  • After this performance, he drank all the booze and banged out at least 10 supermodels. Post-copulation, clad in only a silk robe with a bulging Cubano in his mouth, he walked out on to his hotel patio overlooking the city. He took a puff, exhaled and just laughed. That city was built for him.

  • Such Confidence Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • He would've had them on their feet at the apollo.

  • WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO SARAH SMILE!?

  • they are the best ever

  • I always loved the IGGSTER!!!

  • Haha Dude is wasted as !!!

  • Great song

  • i was exactly 4 months old.

  • Not the best but still good

  • The Universe lightS up from your SMILE~

  • this wasnt 1 of his best performance

  • b4 metallica, b4 these bands b4c every1 there were people who mastered that guitar!

  • it's 10:04 and a chic is comin' over :)

  • @joelvis66 What video are you watching?

  • This is great music!

  • U should all cease your petty reactivist indulgences, none of u know what your talking about anyway!!!!!!!

  • The world is better when Hall and Oates are performing!

  • I had the H20 Album from 1982-? It was one of the best damn things I ever bought on wax and I was only 10! Can't find it on CD!

  • Daryl totally owned this crowd, had them callin' back to him like a preacher on Sunday!

  • Dear God I miss my youth when music was really music not just a bunch of noise.

  • good song... take out the chinese! lol

  • Daryl Hall...One of the best singers in rock/pop history!

  • Hal is great live with that voice!!

  • JB die miley DIE

hall and oates still own your asses

  • These guys have "good ol' 80's" written all over them... good stuff....

  • Bababooooey mamamonkey,

  • I think he was simply tired of this song. I saw him in the early 2000's and he really didn't want to sing it. But it made them both famous and he should be grateful. And he has a wonderful voice. I think he sold himself short with the music he sang. I love it, but it's not timeless.

  • I saw Daryl Hall perform this in the 80's and when he sang it he was crying and got down on hands and knees and was beating the stage while singing. We were like 'wow something is going on here'. I tried to find out why and then I found out about Sara Allen.

  • @SoundAdvice4u wow, please tell me more...whatever happened with his love Sara??

  • @flytommy1 They broke up in 2001 after 30 years together.

  • YOU BETTER SING BOY!!!

  • He's got range, good ad-libbing, but no soul. There was a sexy, soulfulness to this song when they used to do it. Here, it's done too fast & somehow, the magic is lost.

  • @youroldsweetie huh???????

Lots of love songs are done at this tempo.

They always speed up when playing live. Just listen a few times, it'll sound right.

  • ES BELLA

  • Saw then in the prime in 1982. Darrel is a talent but a fuck stick because he is a junkie who can not stick to a script. He it tripping of in la la land and forgets people pay to see him sing like they hear on the radio.

  • @governmentslaves i hear you but it looks like he's just having fun and the crowd doesn't seem to mind they're into it

  • @governmentslaves Really, I didn't know he was a junkie?? What a shame. I wonder if this was what tore Daryl and Sara Allen apart?

  • @flytommy1 He might be clean now and I suspect he is. I really wouldn't doubt he drug use had an effect on many aspects of his life.

  • @governmentslaves I don't, I want to hear them change it up. I already have the record.

  • @africkinamerican You don't understand how this idiot can take a simple 4 minute song and morph into a 15 minute self indulgent crap that does not even remotely resemble the song that he started.

  • My favorite!!!! That man can fn sing!!!!!

  • Killer vocals!

  • Mr. Smith on guitar.

  • Daryl, I want you.

  • Los angeles representing nice song

  • great!!!!!!!!

  • why was I born so late???

  • So much soul that they made the KKK's top 10 list.

  • Wow! Give me a break.

  • My Grandma loves his singing

  • SIN DUDA LA MEJOR BANDA DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS ME ENCANTAN Y A DARYLL LO AMO

  • That was absolutely righteous. Hall and Oates are a true credit to what music is all about! Loved every second of this video.

  • They got better with time --yet never really hit it top,,,cause of this--music

  • Underrated? Ha ......maybe you just weren't around back then.

  • @PresidentGas1 Yeah my mom said that these dudes were always really the only white artists that alot blacks listened to back in teh day......SOUL is a concept that has been forgotten in todays music. These guys had it

  • @younghoush Yeah ....they had it but they weren't the only ones. Music has never been the same since we left the 70's - 80's.

  • Growing up in the late seventies and eighties, all we listened to were R&B radio stations. Hall and Oates were on all of them hangin with Stevie Wonder, Frankie Beverly and Maze, etc... These guys are BAD!!! Love 'em

  • These were the real blues brothers!

  • they're like modern righteous brothers

  • Hall and Oats were so good and still are.. They did some great songs.. Then, they weren't as popular, pumping out hit after hit like they did before.. That must be very difficult as a musician.. To try and follow yourself in hits, time after time..

  • WOW G.E. SMITH ON GUITAR

  • Hall & Oates were never given the recognition they deserved along with their Producer and Fellow Philadelphian Musician Todd Rundgren.....

  • Exelente grupo y cancion, de que año es exactamente??

  • @MrJosealfredo69 1970s

  • Why always Asia.

  • @TheSpock1830 They always saved the best for Japan, I guess. Apparently Daryl liked the Japanese _____ a little more than American ....

  • HELL YEAH!!!!

  • Daryl Hall never gets credit for being one of the best soul singers ever to come out of the Philly scene.

  • hall & oates git down!!!!!

  • they is good..

