  • <3 oh my freaking goodness <3 i think i just lost my strokes virginity again!!!!!!

  • love how he says believers. clash verision is better but this ones good :D

  • omg jules blowing a kiss to nick when he threw all that fucking drink on him lol.

shit i love them so much

  • This is a great band doing a cover of a great song from another great band!

  • Julian is wasted!

  • people shouldn't get mad when one band covers another, unless they shit all over the original by changing it and butchering it. that's not what happened here, so even though I love the clash and don't really like the strokes too much I couldn't care less. there are way more important things to get upset about

  • Did anyone else notice Jules spitting at 1:58? Ze Strokes rule.

  • one of my favorite songs being covered by one of my favorite bands, do things get better than this?

  • why..the fuck.. are those credits rolling when the strokes are still playing? ..um.. no.

  • this is actually better then the original, even though the original kicks ass too.

  • @natalie20136 I love the strokes, more than most people, but this doesn't really compare to the original. I mean, we're talking about the Clash here! Great cover though

  • @natalie20136

I'm a big fan of The Strokes... but the original is way better than this (it's a cool cover though).

  • I'm British, I love the Clash, and I think this is a great, faithful cover. There, I said it.

  • @pidgin Same, but loads of American bands have done good covers of Brit bands.

  • My favorite Clash song!

  • Nikolai is just like "yeah......"

goddammit i love his laid back attitude

  • anybody know the intro chords?

  • Hahaha after Julian spun with his drink and got some on Nick and he was like "Dude...really?" Jules blew him a kiss:) lol I LOVE ZE STROKES!!!♥

  • hahah love julian. fucked out of his mind and hes still a sick ass singer.

  • Me esperaba menos, pero les quedó bien, ya que aborresco a los strokes.

  • This is one of my all time T in the Park highlights So its raw and he's fucked, but what the video doesn't get across is the energy and emotion that The Strokes stirred up in the crowd.

  • strokes better than anyone else

  • It's one of the bands that make good covers anyway.

  • You can't play as good as the real clash

  • He's singing as good as usual, I just can't understand what he's singing exactly.

  • I would rather the Strokes play a Clash song than any other band, because any other band would fuck it up real bad.

And Julian's voice sounds great in my opinion. He's probably drunk, but the vocals are good. Very raw. :P

  • julians voice sounds great

  • o melhorr

  • they did this so much better at v fest same year

  • agreed.

  • Jules being drunk might have something to do with the lame vocals.

  • his voice was worn out because they headlined that festival so they played from day to night

  • @wikytiky125 wait what are you talking about

  • the strokes don't call themselves anything. what are you talking about?

  • How bout that? A decent cover.

  • did he just blow a kiss at nick after hitting him with beer? xD

  • lol he did

  • I love how he just spins in a circle spraying beer and it hits Nick <3 and he just keeps playing, ahah

  • two of my favourite bands;it was pretty awsome finding this.

  • 1 : 58 xDDDDDDD

  • ese tipo es un orgasmo!

  • Gibsonlpt - it's in Scotland

  • what is or where is T park?

  • One of the biggest rock-fests at the UK

Like Glasto, FIB heinenken (spain), Eurockeenes, Bonaroo, or Lollapalooza (USA)

  • this festival is the best

  • i wish i could go!

  • not as good as the clash but still pretty flipen awesome

  • i agree. the clash is the best. but i like this version too. what should i say i damn love the strokes!!!

  • seriously it's not that big of a deal its not like the strokes took credit and said 'fuck you joe strummer' before they played it. and the guy whos mad it sounds nothing like the clash...GOOD.. whats the point of a cover if it's a carbon copy of the original. thats why the killers suck so bad, the try to sound like joy division and new order. the strokes do an original interpertation and its good.

  • yeah i agree. they probably did it to honor joe strummer whos death (in 2001?) was still prettly recent then

  • @ soccerhead247:

Actually Joe Strummer died in Dec. 2002

  • why is everyone being so serious about this? so they played a clash song it's not like they offended the clash or something.

  • @ouuu you know british people, they can't accept the fact that an american band can cover a british band well. probably better than the arctic mokneys could have. and yea joe strummer did love the strokes.

  • I'ma huge huge Clash fan, and I like it, even though Clampdown is one of my favourites, it is a good cover. Unless you're up there doin it, don't assume that it can be better or is worse! x

  • nick valensi really cleaned up the breakdown at 1:31, listen to the clash do it, its different than the original.

  • boring cover...sounds too much like the original to be worth listening to..some people might like that it sounds alot like the original but to me I just can't help but think I might as well just be listening to the Clash. I like covers that the band covering really makes the song their own by putting their own spin on it.. this is just too close to the original and the vocals are not nearly as good.

