WTF? Who found this funny? And one of the 50 FUNNIEST moments on tv?? I remember this show on Fox many years back. Some of the episodes were funny. This episode shows why it was DUMPED. My kid's school play was better....
@texasguy11363 I'm gonna have to go with you on this one. I just read that this was one of the funniest moments on tv.......but this kinda sucked. It honestly looks no better than the average wanna-be funny youtube video by some virgin out on his cul-de-sac. Where's the wit? It's just a bunch of people trying to get a laugh by being stupid-funny.......not genuinely witty-funny. If you want to laugh, watch Family Guy. Those writers aren't afraid to take that show to the limits.
Chris and Bob Elliot for President. That was one of TV's best ever shows but Get a Life never had good ratings. I think it has a cult following. Great show.
My parents took us to a live performance "Cats" and we pretended to enjoy it just like the kids at 7:15. If you never saw "Cats", this episode probably seemed pretty random.
the laugh track was put there for a reason. who cares if you can turn it off on the dvd. see, the point is that this is an anti-sitcom. remove the laugh track and you ruin the joke.
OMG!!! Thank you so much for posting this! I have been singing that song on and off for years, and people have looked at me like "ah, WTF dude?" every time. Now I can link them to the awesomeness that is ZAOW!!!
My second favorite episode next to the one when Chris became walletboy. Truly an epic piece of film. This was when I was so excited to watch TV every week.
this play reminds me of a theater group from the Boston area. called the OPEN DOOR THEATER from Jamaica plain. their plays would insults some ones intelligence, not to mention the fact the plays would start in the middle and end in the middle! kinda like those French films with sub titles and the women chain smoked and never shaved their under arms! what a waste of time!
Oh god do i love this clip! Chris Elliot is the best! Too bad i can only get my fill of him now through his books, Shroud Of The Thwacker, and Hot Air: Mounting Mount Everest. They're good, read em......I wish theyd give him another show or movie....
Thanks for putting these on! Could you or someone tell me the name of the episode when there was a shootout? I think it was with the police? He might of been dreaming? Thanks!
Yo I loved this how as a kid and still love it now that im 30 ! I got lucky , a couple years ago this dude was sellin a 4 dvd set with every episode(he taped from his vcr) on ebay an i got it. Ebay has since kicked him off .I watch it all the time its hillarious. I wish they would bring this show back , they brought back family guy. Lets start a movement to get this show back lol :-)
@robertmarino1603 Unfortunately, only a small selection of the episodes were released on DVD. Some of my favorite episodes have never been available on DVD or VHS. Does anybody remember the meat locker episode, where Chris and Sharon get locked inside a meat locker? That was my favorite.
Not hilariously funny by todays standards, but it is ahead of its time. The ridiculous animals on wheels musical is something I can imagine seeing on South Park, with Stan, Kyle and Cartman rolling their eyes in the audience.
I saw this when it originally aired, and I still laugh my ass off when I see this. This show was ahead of its' time back then, and it still holds up now!
god dang i loved this show. As a 13-year old paperboy, I looked forward to this everty week. This IS a classic moment that my friends and I still laugh about.
I used to watch this show when I was a kid - but this episode isn't very funny. And for TV Guide to consider it the 17th most funny moment in TV history is a bit strange to me.
Ohhh man, I was only 12-13 years old when this show came out but I thought and still think this is one of the best shows ever made. And this clip is one of my favorites. C'mon, zoo animals on wheels? totally hilarious mockery of community center plays. Hilarious.
this is my all time favorite show, but this is actually one of the only, if not the only one of the skits from the show that I didn't really find to be very funny.
I really enjoyed Chris having roller skates that don't roll. They must fave fixed the wheels because Chris couldn't stand up on them. Also, "Late Night" fans may remember the little tune and dance at the end. Chris used "Alley Cat" for his "Banana Dance " as Marlon Brando in the 80's.
i miss this show sooooo much...bob elliot is one of the realest and greatest tv father's of all time...and the show is even more hilarious to me, w/o the laugh track...
Chris Elliott is an amazingly funny person. A true comedic genius. His Book INTO HOT AIR is great and GET A LIFE is in my opinion the greatest sitcom ever made. Too bad it was about 17 years ahead of its time. I am about to go watch Cabin Boy right now. Laters
I haven't laughed so hard in ages. Man that is so classic. I was freakin' tearing up and gasping for breath. No lie. Chris Elliott is one of the funniest dudes ever.
Seriously, haven't laughed this hard in a long time. This is seriously one of the funniest sitcoms ever. The old man's comment's are ingenious, absolutely great. This needs serious consideration for modern comedy. Amazing!!!
I can give the answer:Its because the ''laughing tape''is missing. saw the same footage with, perhaps some folks arent good at recognising subtle humor without the laughing tape... ;) (I think Get A Life is one of the funniest american sitcoms ever)
I've read numerous posts on here with people saying "I don't get it" and "not funny." Seriously, in that case, what do you find funny? If this can't make you laugh, what does? Don't get offended, I would really like to know, please help me out.
I had this taped when it aired and I was a kid. I used to watch it over and over, and I thought it was hilarious. Somehow that tape got lost, and I haven't seen this episode in years. My time apart from this classic has made it that much better, there is nothing on tv now that can even compare to this. Amazing!
Man, I haven't seen this in years!! Love how the "Zoo Animals on Wheels" episode is dig at those Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals (Cats, Starlight Express)while also sending up that 80s kids' show "Zoobilee Zoo!" (singing, dancing animal people sharing some moral lessons). Funny stuff!!!
strangely, I have been to "artsy" plays like this that everyone is supposed to like because they are caught up in the pretentious air of the liberal arts scene
seriously? I really don't get the humor. I sat there and watched the entire thing and didn't laugh once just kept thinking the punchline was coming or whatever made it one of the top funniest things on tv. I've never got Chris's humor. I always watched Letterman, but Chris was just plain dumb humor that was never funny to me, so what am I missing?
I suppose I'll never know since no one can explain what is so funny. Maybe no one knows why. This seriously is not funny and I don't get how people think this guy has talent.
It's not completely your fault. Most girls have a simple sense of humor and have no brains for the absurd.
So for future reference, since you'll never, ever understand why: Actors playing zoo animals on roller skates in a horrible play and "staring" at people in their faces in order to make them aware of the issue is very funny.
Sad that most people don't get this show's sense of humor. Definitely not one for mass consumption! Go back to your reruns of "Friends" and catch up to us later.
Back when I was in high school, nearly every kid was watching crap like Friends, Home Improvement, Family Matters etc. I was watching stuff like this, Herman's Head and Married With Children. No one at my school but my cousins and friends liked this show, they thought it was plain stupid. They just didn't get the humor, that's the only reason why they thought it was stupid.
I'm posting this eagerly awaiting the download. I haven't seen Zoo Animals On Wheels since it aired. I think it might be the definitive Get A Life/Chris Elliot short of "S.P.E.W.Y. and Me," which I own.
Noone who thinks anything in life is remotely stupid could approach having the sense of humor necessary for appreciating this.
this show was so ahead of its time. chris elliot rules nothing but my heart i guess. i'll never forget him crawling out of that man hole on conan begging to be the new andy richter. amazing... simpy amazing