  • i love this song, my mama used to play it when i was little. (i prefer music that took place between the 60's and 90's to this techno crud thats out now.)

however, i find that i prefer the recording to the live perfomance (it could just my 20 year old brain not understanding the significance of it all) but i feel as if the recording has WAAAY MORE EMOTION than this particular performance. it sounds more like he's just trying to get the crowd hype. he is a talented live perfomer though

  • @daisyplayer The live version has its own groove ... it's a different groove from the album, but both are good. Many performers, maybe most, speed up the tempo in a live show. It's just a different situation and it's easier to get the crowd into it if you do it a little faster. And they want to have something for their guitarist to do, so they have him play on the live version, so it becomes kind of a different song. But that's what makes these guys such great artists.

  • fantastic!!

  • Great song:)

  • Great artists, they are like Steely Dan ..perfectionists

  • How can 9 people dislike this great classic? I'm incredulous...

  • this is great I love it, thanks dearly for posting some REAL music! CHeers to you,

  • Let em in

  • ライブもまた素晴らしいな Hall & Oatesで一番好きな曲だわ

  • Blue eyed soul!! I love it, they dont make music like this any more

  • hey man!

  • fuck! the beggining iz so awsome. great stuff

  • Guilty pleasure right here!

  • I prefer the mellow original LP version...too upbeat.

  • Man, the dude must have been getting chicks left and right back in the day - what a life he has lead...

  • HALL & OATES ROCK USA

  • they are still fab. Look at Live at Darry's House . . . great stuff!

  • the guitar in the start is great

  • @ultraclimax

Fender Telecaster, havin several versions of this song, I feel this to be a little bit rushed.

  • Random thought: Jim Carrey was still wearing jackets with those big silly-ass shoulder pads well into the 1990s.

  • I'm from da hood, but I have 2 admit dat Hall & Oates iz da shiznit!

  • @nwadiei shut up faggot!

  • @MCFabes Yo cross-dressing daddy!!!

  • @nwadiei

It doesn't matter who you are, if you can look sharp and sing like this dude, you can get money and hot women. :)

  • Love this song so

  • This is my favorite Hall & Oates song ever!

  • Che bellissima canzone ... unica. Gooooooooooood !!!

  • The lead guitarist looks like the former band leader from the SNL band!

  • @jonwest88

That's because it is G.E. Smith. He did a lot of studio work and tours too. He was a well known NYC pro...which is how he got the SNL gig.

  • @JEdgarGroover incorrect

  • @jonwest88

That's because it is G.E. Smith. He did a lot of studio work and tours too. He was a well known NYC pro...which is how he got the SNL gig.

  • @JEdgarGroover And for the life of me, I still unclear why people hold G. Smith in such high regard. I have seen him play live and heard him countless times. . . I don't know what the fuss is all about. He is a good guitarist, but not a monster guitarist.

I guess this is just another example of N.Y. hype / bullshit. New Yorkers are notorious for this- They think anything (or anyone) from N.Y. is God and anything outside of N.Y. is shit.

  • this song was about his dog lol!!!!

  • @1234a30 This song was written for his longtime girlfreind Sara Allen.

  • where is this concert

  • Daryl Hall is completely underrated as a singer......An American treasure to be sure.

  • @suzannelaubenthal He is one of the most successful artists in music history HOW is he underrated?

  • @suzannelaubenthal that's a bad white boy for real....he can get it today! lol

  • @suzannelaubenthal

This is one of my faves too:)

  • @suzannelaubenthal damn, i just sent this to my girl in italy,,sob can sing !!

  • @suzannelaubenthal i totally agree...he truly had an amazing voice

  • @suzannelaubenthal John Oates is an underrated singer....

  • @TheDubDoubt his pitch was kinda off when he was echoing Daryl during the break. But I agree John could sing, wish he'd gotten more chances to get out of Daryl's shadow back then, and stand on his own two feet. He could've developed a style as strong as Daryl's but didn't get many opportunities.

  • @suzannelaubenthal you got that right!!!!!

  • @suzannelaubenthal aperantly he is a japanese treasure. ahahaha

  • @suzannelaubenthal '

I absolutely agree. What a voice!! Put them in the Hall of fame already!!!!! xoxo katyrus@live.com

I have had a crush on Daryl since this song.

  • @suzannelaubenthal

    I agree!!!!!!!!!!

    katyrus@live.com

He's one of my forever crushes. ;-)

  • @suzannelaubenthal Truly!

  • @suzannelaubenthal HOWW IS HE UNDERRATED!!?!!? He is one of the most commercially successful singer EVER!!!?

  • @MajCinematic Underrated by the critics and the "cool" crowd in the '80s and '90s

But as time wore on into the 00's it became harder and harder to deny that H&O were the real deal. Listen to the crap that passes for music out there nowadays!

  • @africkinamerican They were "Cool" at least by 1984 with number one hits like "Out of touch" and Dryl's "Dreamtime".....I think they were appreciated and ceertainly more successful than a lot of crap. I also agree lots of music is SHIT today compared to this.....actually this and older 80's music is ALL I listen too I hate auto tune click track shit today.

  • @MajCinematic You can be underrated and still have sucess.

  • Thanks for posting. If a good-looking guy like Daryl thought about me and make such a song for me, I would faint for joy. I heard Sara got very pleased hearing it. This is the greatest love song for a woman I ever know in American music. I wish to hve such a love some day??? i want to know more about the woman Sara and Amanda.