  • ok that might have been a biy harsh, i like the strokes they have done some good songs. But still the cover is not a cover it sounds excactly like The Clash

  • it doesn't sound anything like the clash... I'm sorry but it doesn't. jules was fuckin trashed and if anything it sounded like a ramones' cover of the clash

  • why does it make people mad that theyre covering the clash? its just music it should make you feel good, and if it doesnt dont listen to it, pretty simple.

  • loves both of them

  • dire! dont mind it being a cover, or any of that, just a dire performance watever the song. im a massive fan but really!

  • thats harsh man, its just a cover they did for a festival audience.

for the record its fucking good, even though it's quite a straight cover

  • a cover is a cover. and if you notice, the intro is very different. so fuck off the strokes. theyre amazing and so is the clash.

  • 0:20

    Blow Kiss

  • i k now! so cute

  • best clash cover ever

  • love the clash but i think this cover brings out the music a little better than the original! thums up julian!!!

  • DRUNK JULIAN!!!:)

  • i love the strokes. FTW

  • As much as i actually BUM The Strokes, and i love this cover 'n' all..

    The Clash OWN The Strokes.

  • love to the clash but this is honestly better than the original

  • ehh ofcourse a copy can be better? what a stupid argument

  • congrats man keep copying...

  • your a tool its a cover not a copy, hence it can be better

  • Thats disgraceful

  • no I agree, something is up with Julians Voice here. I prefer it when its like "aha ha, yEah... zzzz rrrraaarrarararrara cuz ala la laaaaooooo, o no, but "fuck that"

  • Joe strummer loved the strokes, said that they were one one of the first bands in ages to make him smile when they broke in 2001, so i guess theres mutual respect

  • is that true? lol thats awesome

  • tis true, he went backstage at one of their shows to compliment them.

  • and that night he kiked the bucket right??? He died at about that time

  • no dont think so id say around a year later roughly....

  • @squirehorse Cool. Where did you find that he said this?

  • Not a fan of strokes at ALL, but good cover! 4/5!!!!

  • y not

  • Cause he ain't got NO BALLS SONNY.

  • Damn julian is going to electricute his band members...and the audience! hu hu hu

  • these guys are the fucking bollocks

  • fuck you the strokes are amazing

  • dude it was a compliment lol.

  • i thought bullocks meant bullshit

  • great cover!

  • From a longtime, hardcore Clash fan who saw them twice, The Strokes rocked this song and thanks for sharing.

  • question: did you see the Strokes twice or the Clash?

just curious, but anyhow, I agree with you

  • the atmos just went through the roof when they played this !!

  • the Strokes are fucking awesome and so are the Clash, they are both amazing bands.

that being said the strokes don't really pull off the song that well, it just isn't their style.

  • I love The Clash as well and I remember reading somewhere that Joe Strummer saw The Strokes before they were signed and fucking loved them. So people dissing The Strokes just stfu, and stop being vaginas. This is an awesome cover and Strummer would be honored

  • one of teh bets covers of a clash song i have ever heard

  • umm its a cover maybe.

  • :O no way! Read my comment.

They are an unoriginal band genius, besides covers

  • every band is origional unless they are a straight up cover band. just because they have musical influences in their sound doesnt make them unorigional, it just means they have an ear for good music fag.

  • the strokes mexico city

  • Your mother is a sucker

  • @01011101010001111010 you really dont know good music..poor you..i feel pity for you.okayy???

  • STROKES!!!

  • fair fucks to them for coverin it, good job 2

  • As if the Clash never went on stage blitzed out of their minds.

  • très classe le crachat de Jules ! hihi

  • Justinsos what book was that??

  • I still like the original better, but theyve done a pretty good job here. I wish they would do a studio version of this one

  • it's on the b-side of the end has no end

  • i feel stupid asking this but Whats a B-side?

  • oh just a song that didnt make it on the album and most of bands put on a single you know the A side is the single and the other song is a b side

  • so if you flip a cd over theres more songs on it?

  • Are You dumb?

  • a b-side is the secound side of a single or a lp...thats because a vynil record hast two sides...on a cd there is in fact no b-side but on a single there are mostly two or three songs...so you say that the "extra songs" are on the b-side

  • so if you flip a cd over theres more songs on it?

  • no...

  • Callen a los que no le gusta el cover!!

Hasta suena mejor q el original...

Asi que shut the fuck up hijos de puta...!

    =D

  • I read a book about Joe, and in it,it said that joe like the strokes he saw them at a club or something and meet them after the show and jules gave him a big hug and said something like "why are you listing to are music you should be listing to yours"

  • that didnt make sense at the end

    check your grammar

  • Im pretty sure this was played as a tribute to the late joe strummer, seeing as he says "R.I.P. Joe Strummer" at the end

it wasnt meant to be as good as the original

it sounds more like the live version than the cover.

