i think that is bar life. I HAVE BEEN THERE DRINKING BROWN BOOZE. BUT I FEEL SORRY FOR WHORES BECAUSE THEY ARE RUNNING AWAY FROM SOMETHING MUCH WORSE THAN WHAT I AM RUNNING AWAY FROM. MUCH DARKER AND MORE PAINFULL. I AM AFRAID OF THEM. HORSERACING IS BORING AND CIGARS SMELL.
thanks for uploadin the poem. but seriously, everybody, you know how hard buk would be laughin' and or just oblivious and uninterested in people who type fight on the internet. i hate that every fucking video i watch has people trying to out "cool" each other under it. everyone should just disable fucking comments.
@harshestnoise Isn't there some kind of beauty in watching people engage in these firvilious arguments that testifies to the worth and life understanding of the population?
take my money leave my poems is a beautiful sentiment. for anyone who has slaved over his art. for whom it is the sweet ash of his life nows that theese have value. more value than the money in your pocket. I suggest you actualy read and listen to something before dismiss it by prejudice on the basis of its context.
I'm glad I finally realized that when someone tries to say something clever like, "The grass goes insane" it means absolutely nothing. It has absolutely no value. How can it? Other than some twisted, sad attempt to be a poet or a genius, it doesn't. I hope people can see that this poet/poem is trash. It makes trash seem grand or spectacular. 75% of so called art is trash and for trash. This is why the world is trash. It puts self loathing on a pedestal. This is oral trash.
@twjames18 Are you retarded. First Bukowski said himself that he wasnt that good (wether i agree with him on that is another matter) he felt he had to do because he could and almost everthing else is crap. That most poetry was alll pretense and bored the crap out of him. This is a very clear and honest poet it doesnt get much simpler than this. add a little style to thing so we can bear looking at it with out simply dissmissing it. He not putting loathing it a pedestal he's painting of people
@twjames18 who dont count. "The grass goes insane and orchids left to die" is very simple imagery and metaphor. The orchid (the most beautifu and rare) dies without anybody giving a shit about it. The grass goes insane..goes willd unkept, left to run over everyhting and tangle itself. Its just a little apocalyptic imagery for someone who isnt precious about metaphor. If this is to much for you im sure youve never appreciated apoem in your life. He just saying say a prayer for people who are
@KingMinosxxvi How or why do you want to listen to a poem like, "To the Whore Who Took my Poems"? I am not saying just because you like the art you have to like the artist, but the majority of this man's poems are about being dejected, poor, low-down trash. If art is ultimately for pleasure you have to ask yourself how this can give you pleasure.
@twjames18 First of all this mans poems are about his life. and i find allot of his art pleasurable because he writes with verve and style. The majority of his art touches allot of people becasue he writes for the man on the street with nothing or the man who works a shitty job and feels no decent woman will have him. His books speak to them with humor and and give them enjoyment and even in there honesty a little bit of hope. I enjoy them becasue they are true straigh and wriiten well.
@twjames18 .(look up the man with the beautiful eyes on youtube) his poerty is about saving the spark of the soul (he can only illuminate that through what he knows) And I find them greatly pleasurable. IF not for any other reason than they are written well. Poetry and art is not nessearily only about pleasure. it is that through its pleasure we might understand ourselves and each other.
I have to say a little more about this comment. "Oral trash" its true that allot of what we call art could be considered trash.(This in my estimation is no where near fitting in that category) what actually populates the worlds culture, at least american culture is all dumbed down for the attention span and immediate impulse and predjudice of the viewer. Its designed to stimulate some vaguely pleasurable impulse while at all cost avoiding anything that puts off unamtured skiddish sensabilitities
@KingMinosxxvi Hey I meant to tell you I really valued what you had to say. I was surprised by your thoughtful comments to be honest. It just seems to me if you want to be free from sorrow, talking about it won't do it, but will actually keep you in the same situation. By Einstein's definition that could be considered crazy - doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. All we do is talk about being free from sorrow as a pleasure. We love our fear.
@twjames18 I appreciate your kind reply, often when one makes a thoughtful reply in theese forums people simply say nothing or tell to shut up. Maybe im just a little tired and i dont see the entirety of what your viewpoint is. However art is not simply someone talking. The purpose of drama for instance from the beggining was to engage the people in tragedy, by proxy. a procedure that requires a kind of fatih. If they experience tradgedy in this they would see there deepest fears up close in
close in front of themeselves know them and therefore in the course of the drama purge them.(catharsis) This also has the affect of bonding the community. OR the blues look at the sad things so you can put them aside and enjoy on what good. If we are affraid even to look at ourselves at the human condition how can we hope to transcend it let alone understand each other. Ill stop rambling beauty is important for its own sake just as is passion or pleasure or simplicity
Bukowski´s voice is same time horrible and calm. Now when I am allmost sober I can hear differences and variations. Little bit dull no aggressive poem but okay. And I am not Us citicen I live near Ziberia and Manitou has left the bulding
r crumb did the art in "the captin is out to lunch and the sailors have taken the ship" one of his last novels... kinda depressing but worth reading...im lucky black sparrow publishing was in my home town i got all his stuff for pennys cheers
at least you wrote.right behind ya chump, only a few more years of insanity before i beg sense of it pen to pad.hope you somehow still exist out there well no i dont i hope youre fatigued enough for quiet
