the 4449 group has to rent cars from private parties. Not very many, if any, cars are painted in daylight colors. The group is trying to buy cars to offset the rental costs.

844steamtrain, 4449 rents all cars that it uses these days. These rentals are very expensive. What they are trying to do now is buy a few cars to offset the rental cost buy renting THEM out. Steve Sandberg and the 261 have solved that problem. This is another good excuse to give them money!!.

844steamtrain, Back in the 80's, the 4449 group had Southern Pacific supporting it. Now SP was merged with UP. Plus all the cars that were painted in red and orange were painted specially for the event. almost all the cars thet she uses now are owned by people all across the country. The group wants to buy cars so teh don't have to pay to rent private cars. Steve Sanberg and his 261 group have cars they use and they rent them out too.
