Hopefully there will be more apps like Midomi and Soundhound, where you can hum or sing the song, and it will identify the artist who recorded it. Also, Midomi and Soundhound are not totally accurate, OR their database doesn't have a huge volume of idenitified songs. I keep hearing a song at my job, and it's a country music song. It sounds A LOT like The Dixie Chicks, but when i hummed the song into Soundhound, it would not identify it. I will try Midomi and see what happens.

I tested this just now with midomi with the exact same numbers... this time midomi was much faster than shazam and was correct all this times...

I don't have two Iphones so I can't test it side by side other wise I would have made my own video for you guys with some more songs, also less familiar songs to see which has the better database

This is the older version of Midomi, the new version works great and has a lot more "grab' features, like humming, singing, and typing the lyrics of your favorite songs.

I got midomi ultra which was 5$. I would have gotten Shazam, but my iPod doesn't have the 3.0 update yet Shazam requires.

midomi ultra works great. And judging by how Shazam worked in this video, midomi ultra is much better.

This is a stale video. Midomi 2.1 is three times faster than Shazam and finds more music. Did a Grateful Dead Test and Shazam only got studio albums and almost nothing live. Midomi got most everything.

Shazam is so much better. It have never failed to identify a song, but modomi falls all the time and alot of the time suggests like 10 songs that it could be and you have to figure out what one it is.

I've tried both and I agree, Shazam is the better app. Midomi tries hard but just doesn't cut it. And to luiscabalerohernaez -- sorry, he's not a liar, I saw "Our servers are busy" most of the time using Midomi and missed many a song on the radio due to it. Shazam can even pick up a song in a loud store when its being played over the loudspeakers. I could barely hear the song in Barnes and Noble and Shazam picked it up.

I agree with kistajik about it being an unfair test. I realize that the video is a couple months old and that updates for the apps have gone around since then, but still. You wouldn't test the 1st generation iPhone vs the iPhone 3G at launch (which had major network problems and had people holding their 3Gs without service).

i just tried using my midomi while u were testing it and i got the right results faster than shazam on ur video.. maybe it's the old version of midomi.. the current midomi only needs 10 seconds then it will search automatically

Midomi works better for me, and I never get 'server busy'. It's so unfair to give score to Shazam while Midomi's server is busy. The score can easily be 3-1 for Midomi if Shazam's server is busy too.
