  • @Loustaaa i don't care about your skyrim don't use that name around a legends music video.

  • fantastic ! very inspiring ....

  • masterpiece

  • que buen cover :3

  • Ogni volta che l' ascolto mi commuove ...è più forte di me.

Un inno alla vita , con tutte le sue imperfezioni ...nonostante tutto ,mette voglia di vivere.

    <3

  • Cash don't try to hate on him

  • if anybody else tried to sing this they would just be called little emos. But cash imparts a feeling to the song that really gets to you.

  • I love this man!!!!!!He was such a truly pure soul.I cry everytime I hear this.Him, Waylon, and Willie were the original cowboys....

  • I read Dark Tower 7 by Stephen King and discovered severals rows named by Renzor at the beginning. Google said it is a song on it by Johnny Cash - after listening i got the answer what's the book about.

Great artist, great lyric, great song.

  • he told us goodbye, not goodbye now please tell reznor mine is better than yours, just his own way of saying goodbye, so please just listen, not many artists live long enough to say it, so just listen

  • I'm sorry to all the NIN fans out there, but Johnny's version of Hurt is so much more soulful and heartfelt than Trent's! I'm actually crying!

  • bieber sucks donky kong.

  • Im not trying to be mean but justin beiber is a fag. thumbs up if you agree

  • @floyderven why even mention it? no one on here cares

  • Im not trying to be mean but justin beiber is a fag

  • Im not trying to be mean but justin beiber is a fag.

  • johnny you rock man may you rest in piece

  • really justin beiber sucks ass dude i am sorry he's got a high squeaky voice and you think JB is better than cash brother you are super lame and mentally ill sorry had to say it...

    aghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Drinkmysoul7 if you were going to correctly disrepect a deceased national treasure it should be hes a has gone, have an awful day :)

  • It so sad, we can see his pain even in picture/video and voice! I understand you my friend for i lost a lot too

  • JUSTIN BIEBER does a version of this in concert...its better than the NIN and the Cash versions. Give it a listen on JB's "Never Say Never" dvd....you'll agree.

  • @KINGDINGLEDORK Please say this is a joke. Bieber is not even in the same league as NIN or Johnny Cash, and never will be.

  • @KINGDINGLEDORK HELL NO! I WILL ALWAYS SAY NEVER TO JUSTINA BIEBER!THIS IS JOHNNY CASH MAN!DONT COMPARE TRASH WITH GOLD! THIS IS REAL MUSIC NOT POOPPY CRAP .

  • When i watch this,i feel Johnny sitting next to me. Such a powerful song.

  • johny cash fuckin ruined this 4 me, he got rid of ALL the edge nd passion! fat prick!

  • @satansskidmarks but i think he really brought feelings and passion in this one. I don't knoe, i like this version better than NiN.....but thats me... ;)

  • @MrSitar18 *know :D

  • @satansskidmarks yeah really wow your a fag

  • @satansskidmarks Did you really just call a dead man a fat prick? Wow. You're going to hell. (:

  • @satansskidmarks Because he ruined a song for you he's a fat prick? slightly odd, but it it incomprehensible for me to see how this lacks edge and passion? by the amount of mistakes in 2 lines i'd say you came to that conclusion as a result of your lack of education. For the record; *Johnny Cash, *fucking, *all, *and, * Fat. this concludes my rant.

  • @TehStatics For the record, you wrote three sentences, neglecting the use of a capital letter at the start. When I write in a speedy fashion, I myself neglect letters, punctuation, and, indeed, appropriate grammar, but this is not an indication that I lack an education. This simply shows that I employ a multi-modal language, for convenience. I reiterate that this lacks edge and passion, as Trent Reznor's original classic was brooding, atmospheric, and powerful. End of Rant. You cunt.

  • @Raffael900me even though Trent Reznor said even he thinks this version is better?

  • is it weird that I based my character on skyrim on Johnny cash

  • @Loustaaa Slightly...But I think it's awesome. xD

  • @Loustaaa i love video games but to me thats an insult to a legend, well not really...go make Axle Rose thats more like it.

  • @Loustaaa

No way, that sounds pretty bad ass in its own way.

I could imagine this song for a character in skyrim.

  • @Loustaaa

This song could plants the seed of a thousand heroes in a thousand worlds. It's basically uni(multi)versal.

And still the plenum is not exhausted.

  • لايك

  • I'll find the answer, somehow, and when i do, you'll be so proud.

    I promise you.

