She never gives up the trust she has in her friends, and when she makes a wish to help them, the starman hears it and comes to grant it, since that's what they do. (they're sentient to an extent)

@amycute23 The cartoon was based off a mix between SMB 1 and SMB 2 for the NES. Those sprites had a maximum of 4 colours per sprite to work with, so for simplicity sake, her hair was brown. It wasn't changed to blonde until Super Mario World for the SNES, where sprites had more colour options available.

You realize, of course, this was from 1989 or so, and Nintendo of America was calling her Princess Toadstool on various merchandise and media at the time. Same reason why King Koopa is called Bowser over here.

Now, here's something interesting. They use the Princess's American name and Koopa's Japanese name in this series, and now the games use Princess's Japanese name and Koopa's American name. At least Super Mario 3 and Super Mario world cartoons called him King Bowser Koopa.
