I read Dark Tower 7 by Stephen King and discovered severals rows named by Renzor at the beginning. Google said it is a song on it by Johnny Cash - after listening i got the answer what's the book about.

really justin beiber sucks ass dude i am sorry he's got a high squeaky voice and you think JB is better than cash brother you are super lame and mentally ill sorry had to say it...
JUSTIN BIEBER does a version of this in concert...its better than the NIN and the Cash versions. Give it a listen on JB's "Never Say Never" dvd....you'll agree.
@KINGDINGLEDORK HELL NO! I WILL ALWAYS SAY NEVER TO JUSTINA BIEBER!THIS IS JOHNNY CASH MAN!DONT COMPARE TRASH WITH GOLD! THIS IS REAL MUSIC NOT POOPPY CRAP .
@satansskidmarks but i think he really brought feelings and passion in this one. I don't knoe, i like this version better than NiN.....but thats me... ;)
@satansskidmarks Because he ruined a song for you he's a fat prick? slightly odd, but it it incomprehensible for me to see how this lacks edge and passion? by the amount of mistakes in 2 lines i'd say you came to that conclusion as a result of your lack of education. For the record; *Johnny Cash, *fucking, *all, *and, * Fat. this concludes my rant.
@TehStatics For the record, you wrote three sentences, neglecting the use of a capital letter at the start. When I write in a speedy fashion, I myself neglect letters, punctuation, and, indeed, appropriate grammar, but this is not an indication that I lack an education. This simply shows that I employ a multi-modal language, for convenience. I reiterate that this lacks edge and passion, as Trent Reznor's original classic was brooding, atmospheric, and powerful. End of Rant. You cunt.
Hello Daddy, its your daughter. I just wanted to say how much i miss you, and how much youve helped me along the way, and how much i hate myself for not having the answer (IN THAT MOMENT) to what mostly concerned you. ... Money. I wish i could tell you how much i need you right now, but im afraid. Im afraid because i cant, and if i could would it hurt you. I dont want to or wish to hurt anyone; its just a problem. Ill learn to deal with myself, somehow.
@Raffael900me everyone who does covers makes money off of it, and its well known its a cover, meaning you have to have the permission of the songwriter to do it...
decent version, but doesn't capture the eeriness and desolation of trent's original song. This is almost too happy. I'm not really a huge fan of either artist in respect to overall body of work...but the original by trent is one of the best songs I've ever heard.
@nawries1 imo, the fact that this man was very close to his death when signing this, makes this version absolutely dramatic, you can even feel the height of the years in his voice
all you people need to stop talking about crying while listening to a song. thats fine and all but keep that to your self. keep some of your self respect.
interesting fact i learned...Trent Reznor got to hear this song obviously...his words"Its his song now"...simply knowing that a musician was able to do that made this song for me personally that much more meaningfull...wich i dident think could have ever happened
no matter if you hate country or not, you still have to like this song, it just is a wake up call that family is what you got, and you need to cherish your loved ones
I hope people realize what this song means. there will never be a song that does what this song does. i mean this song was recorded, what, like 2 months before he died and its his life story so perfectly and i know he didnt right it ok but and interview nine inch nails did was talking about how it was almost like they wrote this song for J.C. and goddamn but i respect them infinitely for that
Some things in this world we will never see again, Johnny Cash is one of them. I have never seen anyone with the ability to capture such emotion and singular beauty in songs in my short life.
I regret never being able to attend one of his shows...
Cracked.com article: "Cash's cover was a testament to a lifetime of hard living and regret, from the lips of a man who's lost nearly everything he's ever loved and is now facing down death himself. No matter how real you think shit got in your 20s, your goth/industrial problems are just never going to compare to the lifelong issues of Liquor: The Cowboy. Cash had about five decades of pain on Reznor when he first performed "Hurt"; you're just not fighting in same weight class."
@shortymatt420 same.. and the part when he sais "and you could have it all, my empire of dirt, i will let you down, i will make you hurt..." RIP Johnny.
... I am an athiest yet this song is sung with such tender emotion even i am touched by this peace of art. It has such inner sadness and regret in his words and in his eyes. i am sure every one hear can relate somehow to this.
just think there is something so beautiful about the the vulnerability of a legend and he is that a legend yet you still feel that you could sit at a bar with him and share your problems, not now of course hes dead but then- fantastic talent and this song sums up all
I will do this song "my way " soon. I'm old and I don't give two shits if you don't like it.I have always loved J cash and it will be my tribute. All the very best to cash fans everywhere...!
No debate my friend, I'm a very old sometimes musician with some respect. The stones and many others made there way doing covers ,There is no shame in this.Sometimes it's a special meaning or well suited for the time. This is a perfect song to tell his story and I'm sure he would of told it the same way.
Dear Johnny- I love you like a brother. You are my hero. I saw your testimony on one of Billy Graham's crusades. I gave my heart to Jesus, and never looked back. You saved my life, and God willing, I'll be worthy of heaven to tell you myself. I'm a pastor now in The Salvation Army old friend. I am paying your gift to me forward. I used to hurt myself too. Not anymore. I am free. Gunalcheesh. (Tlingit for thank you) RIP
