And you are right...I always explain to people that a harvest is only a part of what hunting is...and there are so many great things to experience in and around Nature.

i got a 6 point and a doe opening day. then another doe on the 16th and on the 18th i got a 10 point. then on the 20th i got another doe and finally in the 21st i got another doe just before we left. it was a good season for me :)
killing only only bucks is horrible managing of deer. You must control sex ratios if you want to see deer. Too many does and few bucks, give the bucks enough does to stay happy and you never see them, too many bucks and not enough does and you see deer all the time. Kill a couple does, don't just go for those bucks, the bucks will be even bigger the next year, and you'll have a lot easier chance to see them.
yeah it was a terrible day for me. my dad scared away a 12 point and a 6 point and i missed a 7 point and passed up a spike 4 point and button buck lol. still have nothing:( hopefully we both get something this weekend
Maybe telling everyone you've shot 3 bucks and are trying to shoot more in a state where you can only shoot 2 (one of which must have 4 on one side) isn't the best idea. No wonder they don't reach maturity. You're giving your state, all the real hunters, and mostly yourself a bad image. Send the right message and show a little restraint and common sense kid.
I have experienced dozens of opening days in GA,TN and KY.. but there is nothing like and opening day in MI, it just feels different...
