heart is overall better than zeppelin

  • I like Heart to & Roger Fisher is a good guitarist but you my friend are getting carried away! He is no where near the talent that Jimmy Page or Slash is.... No way!

  • yea right any cover that heart does with roger sounds so much better listen to there version of Rock n Roll live in 1978 on youtube also here song, devil delight, sing child, white lightning and wine (live in 78 on youtube), magic man, and crazy on you so much better guitar work than slash or page. page plays to repetivly (sp) in all of his songs except stariway (why do u think it was to famous?

  • RARE clip. I am so happy to have found this on you tube. Thanks.

  • that was the oddest intro ever. awesome song.

  • What song is this?

  • Mainstage?

  • Yeah, but did they ever record it on an album or single?

  • THANKS!!!!!

  • They F$%^#*& RAWKKK!!!!!

  • Very nice. Thanks for posting.

  • DAMN! I already thought HEART Rocked as hard as anyone during the 70's, but this "progressive rock" piece is really unique. this version of the band was DA BOMB! no two ways around it,

I'm glad some people were able to find some of this old school stuff to post. Totally makes it like the good old days. 'cept through a computer monitor....

  • Really enjoyed this. Thanks for uploading. They are so talented!!

  • wow! pretty funky!

  • I want to repeat what mumpitzkiesel said.

  • Thank God for YouTube & Chipi! I would never have known about this brilliant gem. I'm a long time Heart fan and never ever knew this existed. Thank you!

  • Coolest Heart song i've ever heard.

  • That was way too cool. Great stuff. How they haven't been inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame is beyond me...

  • I called a number that was given on another song to recommend their inclusion. I received an e-mail and mini-article back saying the band's "instability" kept them out. Found that other than Ann and Nancy, there's been 22 different band members since their beginnings. I still don't think this should be a reason. They were good ENOUGH for LONG enough before they split.

  • Thanks for the feedback. Indeed there have been many talented bandmates that have come and gone, however let's be honest... the band is and will always be recognized by its two "lady" members. The induction to the R&R HOF should not be "Heart", but rather be stated as "Heart: Ann and Nancy Wilson". I'm sure Roger Fisher, Michael Derosier, and the 20 or so others would understand.

  • Let's face it the band went like this...

    Original Line-up A+ Icon Greatness

    Mach 2 Line-Up B- Very good

Anything from Lovemongers Forward C- Ok to listen to but very mediocre.

  • I don't think so. Roger started the band wrote many songs. The guitar work is his not Nancy's. the leads are his as well. Lets face it if you like old Heart a major reason is because of Roger. It seems he's been left out because of some cheating on Nancy. You take Ann, Roger, and the Drummer they are the best in the Band and most talented. The band lost it's edge when he left (using sax etc..)If they get in he should get in. The original band was Heart.

  • Yeah, but they could at least give it to the classic lineup. Maybe, they can get the original 6 to reunite for a performance.

  • @JohnGee1977 That has to just be an excuse because Fleetwood Mac was inducted in about 10 years ago and they would be considered to have instability in the same line as Heart. I would have to do some research but I bet they would be very close to having had 22 members. I can count 13 without trying! I agree Heart should be inducted and I don't understand why the industry ins't giving them their honor

  • Ann's being Jethro Tull! ha ha! Too cool!

  • Some really rare old stuff here!! Very nice!! Thanks for sharing it!!

  • sweet music, sweet mullets.

  • man this band had so much talent...gotta love Howard making all those funky sounds on that MiniMoog

  • COOL!

  • Wow..what vault did you dig this out of,Roger was

something else, and he's still quite active today.
