  • Johnny Cash is a king

  • Everyone I know, goes away.

  • This is the most powerful song i have ever heard in any music genre.

  • Me encanta, simplemente ecepcional

  • jeb corliss sent me

  • Just flag all of Draghoon's comments, the little bastard obviously won't stop, and he thinks he's tough shit talking smack behind a computer screen.

  • This song gets me everytime.

  • The song started as a metal/grunge song (see Soundgarden) and Johnny had the vision to see that it would cross genres and speak to his crowd. That's a true artist!

  • @CoreyKoehlerMusic Soundgarden? Nine Inch Nails.

  • @TheCasualMadness DUH! I thought I was on the rusty Cage video. Multitasking is not good. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • @CoreyKoehlerMusic No problem :D Im happy that you didn't freak out because I corrected you. I hate youtubers who do that.

  • sometimes i cant stop myself from crying when i hear this, this song reminds me of my grandfather. R.I.P grandfather, R.I.P Johnny Cash

    :''(

  • if the dead came back to life, he'd be the only zombie i wouldnt even harm.

  • So ridiculously powerful. Is he going to heaven...he didn't think so...the sadness that is a no-exit existence.

  • thank you mr. cash for everything, im a being of light whom saw you not long before your passing on, i wont touch her mr.cash, i heard ya, and your welcome for being our each others witness and thank you for the warnings mr. cash, we found a way

  • Rarely ever comes along a song that comes from a troubled soul comming to peace with the inevitability of the end, in such a way you can feel a second meaning just by the way its song.

And only in the story of John cash, could this happen, such an amazing song, and there be a related video called "breast flexing".

    Only Johnny.

  • F#(@)@)@) depression

  • I....umm.....wow.....

  • hodogetsmoney is a swerve.

  • johny a ledg...................

  • ye they all bum bashin bastards

  • Johnny Cash was a Legend. He was 71 years old and suffering from multiple health problems and facing with his own mortality when he recorded this song. His emotion and quiet realization in his voice shows through in a magnificent reinterpretation of the song. You can feel his realization that his time is near. The line change to "I wear this crown of thorns" is haunting and prophetic. He died 7 months later. If you, as a mortal human being, cant understand its significance...you never will.

  • @hrlydavison Fucking true

  • @hrlydavison yeah it seems as if he knew his time was up also the feast in the table represents as his last meal

  • @hrlydavison here here!! :)

  • @hrlydavison Never will? Is the "crown of thorns" symbol really so abstract that someone who doesn't currently understand it lacks the capacity to do so? I know you're trying to be all poetic and everything; I really get that, but you're also being fake! All we gotta do is sing a little, dance a little, and everything will become perfectly clear!

  • @rore5455 I dont mean understanding the significance of the line change. I mean understanding the significance of the song and video images together as a complete work, and there is nothing fake about my comment.

  • @hrlydavison one time legend always legend My friend

  • Chuck Norris holds the door for Johnny Cash

  • @hodogetsmoney They are both FAGGOTS!!!!!

  • @Drahgoon You really must be some shitfaced little nigger 8 year old who thinks he's clever.

Take a fuckin bath, I can smell your nigger ass through my screen.

  • @gorillazhead You most be some pooface little homo 8 anf a half year old who thinks he's un-stupid.

Take a fuckin bath, I can smel your candy ass throught my screen.

  • @Drahgoon Both of you, shut the hell up! Either watch and like or don't like and don't watch, spam all over with your retarded comments. Really, your going to call each other niggers, faggots, really? You do realize there are probably black people and gays on you tube right now watching this. Ya'll look like a couple of dumbasses...

  • @MrJpryor74 Its ik too insult gays and niggers. They are inferior in every posible way.Johnny cash would proabably agree

  • @Drahgoon Fuck off, you are a little prick

  • @MrJpryor74 If by prick you mean super duper totally awesome and hip dude. Then yes you are right.

  • @Drahgoon He is dead pay respect, I don't disrespect dead people who I didn't like... This is a damn song that meant something to him, now piss off you jerk off peice of shit, you're trash, you're an ass clown, and you know what? FUCK YOU + 30,000,000 people!

  • @MrJpryor74 wow so are you saying you don't disrespect hitler? wow you've really shown your true colours you nazi.