This Song is exactly how I feel right now !! everything in my life is going wrong and this song brings me to tears because it's exactly how i feel. I don't know what tomorrow will bring. My wife is kicking me out and I am going to have to be without my daughter everyday and start over with NOTHING !! Thank you johnny cash for this song !! what have I become ?
I began playing guitar and singing at age 10. I had just heard a Johnny Cash song on the radio. It began my music career. Thank you Johnny. Long live the king of country and western music!
You can tell that Cash is a legend when he gets me, a metal head that mainly listens to metalcore and what not, to nearly cry while listening to this song. R.I.P Johnny Cash
I have seen this video several times and really makes me think about my life and reflect. Johnny Cash knows how to write music that hits you to your core.
@BaruchCampCollege Not only that... but Johnny Cash sings with conviction... He's been through it all. Some artists today just sing about what they don't even know or what they've never felt.... but he's been through all of it. I love his music and he sings with such emotion....
@squirrlysmiles I absolutely agree , you can tell the man knows what he is singing about , pain , disappointment and hurt were all companoins of his . And this version of the song is the best by the way!
This is an absolute classic song and creates such emotion in so many people all for their own personal reasons. This is what music should do and its a shame he can't do it anymore.
how the fuck are there people disliking this video... You are simply heartless if this video and song doesn't strike you and make you feel genuine emotion
What can i say? the most moving music video i have ever seen cant believe i'm 36 and never heard this i am sitting here in tears!! what lyrics and memories think i have just found my perfect song
wow.. first time i hear this song.. really touched me.. Only know a few of Mr. Cash's songs.. Amazing.. Danish Love to all who got goosebumps like i did by listning to this.. <3
"Hey if you like this then check out our band D-Day who need your support to get ourselves out there!! we write our own original songs!! if you like us please subscribe thanks, D-Day
Reznor finished by saying that even though there was some initial weirdness in hearing the Man in Black singing his lyrics, Cash recording his song means much more to him than any industry accolades he might receive, and also having Cash say that “Hurt” reminded him of a song that he would of written during his Sixties heyday was one of the most wonderful compliments that he had ever been paid as a musician.
"Rick Rubin called me to ask how I'd feel if Johnny Cash covered 'Hurt'. I said I'd be very flattered but was given no indication it would actually be recorded. Two weeks went by. Then I got a CD in the post. I listened to it and it was very strange. It was this other person inhabiting my most personal song. It felt invasive."
Trent Reznor says that hearing Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt” for the first time felt “like someone kissing your girlfriend.” Reznor went to day that the cover, which came to symbolize much of Cash’s later recording output, started with a single phone call:
I follow all the new-age metal and that, but I still respect all the old-time artists... A lot of music wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the greats such as Johnny Cash... I never used to like him (I'd just say "Ahhhh, he's OLD!!!!") But once I got listening, I really enjoyed it...
An amazing song... The last thing he ever did... R.I.P
wow. i never really heard Jonny Cash before. Thought he was just one of those singers of old. but damn he was good, and he would have been damn good if his career started today. His music is timeless.
@squash0102 Sorry but I have to disagree with the last part. Johnny Cash was great regardless, but as long as Justin Beiber and the likes of this new-age, shit music is being released, most people will never really appreciate great musicians like this. Sad but true...
ever since i was at leats 5 and a half some where round there i listened to cash along with alice cooper but in my heart i always loved cash more then anything he put meaning into his songs he sang the first time i heard this song i understood it and it kept me from destroying myself it kept me thinking about as much as possible.Would have loved to meet the man in black may you rest in peace for ever Mr.cash
johnny cash you are one of the greatest artist of all time, and this song is amazing. thank you for making it and getting me through one of the worst times of my life.
God bless you Johnny- I know God and heaven are the richer and we the poorer for losing you. I know you are alive, and the pain, and tears are gone. Revelation says There are no more tears in heaven. I know you are with your June. RIP old friend, and thanks for saving my life. addiction was killing me.
i was ten years old when johnny cash died, i remember this coming out just before he passed away. this was the first time i remember being genuinly sad when a musician i loved died. im 18 now and about to go off to uni and what not. time goes far to quickly. rest in peace mr cash, your a legend
How in the fuck can there be 2,355 dislikes ??? .......... What has the world become ? bunch of fucking pussies & faggots ....2012 ? Maybe God has a plan to cleanse the earth of useless piles of fat shit .

His music is timeless.
squash0102 4 days ago
@squash0102 Sorry but I have to disagree with the last part. Johnny Cash was great regardless, but as long as Justin Beiber and the likes of this new-age, shit music is being released, most people will never really appreciate great musicians like this. Sad but true...

God bless you Johnny- I know God and heaven are the richer and we the poorer for losing you. I know you are alive, and the pain, and tears are gone. Revelation says There are no more tears in heaven. I know you are with your June. RIP old friend, and thanks for saving my life. addiction was killing me.
