The base Fusion achieves 31 mpg on the highway, equal to that of the base Camry. Only the Fusion hybrid beats the camry hybrid. Fusion uses the platform from Mazda6 and the HSD tech leased from Toyota Group, enabling it to outperform the current Camry hybrid. However, I would reckon that the next generation 2011 Camry hybrid to at least equal that of the current Fusion hybrid.

The escape hybrid gets 34mpg city which is another good hybrid. Also the 2010 taurus!!! Omg that thing is drop dead gorgeous! And ford's new ecoboost engine line... Amazing! 365hp from a 3.5l v6. And great fuel economy. around 30mpg. And you know the mazda 6 is the fusion's chassis its just got different looks.

Ford is really upping their game against the competition lately. I was impressed with every Ford/Lincoln product I looked at when I was at the Chicago Auto Show. The new Taurus's interior wouldn't look out of place in a German car because the quality is so good. If I was in the market for a midsized car I'd be torn between this new Fusion and the Volkswagen Passat. None of the new Japanese cars really impressed me except the Mazda6.

In my opinion this car has just gotten fatter and more refined and high tech. Apparently ford isn't willing to put the sweet 263+hp Duratec in a reasonable sized first gen fusion. I think with a more powerful 2.3, the duratec 35, and a 45+mpg diesel like Volkswagen Jetta has, ford could dominate all the competitors in every category. But I guess they'd rather just copy the boring gayass Camry and build boats just like the 70s. Kudos to Volkswagen for being different.

The Fusion surpassed the Accord and Camry in quality in its first year (2006) and has beaten both the Camry and Accord in CR ratings ever since. The Fusion is already a segment leader in quality, and I would expect that leadership to be maintained with the '10 MCE.

The Accord and Malibu look better only if you prefer bland, also-ran style. The Fusion will draw more attention, and certainly is far more aggressive looking.

As for sales, '10 will be the first time Fusion leads in drivetrain.

Also, Hermosillo already running at near capacity for the Fusion-triplets. So for lackluster sales, it seems to be doing pretty darn well.

I hope they expand production, because with the 2010 updates I think they will likely need it. Best in class 4 cyl FE, 3.5 to stave off Nissan VQ, hybrid beats Camry hyrbrid by 5 mpg, PIP 240 HP V6 for mil-level models with nearly 30 mpg. For the first time Fusion is a class leader on powertrain, to go along with class leading quality and style. Nice!

The only reasons why the Fusion did not outsell the Camcords.

1. The V6 engine only had 221HP. they both 260HP+

2. No Hybrid option available

3. The interior wasn't the best.

Ford has addressed all of these issues in Aces. the 2010 Fusion has the best HP and Fuel economy in every engine except the 3.5 V6. What more do you want?

I do not think it is right that Ford...a domestic company, sells it's best cars elsewhere. The simple fact is that Ford has world class cars...and none of them are sold here.

All I want is the Mondeo, Euro Focus, and Falcon. Ford can continue to peddle the North American appliances on-sale now...but those three cars would truly give Ford an edge over GM...their closest rival.
