@sirsenormrjoe you notice though that he only handled the oysters for at the longest thirty seconds at a time. But yeah I think the soup he ate at the end was fake if his allergy is as bad as he inferred.
i've eaten an oyster that had that type of bacteria in it. it was at a food buffet and it was on a dare. i got sick during my freshmen finals too. it was really bad, i thought i was gonna die cause i felt so bad. thank goodness i don't have a liver condition or apparently that could've been the case.
YEAH! It drives me INSANE! I mean, with his brain-washing, now when about half of the American population thinks chef, they think EMERIL, NOT AB! TO BAM WITH HIM!
Great vid! I learned a bunch and the only thing I can add is this: WEAR LEATHER GLOVES WHEN SHUCKING OYSTERS! ... sorry about the caps, but its a bloody mess if ya don't. Trust me it will happen. After a few beers its the last thing ya want to go to the ER over :)
Yeah I use a towel and gloves. Its awsome I love em, taste like ocean goodness. Did you know that the lobster population has risen 500% since humans destroyed cod populations along the east coast. I am very glad we destroyed that unique species because I am an optimist and a big fat pig. Semper Phi
I just noticed that tonight and came to the comments looking to see if anybody else had. He seems to eat the soup.... and he touches the oysters several times which would get a reaction if he were badly allergic to them, if it's only a little he might get away with it.
it's possible that the soup he ate was fake and had no oysters, however with cutting the oysters he may be badly contact allergic and if he is maybe he took one for the team to make some good eats!
Yeah, I wasn't sure, but I didn't see AB eat any of the raw oysters... he acted like he did, but you couldn't see him do it. If he is allergic, then I'm cool with it, otherwise, if AB won't eat 'em, I ain't gonna either! :)
Could have something to do with having the oysters under the hot lights for all the takes. You don't see anyone else eating raw oysters either (just implied eating)
Well...not so much an allergy, it's more of an intolerance which is not as fatal. However,he still can't eat them. It's not innate to, it's developed. He said he missed eating them.
Haven't seen Alton for a couple of years, this is great. After 50 hrs. of GE, I'll have to find the other two TV cooks who combine info with entertainment, Julia Childs and Graham Kerr. Bam that Emeril!
99% of the scenes involving rich guys are played by 1% of the actors. Occupy Food Network :P

The nurses name, Fanny Bay, is that a reference to Fanny Bay on Vancouver Island, BC whose major export is oysters?

Guess it might be because if the take is screwed up they'll want to keep the food for a new take.
