@j2cool2 hey man when you turn your PC on hold down "F8" key and it should start your computer in administation safe mode, go to the control panel>user accounts>password options, should be able to turn off pass word to the computer. windows password recovery disk worked for me on Vista, this ophcrack thing blows dude. waste of time.

I can hack it just using a free Linux distribution on a live CD or USB stick... Any Linux distribution can be used to hack Windows . I've used this through the years in different developments and I have to say that a password over 4 digits will not be cracked by this...had it crack one along time ago that was over 4 but not since.....you need active@bootdisk ..it will delete all passwords and works like charm.

@dillinger9999 ophcrack.org is the place to start. Be aware the program itself might not be able to crack your password but you can enhance your chances by downloading the enhancement tables that the program can use. They are also on the homepage for the program...

@foxbcst thank you, I ended up using password changer it worked like a charm, that ophcrack im sure is a great program, i just couldnt get it working for me o that HP laptop, it booted up in ophcrack and I would click the CRACK botton and it would show its woking but i would get nothing showing on the rite. This is why you should use a BIOS password.

@flarn2006 BIOS password is actualy alot more easier to reset than a windows password if you know how :P You just have unplug your computer from the wall (or remove the battery if its a laptop) and take out the small battery on your motherboard (can be difficult on some laptops though) and let it out for a couple of mins. This resets the CMOS (BIOS settings) to default thus removing the BIOS password (continues on next comment)...

@flarn2006 ... the only secure way to password protect a PC is to encrypt the harddrive. That can easly be done with TrueCrypt for example and after the drive has been encrypted even NIST couldn't crack it (Assuming the password is strong)

There is nothing fishy here, a password cracker is never saying a "false positive" password. HE JUST CHOSE AN UGLY SCREEN RECORDER THAT EVEN SAID BUGGY "LMPTY" AND "FMPTY" BUT NOT "EMPTY" IN THE OPHCRACK SESSION. LOL.

Alot of people are saying they burned it and it didn't work...Make sure you are burning this as a BOOTABLE CD..use a program like Nero or Active ISO..If you just take the ISO and burn it to a cd, it won't boot.

anyone who is new to this, look at the text at the bottom of your BIOS screen when you turn it on (there'll be a button assigned to setting boot order or selecting another boot device). The BIOS screen usually has the name of the manufacturer like HP, Acer, Thinkpad, etc. With the CD in your drive- and the drive closed- chose to boot from it after the BIOS screen and it will work :P. I've had loads of experience with booting from live cds

Or you could just use a utility to convert your *.iso into a bootable thumb drive with USB-Creator in ubuntu linux. bypassing the need to buy a expensive USB external cdrom drive. even thou it would be nice to have one laying around in case you want to ever hook up a internal hdd external style.