  • Hello Daddy, its your daughter. I just wanted to say how much i miss you, and how much youve helped me along the way, and how much i hate myself for not having the answer (IN THAT MOMENT) to what mostly concerned you. ... Money. I wish i could tell you how much i need you right now, but im afraid. Im afraid because i cant, and if i could would it hurt you. I dont want to or wish to hurt anyone; its just a problem. Ill learn to deal with myself, somehow.
  • so he basically ripped them off and made money off a cover

  • @Raffael900me everyone who does covers makes money off of it, and its well known its a cover, meaning you have to have the permission of the songwriter to do it...

  • And the man in black walks away.

  • ...words cant express the songs' sadness...

  • decent version, but doesn't capture the eeriness and desolation of trent's original song. This is almost too happy. I'm not really a huge fan of either artist in respect to overall body of work...but the original by trent is one of the best songs I've ever heard.

  • @nawries1 imo, the fact that this man was very close to his death when signing this, makes this version absolutely dramatic, you can even feel the height of the years in his voice

  • god damn. what a song

  • jesus its so sad so emotional my god...

  • all you people need to stop talking about crying while listening to a song. thats fine and all but keep that to your self. keep some of your self respect.

  • @pepsisteal54 word

  • interesting fact i learned...Trent Reznor got to hear this song obviously...his words"Its his song now"...simply knowing that a musician was able to do that made this song for me personally that much more meaningfull...wich i dident think could have ever happened

  • I have a lot of respect for this great man. This song gets to you,it makes you think.

  • what an awsome legend

  • i love this man

  • 2,358 people are heartless bastards.

R.I.P. Cash, you will be missed.

  • This song makes me cry ='3

  • this song....it it hits me hard

  • RIP. Johnny Cash you will be missed

  • no matter if you hate country or not, you still have to like this song, it just is a wake up call that family is what you got, and you need to cherish your loved ones

  • thumbs up if you know this song means a lot

  • I hope people realize what this song means. there will never be a song that does what this song does. i mean this song was recorded, what, like 2 months before he died and its his life story so perfectly and i know he didnt right it ok but and interview nine inch nails did was talking about how it was almost like they wrote this song for J.C. and goddamn but i respect them infinitely for that

    R.I.P. Johnny

  • why was i born so late. i never got a chance to listen to this legend

  • @smackarel7 How old are you? Like ten?

  • Some things in this world we will never see again, Johnny Cash is one of them. I have never seen anyone with the ability to capture such emotion and singular beauty in songs in my short life.

I regret never being able to attend one of his shows...

  • Thank you for your description of the video, I completely agree. Amazing song with great respect to both artists.

  • Cracked.com article: "Cash's cover was a testament to a lifetime of hard living and regret, from the lips of a man who's lost nearly everything he's ever loved and is now facing down death himself. No matter how real you think shit got in your 20s, your goth/industrial problems are just never going to compare to the lifelong issues of Liquor: The Cowboy. Cash had about five decades of pain on Reznor when he first performed "Hurt"; you're just not fighting in same weight class."

  • CZLOWIEK LEGENDA ...

  • "Everyone I know, Goes away in the end"

    That always hits me hard.

  • @shortymatt420 same.. and the part when he sais "and you could have it all, my empire of dirt, i will let you down, i will make you hurt..." RIP Johnny.

  • @shortymatt420 That is deep!!!

  • @shortymatt420 song made me fucking cry dude, it was the last thing i expected to do when i hit play. FUCKING LEGEND he made a grown man cry,

  • 2358 dislikes, what?, eh? who dislikes johnny cash? hes a treasure, a timeless legend, shocking. Some videos should have the dislike button disabled.

  • ... I am an athiest yet this song is sung with such tender emotion even i am touched by this peace of art. It has such inner sadness and regret in his words and in his eyes. i am sure every one hear can relate somehow to this.

  • One of the best covers I've ever heard.

  • Such A Great Song

  • nin COVER, but BEST COVER OF COVERS EVER!

  • 2358 ppl dont know music!

  • just think there is something so beautiful about the the vulnerability of a legend and he is that a legend yet you still feel that you could sit at a bar with him and share your problems, not now of course hes dead but then- fantastic talent and this song sums up all

  • I will do this song "my way " soon. I'm old and I don't give two shits if you don't like it.I have always loved J cash and it will be my tribute. All the very best to cash fans everywhere...!