  • @Drahgoon @Drahgoon Let us not fight let us pay our memorial respects to the man who is Cash or I will kick both yo cracks, yo mama's will call me Big Daddy

  • @foxstar612 cASH IS not a real musician he had the cover someone elses song. LOL what a joke.

  • @Drahgoon You know it takes a big man to insult a dead man. Also you do realize you are a self righteous prick right? WHen June was dying she told the record company to keep Johnny busy soo he could handle it. He covered this song to reflect over his life.

  • @jayyyyjude Your jsut mad because deep down inside you KNOW that i am right.

  • @Drahgoon Right about what? Everything you have said here is completely ignorant and homophobic and makes me want to beat the living shit outa you. People like you, backwoods redneck white trash people, who are afraid of gays and black people. Why dont you go back in your trailer beat your wife, then fuck your sister sooo we can have some peace?

  • @Drahgoon Think of all the cool songs of his own he has made dipshit

  • @Death1337666 All of those songs are proabably about being a closet queer-o-sexual.

  • @Drahgoon you are a pathetic human being. What have you become a monster.

  • to all those opposed....you realize, that the only possible way for johnny to even release this song on album, would be to have trent, or his management give the authority to use it....duh. johnny cash was far more talented than copying lyrics,to make money!. He did the song right after his wife died....rest her soul...as a tribute to her, because it meant something to him emotionally!. bottom llne dont listen if you dont like.

  • Why on Earth is MmmBop anywhere near this song?

  • Absolutely a beautiful song by nine inch nails, but must agree johnnny did a wunderful version of it and i think even trent would be proud what a song to end a great careerR.I.P. JOHNNNY

  • Johnny cash a lifetime of knowledge and his words effect peoples souls, I don't think its about hate I think it's about disappointment in the way they left the world for the newer generation. but that's just me.

  • @Drahgoon If you don't like the song then why are you still here listening / spamming? Not all music with emotion is "emo". Some people use music to comunicate a message thats important to them. You don't have to like it but give them the respect they deserve for getting up there and putting themselves out there. Seriously... have YOU made anything? Until you do don't be a hater.

  • @kittikats I am here because i want to informe and educate people on the reality of how gay this song is. I hate doing this to people but people need to learn the truth and somethimes the truth hurts.

  • @Drahgoon

    obvious troll is obvious.

  • @miztahfrawg I am not quite sure what you mean by "troll".

  • I feel with JC's presentation and method he wanted to convery his feelings about looking back on his career, as many songs in American IV did. He knew the end was near and lots of what he wanted to say had been said by many others. Which was my interpretation of his album. I think he connected with this song especially and wanted to make a video expressing his connection. Then again it could have just been a catchy song he liked.

  • It never gets old. It still tugs at the heartstrings the way it did the first time I heard it.

  • perfect

  • The man is an absolute legend.

  • why are we arguing over which one was better when there's a video called "breast flexing" in the related videos?

  • @richardthewriter i disagree. Never do tomorrow what you could do today, you never know when your gonna go.

  • he knew. he knew he was dying. We know when we are going and we also choose that moment to leave this world. Johnny knew and he was just saying goodbye.

  • lol he's just trolling you guys and ur feeding em. Nice song johnny

  • @lakersredsox24 Well then, troll just run around the internet sucking dick, now don't they.

I don't care for country music, but Johnny Cash is THE MAN.

  • True story: Long time NIN fan, not country fan at all. Heard this cover used on a TV cop show. Mind BLOWN. Got the album. Still not a big country fan, but can't deny he's obviously ridiculously talented and awesome. It's amazing how he stayed completely true to the song, but also completely owned it. The pain I feel in his voice. It gets me every time.

  • This song gives me goosebumps every time and I start to cry. We love you Johnny

  • Johnny Cash was a great man. May your legend live forever!!!

  • GREAT SONG MADE EVEN GREATER

  • Trent said he wrote this song but Johnny tool it over and made it his. Class.

  • he die :(

  • i lowe it wow :)

  • Whenever someone says country music sucks... I show them this song.

  • fucking hell im welling up here absulote emtion in this song

  • GOD

  • love the camera/background work.

  • Very beautiful if sad song from one of the best artists in the world..RIP JC

  • The power and emotion behind this video is nothing less than epic. Anyone who loves Johnny Cash and music should be able to feel and see it.

