Ive heard this about the UK version too. From what I've gathered, the audience's mindset in Europe is different from that in the USA, where they're always helpful. If the French audience didn't help, but rather tried to confuse the contestant, then the contestant would not use them as a life line. When the results from the crowd appeared, nobody laughed. Ignorance and stupidity is everywhere asshole.

Ive heard this about the UK version too. From what I've gathered, the audience's mindset in Europe is different from that in the USA, where they're always helpful. In the UK, the audience can be mean-spirited and will try to trick the player. (By the way, Im not knocking Europe, America has its faults, we impulsively invade the wrong countries and such.)