  • @SirLarralot Just based on that description I love it already lol

  • replace xx with tt

  • larrymuesse.webs.com/apps/videos/videos/show/15346967-john-lennon-tribute

  • No debate my friend, I'm a very old sometimes musician with some respect. The stones and many others made there way doing covers ,There is no shame in this.Sometimes it's a special meaning or well suited for the time. This is a perfect song to tell his story and I'm sure he would of told it the same way.

  • Both versions are good. Let's all let this one debate go. Puh-leez!

  • Cash would only cover a good song. He understood the raw emotion that is Mr. Reznor's work.

  • Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails original IS brilliant in its own write

But Johnny Cash owns this , His beautiful voice with a great film clip ,

made a grown man cry ,......love it

  • Raw emotion nuff said

  • im glad he didnt end it the way NIN did lol

  • 38 milloion views and still counting.

  • He did this last song to tell his story.

  • Ya ,it's a "Cover" "Nine inch Nails" song...But, why do you think he did it...?

  • If this don't make you cry,....your not human...

  • J. Cash has a lot of great songs. But, In my humble opinion this is the best.....!!! RIP my old friend...

  • I can't believe Johnny Cash killed Kurt Cobain

  • Goosebump-apalooza over here

  • Depois dessa versao o NIN ate parece um guri que a pouco aprendeu a cantar!!!

  • Dear Johnny- I love you like a brother. You are my hero. I saw your testimony on one of Billy Graham's crusades. I gave my heart to Jesus, and never looked back. You saved my life, and God willing, I'll be worthy of heaven to tell you myself. I'm a pastor now in The Salvation Army old friend. I am paying your gift to me forward. I used to hurt myself too. Not anymore. I am free. Gunalcheesh. (Tlingit for thank you) RIP

  • What happened to the "Music" these days?

  • Amazing Cover!! RIP my friend!

  • RIP best in the world

  • If this doesnt bring a tear to your eye I dont know what would

  • WOW.....

  • NIN

  • you still live johnny

  • ...you stay away from me 'you hear'....

That instant i knew he was from Tennessee.

  • ^ You should all check out that "Seth Rinehart" modern cover of "Hurt" in the video response (or my page) Just sayin... :) Hopefully you like it!

  • This Song is exactly how I feel right now !! everything in my life is going wrong and this song brings me to tears because it's exactly how i feel. I don't know what tomorrow will bring. My wife is kicking me out and I am going to have to be without my daughter everyday and start over with NOTHING !! Thank you johnny cash for this song !! what have I become ?

  • @grouched wow, that sucks so fucking much

  • @grouched - Condoms are cheap, dude.

  • R.I.P

  • nine inch nails did not fucking write this song. i refuse to believe it.

  • @Sethypwnsall he did. its his song. and both versions are great

  • I began playing guitar and singing at age 10. I had just heard a Johnny Cash song on the radio. It began my music career. Thank you Johnny. Long live the king of country and western music!

  • probably the only the song that can make a grown man cry!

  • You can tell that Cash is a legend when he gets me, a metal head that mainly listens to metalcore and what not, to nearly cry while listening to this song. R.I.P Johnny Cash

  • @clacman2000 im the same why dude i listen to mostly metal but could never turn to johnny cash

  • EVERY HUMAN MUST WATCH THiS ViDEO AT LEAST ONCE iN THEiR LiFETiME ...(and some animals)

  • Lovely and eternal.

  • I wanted to one day hug him and say how big a fan my dad was of his. i feel bad that i wont ever get to.

  • how can someone dislike a song like that...

  • I have seen this video several times and really makes me think about my life and reflect. Johnny Cash knows how to write music that hits you to your core.

  • @BaruchCampCollege this is a cover, like most of his hits are. This is a cover of Nine Inch nails Hurt

  • @BaruchCampCollege Not only that... but Johnny Cash sings with conviction... He's been through it all. Some artists today just sing about what they don't even know or what they've never felt.... but he's been through all of it. I love his music and he sings with such emotion....

  • @squirrlysmiles I absolutely agree , you can tell the man knows what he is singing about , pain , disappointment and hurt were all companoins of his . And this version of the song is the best by the way!

  • Damn this song is so amazing.. left me speachless..

  • This is an absolute classic song and creates such emotion in so many people all for their own personal reasons. This is what music should do and its a shame he can't do it anymore.

  • how the fuck are there people disliking this video... You are simply heartless if this video and song doesn't strike you and make you feel genuine emotion

  • What can i say? the most moving music video i have ever seen cant believe i'm 36 and never heard this i am sitting here in tears!! what lyrics and memories think i have just found my perfect song

  • @kask0411 It's a cover. Nine Inch Nails

  • timeless music

  • wow.. first time i hear this song.. really touched me.. Only know a few of Mr. Cash's songs.. Amazing.. Danish Love to all who got goosebumps like i did by listning to this.. <3

  • @Kemou128 I do every time i listen.