Jules is more wasted then usual seeing as this is during ROF days.

He's been better before that, and is better now.

It would be a formidable match for the original if played now-a-days

  • Finally someone with common sense on here. To everyone that said "Oh he doesn't sing with as much passion" or "OMG it's so slow, where's the energy", do you not notice that the guy is drunk? I mean, I'm not trying to defend him or anything, but seriously, it's common knowledge that alcohol makes you not be able to function properly, therefore this performance isn't going to be the best that they can do. If they had performed this clean, I'm positive many of you would have different opinions.

  • Just thought I'd jump in here with a side note: The Clash actually loved The Strokes. After The Strokes played at a festival, Joe went backstage to find them and told them that they were the first band in years to make him smile. So to all the critics that are staunchly defending The Clash, they actually liked the band that you're criticizing, so I'd take a second look at The Strokes before jumping to conclusions.

  • Yeah, that's a good point. I read that in a magazine article on them before.

  • Iggy and Shane can perform drunk and I am cool with that because they are great.

  • ssssssssick cover

  • I think you guys have to keep in mind that Julian was drunk as hell here. I'm sure if they covered this again now that they're clean it would be 10 times better. I'm still happy though that they covered it to begin with.

  • they want want to cover it among their own songs that all people can see the diffrent quality ( Strokes songs= much betta)

  • Why do people spaz out so much when bands do covers? Calm down people. A band payin tribute to a band. Good stuff.

  • Everyone needs to clam their ass down. Everyone should just be happy that The Strokes admire such an amazing band and made the effort to cover the song; I know I was. And to those who say The Clash's "sucked": I doubt the Strokes agree with you considering they were the ones who chose to cover the song. Why would they cover a song which they thought "sucked"? Exactly.

  • Fuck you, asshole. The Strokes themselves wouldn't even agree with you. Why would they cover a song of a band with a "gayass" singer? You obviously know nothing of the Clash so you shouldn't even be talking unless you want to be an ignorant waste of space.

  • Sonically, it's a good cover. But lyrically, it's fucking horrible. To be honest, I'm not too familiar with The Strokes, but does he always slur and mumble the words like this, or is he just wasted?

  • Always wasted.

    That's our Jules!

  • you're an idiot freddydaslay.

i highly doubt even the strokes would agree that they are better than the clash, because no one is.

    that is all.

  • fuck up

  • Great cover!! Just remember its never meant to be the original.

  • excelente cancion, un merecido tributo a los Clash

  • bloody hell you bunch of retards the strokes aren't trying to look better or anything they are a doing a great tribute to a legend that influenced not just teh strokes but many others and the whole point of a tribute is too sound slighty different to the original otherwise you might as well just go and listen to the orginal. The clash are legends. The strokes are legends.

  • The only thing this band suceeded in was drawing some, I do mean some audable simmilarities. This was just CRAP! I guess I am a retard because this was a butcher and did not sound good even it wasn`t a song I already knew.

  • as a strokes fan i can honestly say they couldnt touch the clash the clash are one of the best bandsever to grace the music industrey the strokes are a good band thats it there is no comparison

  • I completely agree. I love both bands, but come on, not even the Strokes would say they're better than the Clash; I could guarantee that.

  • exactly, any self respecting band wouldnt compare themselves to legends such as the clash. this cover is alrite, but when people say that this is how the clash should have done it, or that this song has more passion and energy then the clash version they are sadly mistaken and have obviously never heard or seen the clash perform live.

  • yeah they're too humble. but their fans can. like me. i think the strokes are better than the clash, all right. =]

  • For all you Strokes fans afraid of saying the Strokes are as good as the Clash it's okay. They are. The Clash made a huge impact in thier time and The Strokes are making tribute. It's a very good cover as far as covers go. The Strokes have made a huge impact on today's music scene and just because they are at the start (hopefully) of thier careers doesn't mean they won't eventually reach classic status, if they haven't already.

  • why are most of you guys such haters!!!!!

gees if u dont love the strokes like the rest of us then dnt spread your ugly negativity to the whole world!!! i could say some reli nasty things but i dnt want to stoop down to your disgusting level!!!

They are the strokes no matter what rank people like u say....

    TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT....bitches

  • I like The Strokes, and this was, um, okay I guess. They aren't close to being as good as The Clash of course.

  • Who gives a shit about the politics or whether the riff is exactly the same, its a cover for fucks sake and The Strokes are a Rock band who make pretty good music, they dont need to have a bloody political agenda. The point is this version has much more energy and there's no denying it, which I think makes it much better than the original, ok? So dont try getting all technical in a bid to sound superior.

  • much more energy?? watch a video of the clash playing this song live, pay attention to strummer when he sings. you'll understand that the clash owns this shit excuse for a band.