  • Johnny saw the genius in the Nin song, trent i am sure would be honoured by this version, Johnny took this song to the next level

  • This song just proves the power of music in general and power of words in particular! Powerful lyrics, my friends!

  • @Drahgoon You lost all respect for Cash because he covered a song a few months before his death? These were the emotions of a dying man and you're too absorbed in the visceral to appreciate it.

  • @Thatguywithlogic Not only did he sing an emo song. He did'nt even write it himself. This man is a disgrace

  • @Drahgoon I really hope your kidding, because Johnny's the most respected and revered country musician of all time.

  • @gorillazhead johnny cash is a fake musician that was brought up by a record company.

  • @Drahgoon Okay, your right, everything you say is the truth.

  • @gorillazhead Yeah YOU BUTTER BE SCARED.

  • @Drahgoon Oh, but I am, so scared.

  • Wow .......

  • I feel this song in the marrow of my bones. This is me.

  • i like the cover better, i do like NIN but this one is better imo and to any one whos stuck a hole in there arm and pulled back this is a deep song

  • deep. Nice song

  • @Drahgoon It was a cover of a NIN song, asshole. Just because it conveys emotion, don't fucking bash it, you little shit.

  • @mahaLoLolo1 The kind of emotions this song "coneys" are gay emotion.

  • @Drahgoon No, I think singing about "gay" emotions would be the kind conveyed in pop music. Because it truly conveys emotional pain and not just bullshit like all the pop that's on the radio today, it raises itself to music and poetry. You, as an ignorant fuck, cannot comprehend the kind of emotion that it conveys. Which is fine- lots of people have that deficiency. The same kind of people who date & marry stupid, shallow women, because they're the only girls who can stand someone like that.

  • @mahaLoLolo1 Wow you just wrote that entire paragraph just to proove how gay you are. You should of just wrote " i am gay" that would of been waaaaaaaaaaaaay easier.

  • @Drahgoon You can't think of anything else to say but "gay," can you? Are you a homophobe or something? No, that's a dumb question. You're just stupid.

  • @mahaLoLolo1 I can say FAGGOT. Would that be butter?

  • @Drahgoon No, I think it would be better if you just shut the fuck up. Trolling is pretty much the most annoying thing I can think of anyone doing. The funniest part is that you actually think I'm pissed off at you.

  • @mahaLoLolo1 I am not quite sure what you mean by "trolling".

  • @Drahgoon Seriously, SUCK A FUCKING DICK. I can genuinely imagine Cash rising from the dead and silting your throat, fat sack of shit.

Oh, and your talking about gay shit, wtf is that "Crimewave," bullshit you have Favorited on your channel? Trance and rave have to be the most butthurt homotastic music on the planet.

  • @gorillazhead dude if Johnny ever read what you guys are arguing about He would be ashamed of what the human race has become

  • @zhaster very well put brother

  • @zhaster Dont be such a nigger faggot

  • @Drahgoon Your pathetic

  • @WazzaJordi If by patheric you mean . Super duper awesomely awesome mega super radicle totally cool and hip. Then yes you are right.

  • @WazzaJordi I'd just like to take this moment to thank people like you for making it so easy for me to get into college.

  • @Drahgoon What are you, twelve?

  • @HeelofTim 21 AND A HALF!!!!!!!!

  • @Drahgoon You should die, but learn how to spell first.

  • @Maggot4life771 Yous hould learn how not to be a foggot

  • I miss you Johnny :(

  • It's like the song of his life

  • Even Trent Reznor admitted that this version is better than his.

  • I like Johnny Cash was never a BIG fan. Heard this last night for the first time. Now know it was a N.I.N song. But this is ia brilliant version. Totally agree with NickHarford. Even picked up the chords to play it myself. Thankyou N.I.N and thankyou Johnny Cash for letting us feel this.

  • This song makes you think. I like it.

  • In an entertainment world where wealth, popularity, and looks seem to outvalue talent and creativity, things like this remind us of the small amount of time we have here, and what we choose to do with it. This video and song just seem to cut through all the hype generated by the music industry in one simple stroke. It's the most moving video I've seen.. Everyone should see this once.

  • @NickHarford

    Amen to that!

  • So moving. Just perfect.

