  • Please please please can you do a thorough lesson on string bending in the Knopfler syle for beginners like me? I cannot get them to sound nice and clean, e.g. bending B string lifts the G string into the D string and the D will ring out when you release the bend. I have tried to mute using my first finger but that's not what MK does, most obviously when he's bending with only 2 fingers and the first is playing notes on a lower string at the same time. Please can you help - you're a great tutor!

  • hey... there was a video of MKGuitarStyle (MKGS) with a camera beind the strings... that explained very. ( that's how i learn it ) now it's not online... no problem with your teaching.... but if you don't mied just a tip ( don't repeat yourself... it's a video... people can pause and rewind :) )... i'm still trying to get it right... i learn so much from you... so thanks! your right hand video is superb, especially the telegraph road. the best! thanks again

  • @lmarrao Thanks for your message and compliments. When I get round to completing this video (soon) I will take your advice, never thought of it like that before so thank you!

  • Great !

  • Hi Dany

Never normally comment, great lesson mate. Wouldn't put yourself down, i'd say you're an excellent teacher. Keep up the good work.

  • AT LAST!!!! Someone who does it properly!! Thank you so much for this, I play with my fingers too, but have found vids for this hard to come by in terms of playing it properly! Thank you a million times over, time to get practising now :)

  • @bgstrat62

    are you serious ?!

  • @bgstrat62 I'm afraid I'm not quite up to that standard yet but I might do some more vids if I think they'll be helpful. Thank you for your comments too.

  • @FringeDivisionNY Yep that's it, index and middle finger. Your index finger and the thumb work the D string together (not always hitting at the same time) if that makes sense. If you think 1,2,3,4 - the one is the thumb on the D, the 2 is index and middle upstroke, 3 index and middle down stroke and 4 index and middle upstroke again. I don't have my guitar in hand but I think that's it! Use that as a guide and stick with it. If you're like me it just goes BAM and suddenly you get it. Took me 7

  • Awesome mate, I've tried working this piece quite some time ago and got pretty close. If I have another go at this riff with my guitar in hand and this video in my face, I'll be sure to get it. Cheers from New York!!

  • this riff is really tricky to play. thank you!

  • exellent

  • Man you have done a very great lesson of this song (Which I already Knew) but what I loved more on this video and I aprecciate so much is the "Hospital donation cause" Man, I support you. That was incredible!! cheers, and good luck to the hospital...

  • Hello Dany,

I usually don't write comments on youtube but this time I must do again. I want to thank you for your work and I appreciate it very much.

I'm trying to get into this technique for a longer time but still its hard for me although I'm no beginner anymore.

I know this song is very very hard to teach and explain but you did it quite well. those few minutes now you gave me, will probably exercise me for many weeks or even months.

    ~greetings~

  • @Sandro140586 You're more than welcome, keep at it, it will come!

  • @dany4kin when you say hit the D and G with the first 2 fingers you mean Index and Middle? so down stroke with Index and middle the up stroke with them? then open D with the thumb then repeat?

  • @FringeDivisionNY ..... took me 7 years to get this riff but I'm a really slow learner... :-)

  • Comment removed

  • @Sandro140586 Don't worry too much about making it look right with the ring and little fingers on the body, when I started I was using my ring finger to pluck as well! You will probably start to find something comfortable that works in time. Have you tried moving your hand toward the bridge and rest your palm on the bridge for support?

  • @dany4kin well, you will laugh, but I already got my right hand working, after 2 days now. lol. I got it. now its all about keeping it constantly going and changing strings meanwhile.

  • brilliant

    thanks for sharing ;)

  • thanks mate, great tone/video/lesson

  • great video!