  • 2356 dislikes maybe one day you'll understand but it mite be too late

  • !!!!!

  • I just noticed that this video was uploaded 2005 dang

    for cash

  • goosebumps never felt so good...

  • Reznor finished by saying that even though there was some initial weirdness in hearing the Man in Black singing his lyrics, Cash recording his song means much more to him than any industry accolades he might receive, and also having Cash say that “Hurt” reminded him of a song that he would of written during his Sixties heyday was one of the most wonderful compliments that he had ever been paid as a musician.

  • "Rick Rubin called me to ask how I'd feel if Johnny Cash covered 'Hurt'. I said I'd be very flattered but was given no indication it would actually be recorded. Two weeks went by. Then I got a CD in the post. I listened to it and it was very strange. It was this other person inhabiting my most personal song. It felt invasive."

  • Trent Reznor says that hearing Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt” for the first time felt “like someone kissing your girlfriend.” Reznor went to day that the cover, which came to symbolize much of Cash’s later recording output, started with a single phone call:

  • johnny cash is and was too far a head of his time he is the original "rock" star amazing life story and god bless june her love got him thru

  • I follow all the new-age metal and that, but I still respect all the old-time artists... A lot of music wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the greats such as Johnny Cash... I never used to like him (I'd just say "Ahhhh, he's OLD!!!!") But once I got listening, I really enjoyed it...

An amazing song... The last thing he ever did... R.I.P

  • broken man .. sad

  • wow. i never really heard Jonny Cash before. Thought he was just one of those singers of old. but damn he was good, and he would have been damn good if his career started today. His music is timeless.

  • @squash0102 Sorry but I have to disagree with the last part. Johnny Cash was great regardless, but as long as Justin Beiber and the likes of this new-age, shit music is being released, most people will never really appreciate great musicians like this. Sad but true...

  • If nothing else, Johny proves that the song is more important than who sing's it

  • ever since i was at leats 5 and a half some where round there i listened to cash along with alice cooper but in my heart i always loved cash more then anything he put meaning into his songs he sang the first time i heard this song i understood it and it kept me from destroying myself it kept me thinking about as much as possible.Would have loved to meet the man in black may you rest in peace for ever Mr.cash

  • R.I.P. Johnny Cash you are still the man!!!!

  • No a main steam country fan but there is no way I can't love this song.....To much real feeling and raw emotion in this not to love it.

  • people thumbs this down? Mindfuck.

  • Me cuesta creer que sea un cover de nine inch nails..esta es la canción mas triste jamas escrita....

  • johnny cash you are one of the greatest artist of all time, and this song is amazing. thank you for making it and getting me through one of the worst times of my life.

  • God bless you Johnny- I know God and heaven are the richer and we the poorer for losing you. I know you are alive, and the pain, and tears are gone. Revelation says There are no more tears in heaven. I know you are with your June. RIP old friend, and thanks for saving my life. addiction was killing me.

  • @Saqua2289 Amen,

  • One of the only songs ever with the ability to make me cry every time... I'm a huge NIN fan, but Johnny definitely made this song his own.

  • i was ten years old when johnny cash died, i remember this coming out just before he passed away. this was the first time i remember being genuinly sad when a musician i loved died. im 18 now and about to go off to uni and what not. time goes far to quickly. rest in peace mr cash, your a legend

  • @keiththeaxeman1 BOOHOO.

  • @keiththeaxeman1 - Starting your first semester a little late, aren't you? Most uni's are in three/four weeks into the semester already.

  • The end is just to beauty. It shows the end of life somwhow, and that gentlemens,it is something quite sensible..

I bet there are lots of eyes that get wet for this song, and that,I resepect. :)

  • im 12 and what is this

  • @Mika151 It's Called GOOD MUSIC.

  • Geniusz:) niesamowity kawałek aż serce rośnie:)

  • probably the most powerful music video of all time

  • "If I could start again

    A million miles away

    I would keep myself

    I would find a way"

  • I regret never seeing this legend in concert! Most country music is terrible and I only really discovered how unique Cash was in his last year

  • How in the fuck can there be 2,355 dislikes ??? .......... What has the world become ? bunch of fucking pussies & faggots ....2012 ? Maybe God has a plan to cleanse the earth of useless piles of fat shit .
