Hummm..... I rather think this lacks the 'romantic' ethos required, it's much too fast! The mystery of the opening and the entry of the oboe in the 2nd second is destroyed. HOWEVER, good fluent performance. :)

Very skillfully played, and for the great part, excellent registrations. But a dime fast all the way through for my taste. If this piece comes in at under 6:00, the organist is hurrying a bit IMO.

Well, never mind the sound problems at the end -- this was wonderful! The interpretation was intelligent and inspiring, and not at all flashy. Besides the fine performance, I was impressed by the good coordination with the registration assistants. A very fine job by composer, organist, and all -- thanks for posting!

Une version d'une immense classe, où tout coule dans de belles phrases chantées, galbées. Une des difficultés de cette pièce qu'on croit si simple est de garder une belle unité générale, ce que je trouve très réussi ici. Magnifique moment de pédale de 2:09 à 2:30. Ignace Michiels est un de nos vrai virtuoses belge bien trop peu connu chez nous! (...)

(...) De même on ne soupçonne pas les qualités indéniables de ce Klais des bonnes années. Même si les buffets posent des problèmes d'historicité, il sera domage de le perdre tel qu'il est! Il y a de la saveur dans ces timbres.
