well...not the greatest advice ever. What about when you're already in a community college and are going to transfer out? "Keep taking math in high school" doesn't really help
When I think of states like California or lets say schools in the South (not saying CA is in the south), anyway, I seriously don't think of education. I think of bubble heads out in California or porn freaks.
Ya but many students in our school stop doing math after they finish Algebra 1. They are afraid of work, since math is a difficult class for many people. Pretty easy for me tho, I kinda like math once a while.
Yeah, but then you learn trigonometry (a sort of branch from geometry) and then integrate Trigonometry with Calculus and suddenly the word "easy" escapes from it. Luckily, I stayed in math and am currently further in my math curriculum than my peers so I'm all set for college. Thank God, too.
Once you get into second year calculus, it really has to be taught to you for you to retain anything. I could understand getting by on your own for simple derivatives and integrals, but getting into complex functions, series, and differential equations would be hell without someone there pointing the way. at least for me.
you do realize just because UCLA and USC and top schools doesn't mean they are more important than other school.
for example: just because schools like UCR and CSULB don't get as much publicity as "important schools" like UCLA and USC do doesn't mean they are not as good some maybe better and cheaper...
YES some students DO quit taking math... for HS graduation they only need to complete a low level as in Consumer Math. That won't get you into college.
So then you have to do a year of algebra, and then geometry and algebra II and maybe trig...
Many students finish calculus in HS now or at least Pre-calculus algebra.
I found that community colleges had valuable classes with instructors who were working full time in their area of expertise. After getting a BA from MSU, I enjoyed 2 years of fun! Art, computer programming, architectural drafting, building construction, business English, woodworking!
NO time for these when you're getting your DEGREE in math!
I resent that. I went to cc because my first school NYU got to be too, and am now at Cornell (praise God) which is affordable because a) it's half the time, b) I'm in-state, and c) we get A LOT of aid, and just reformed some finaid policies. I didn't go to cc because I didn't do well in high school, and I found others who experienced the same.
Is it just me or is this guy really freakin' scary. Like he beats hits kids on the weekends and advises students during the week. He's got that twisted gym teacher look about him, know what I mean?
Although a victim of poor lighting, he does seem to be unusually evil. He really does give off the impression that he kills people for the mafia in his spare time on the weekends, after he is done beating his kids of course.
Yeah, well, former mafia hitman turned informant, turned student aid advisors gotta find woyk somewhere. Everybody loved witness relocation until one of them moves in next door...
Not a lie, people stop taking math especially after freshman year in high school... and prolong the next time they have to take it again. Either way, four-year colleges do consider the math prerequisites, let alone any prior scholar achievements in gen ed courses -- transferring from com-col then would be easier.
Don't worry about going to USC, the University of Spoiled Children.
If you didn't understand what he said, you may not be accepted at a CC.
EVERY 4-yr school requires the math, English, science, (sometimes foreign language) courses. If you haven't had these prerequisites, you won't get in.
does anyone know what school this is?