  • This song sums up Cash in every way possible. I'm not a huge fan of Cash, but this song is making me change my mind. RIP Johnny and June

  • how can you not enjoy this song it touches so many places if you dont get goosebumps from this song you do not know good music

  • i woulda loved the opportunity to see this man in concert my friends ask me why i listen to johnny cash i just tell them hes legend enough said he is hte god of music

  • "Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps... Wow. [...] I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure." ~ Trent Reznor on Cash's version

  • RIP Mr Cash !!!!

  • When people hear this on the radio they don`t say turn tdat shit up they say turn that life changing music up

  • makes me wanna cry

  • 2366 people dont understand the meaning of living or have never lived.. because on listen of this song makes you alive...!

  • HE DIDN'T WRITE THIS! BABIES ARE NOT PEOPLE! VOTE OBAMA 2012! APOCALYPSE NOW! PEE IN YOUR EYE! NINE INCH NAILS! NINE INCH NAILS!

  • @asilentfire what the fuck

  • @asilentfire No one is saying he wrote this. i also don't think people care about your political beliefs on a video of this magnitude. Please take your ignorance somewhere else. And I think you might need some help find/locating your caps lock button. This isn't the time nor the place for the Royal Canterlot Voice...

  • @asilentfire your a dumb ass trent reznor wrote it

  • @asilentfire You're a bit of an odd chap aren't you?

  • @asilentfire Please kill yourself; the world is overpopulated.

  • fair play if you look him up on wiki he's had a life. trust me i heard this song a few times but thought nothing properly of it but when i looked up on him, i see why

  • As a way to say “thank you Johnny” and to spread the love and passion for a legend of a soul, I thought I’d elaborate on two important ideas that seem to reoccur in our comments:

The fact that Johnny Cash did a cover song of Trent Reznor’s masterpiece shows that Johnny recognized and was willing to give credit to worth-wild music of today’s generation.

  • @crawlFace

I can’t stand it when an artist from an older generation makes a blanket statement such as “All today’s music sucks”, especially when there must have been a time when the very same thing was said about their music and change and new or different styles, etc.

In this video, you can basically see/feel everything you need to see and feel from Johnny Cash the man; that’s what makes the video so touching: it’s 1000% real,

  • @crawlFace

and I figure at that point in his life there would be no kind of pressure or threat that could force him to perform/produce something he didn’t agree with and that he didn’t want to do. So to me, Johnny is letting his fans know that he is on-point and well aware of what’s happening and being produced in “today’s generation” of artists.

  • @crawlFace

As an additional bravo to Johnny, I believe that if he wanted too he could have went to the drawing-board and came up with a haunting basic melody of his own on guitar along with lyrics that would rip our hearts out, but to be so mature as to recognize and endorse another fellow artist’s work because everything that Johnny may have wanted to convey was pretty much perfectly conveyed by Trent, is a testament to how humble and sincere the man is.

  • @crawlFace

The other idea I want to touch on is based on a comment I read here which was a fair reminder: the comment pointed-out that this vid reminds us of the hardships of old-age, and that by looking at Johnny, in spite of his achievements and triumphs, we see a tortured old man, etc. But in the spirit of wisdom and believing that Johnny was as sharp and wise as they come, I know he wouldn’t want us to think of him that way.

  • @crawlFace

What I take from Johnny’s pain and his “looking back on things now” approach the video expresses, is the most beautiful final lesson and reminder to all of us, which is that when we do reach those last days of our lives we will look back on many of those younger years and realize how precious they are. What Johnny would want us to do right now is to make the most of our time now, sincerely.

  • @crawlFace

And in his humble way, that would be us just going over to the one we love, our family, someone we care about and expressing our love and just taking a moment to enjoy being alive, knowing that times like this we will remember forever.

Johnny helped teach me that you pick yourself up and start over as many times as it takes.

Johnny Cash, no excuses, no hype, we learn by living, pure legend-

  • @crawlFace

    worth wild?...while?

  • @Hitler1961

    Thnx; appreciated.

    :)

  • I never got in to Johnny Cash but this almost seems he wrote it himself, so much feeling. Great cover

  • Comment removed

  • damn wish i could have met him or at least seen him in concert!

  • cant watch this without getting a shiver up my spine and almost shedding a tear

  • Somehow, calling this a "music video" doesn't really do it justice. Leave it to Johnny Cash to do a remain entirely original while doing a cover.

  • @bigdschreiner "everyone i know, goes away in the end"

"Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack"

  • Those dislikes...all from Lil Wayne!
