The assist i was talking about in chelsea: in the box messi waits and pulls 3 defenders to him before giving it to iniesta who was given the space. The same was there whole match,also in the final. If it wasn't for the fact Ibra misses so many sitters(and Bojan missed 2 set up by Messi yesterday) then he could easily have around 20 assists this year instead of the 10 he has.

The assist i was talking about in chelsea: in the box messi waits and pulls 3 defenders to him before giving it to iniesta who was given the space. The same was there whole match,also in the final. His only job was to create space and take advantage of the fact that he was marked by gangs of players.

@tqlax21 I agree Messi is easy more complete. Ronaldo is better at free-kicks and aerial ability(messis scored more headers than him this season though), but it's not like Messi is incapable. Nearly every other aspect goes to Messi for me. People who say he isn't complete, don't know what they are talking about.

Iniesta has been injured a lot of time this year so he has less assist and goals. I am Barça fan, I have seen every matches and i can say that Iniesta is a brilliant footballer. He attacks, defends, he moves the ball like nobody else.
I think he is the new Zidane seriously. Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Ibrahimovic, Alves, Toure, Puyol, Piqué, Henry... that great team!

@tqlax21 Iniestas job isn't to score goals. He offers something completley different to the team and is very usefull in the big games when Messi And Xavi are being man marked. You can't compare Messi with Iniesta cos they play different roles and different positions for their clubs.

@tqlax21 Yeah, it's not all about goals when it comes to Messi. Infact, some of his best performances have been in games which he hasn't scored it. The ammount of oppurtunitys he sets up for others, with his quality passing, also makes him the best. If it wasn't for the fact Ibra misses so many sitters(and Bojan missed 2 set up by Messi yesterday) then he could easily have around 20 assists this year instead of the 10 he has.

@tqlax21 iniesta falls into the same category,trust me.xavi and messi are great but without iniesta,they will not be at the top of football now.trust me xavi NEEDS iniesta and messi needs both xavi and iniesta to perform at his messidona state.iniesta might not be prolific but if u watch his matches u would see what a great team player he is with his runs and that it is not the lack of ability but rather his tendency to pass first that prevents him from scoring freely.

@tqlax21 yes but if u hadnt notice xavi gained most of assists in the later part of that season,which iniesta played in. as for messi he doesnt need xavi and iniesta to play well of course but for him to deliver the same performance week in and week out, those 2 are a great help in helping to control the game for barca. and while i agree xavi and messi are a tad better,i do not believe for them to be in a "different league" as u have mentioned

Face it nerdness11: Iniesta and Xavi are better at assists than Messi if you mean the precision of passing and assists themselves. Yet some (read many) assists become possible just AFTER you've created the space for them, usually with speed and dribbling. That's why Messi is overall far superior than both Iniesta and Xavi in assists. He's a true forward, but also a true playmaker.
