  • ARE YOU CALLING OWER SHOTS!!!!!!!!!

  • Yay Brinck!

  • I worked w/ Brinck during operation live free or die!

  • Go Brinck!! Ron Paul 2012

  • Awesome video man!

A little resistance goes a long ways!

  • Good video.

  • an open question to the trolls SILENTNATION1 and p00lman:

The topic of this video was about limiting government spending and taxes.

The two of you (i assume you are different people but i doubt it) spout your non-sense on every Ridley video.

    So answer clearly:

Do you want more government spending and taxes?

What EXACTLY is it that you want?

Do you think more government power is the answer?

  • I can't speak for P00lman - he lives in South Korea. But I....live in Keene - I have answered this question a thousand times on other Ridley vids...when I try to engage in discussion it turns into a battle of wits - and when things don't go the other person's way - its a mud slinging contest. I'm not going to answer it anymore. What is so nonsensical about a person who has a different viewpoint then a pat on the back? You people advocate freedom, yet shun those who have diff. viewpoints.

  • silentnation, you said: "You people advocate freedom, yet shun those who have diff. viewpoints.

Umm, is you are opposed to freedom that means you favor it's opposite slavery?

  • And fu on the troll shit - its getting lame - and it effects me not to be called so. One is not a troll when they engage in discussion, which I very clearly do on most of Ridley's vids....freestaters just don't like it when someone has an opposing view or critiques their behavior. Get used to it - I'm not going anywhere.

  • Look at all the (-) negatives next to poopooman and the quiet one.

  • Wow - 2 or 3 negatives....so stinging. Do you think I really give a crap or am even remotely surprised when the blind leading the blind don't like my viewpoint? - I don't.

  • Good video, Ridley. And good point.

  • Way to go! My city needs one. In the past 2 years they have spent over 500K just to hire out of state "consultants" just to tell them where to put parking lots, signs and buildings. They then hire their buddies to build and make all of this crap.

  • Rid: you give an instructive outline that others should follow. please continue your work, it will succeed. tj

  • poolman is a dumb ass, as clearly seen in any comment he makes on any post.

  • Another great edition of the Ridley Report. The video wouldn't be the Ridley Report without PoolMan giving the answer to the question nobody asked.

I don't think he understands that up to 50 cents of every dollar collected from taxes is wasted on useless programs. We could cut taxes in half and everything would run fine. Not to mention some of those "officials" don't pay taxes because they're just so special :)

Keep it up. Whatever is going on up there is making a difference.

  • I really like you Ridley- Godspeed!!!!

  • Oh my goodness man, that looks like a republic thing you've got going on!

    Kudos to you guys!!!

--I recorded a video 10/5 about the failed Chicago bid and my editor said he should have it up by this weekend (hopefully) where I speak of Niels Harrit

(But I wonder if the people over here where I live aren't taking quaaludes -- not nearly so adamant for their rights, which I find sad)

  • Republicans are just as big of spenders as Democrats. Just a different side of the same coin. Ron Paul would be more of a Constitutionalist or Libertarian.

  • Yes Republicans in some ways are even bigger spenders than Democrats. They have done a better job at spin so that the majority of people don't realize it.

A spending cap is a great idea. People are losing jobs getting asked to take pay cuts. The people have to work with a tighter budget to get by and so should government.

  • It is because the dems and reps refuse to allow a 3rd party in the race. Clinton sealed this.

I say we should bombard our reps for passing H.R. 1688, I believe is the correct number but I don't have my notes. The Industrial Hemp Bill, sponsored by Frank and Paul in 2009. New Industry which would be a great benefit to the people here in Jobs, etc.

  • Personally I would love to see such a bill it might just save our family farm.

But I would go one step further and decriminalize all marijuana. This is so scientist in this country can study it for it's medical properties. Medical science was seriously set back by making marijuana illegal.

  • @ libertyfizz

They killed the last industrial hemp bill in 2007, but 1688 is new this year. Google industrial hemp bill for yourself, if you don't believe me. People need to step out of their comfort zones and speak out, like write letters to the local papers, their reps in congress, etc.

--After all, nobody is going to give us our country --or our freedom, back. We must take it back, ourselves.

  • The pro-government activists like the folks from Granite State Progress are full-time workers for more taxes, more regulation, and more government power. If they weren't spending time stopping the spending cap, they might have spent their time and money trying to institute an income tax or worse!

  • "A tax doesn't take away liberty. A tax takes away money." Certainly you understand that money represents a man's time and labor sir?

  • Sure, so you're saying I can steal your money so long as you reap some benefit from the proceeds? Or is it only that one group of people who is allowed to steal?

  • You didn't answer my questions.

  • If you aren't interested in discussing things, then why leave comments? I would suggest you consider why you have such an emotional response to questions to the extent that you can't even entertain an idea without getting angry. If it's not stealing, then prove it. My proof: 1) I make money 2) Organization takes my money without my consent 3) Theft has occurred, regardless of how the funds are used.

  • The founding fathers fought the war of Independence partly due to taxes. This has nothing to do with the 16th amendment. It is a local municipal government spending cap. Which was legally voted for by the people. NH municipalities get their money from hospitality and property taxes.

People are dealing with pay cuts and tighter budgets. It is only fair the government maintains current spending level. Increases in property taxes leads to increases in homelessness.

  • @poolman dumbass it is a LOCAL spending cap not a national one.

It was legally voted on and passed so it is the law. Deal with it and if you see any saving because your taxes don't go up. Please get some education other than public schools because you really are ignorant.

  • think b4 speaking, this is a local protest, not national.

  • think b4 speaking, this is a local protest, not national.

  • And like all other thing's 5-year olds knows lacks subtelity and depth in analysis. Part of it was fought by internal oligarchs that were made when parliment limited thier power by prohibiting fiat currency. First thing the that congress did was to issue the continental. The war like all popular movement was a hodgepoge of interests, opinions, and motivations.

  • But it's irrelavent to the question. Is taxation factually the same as theft? Are the facts alledged to surport the supposed representaltion of such a quality in nature to establish an actual agent-prinicple relationship?

I would say you are avoiding an examination of the facts, because none of them are on your side.

  • You're hilarious.

Show me "facts" that prove that taxation is theft. If it's so self-evident, you need to start a global movement to end taxation. Surely, if the facts are that obvious and compelling, billions of people will listen to you.

  • Find the US income tax law...

  • chris3443 Has already laid them out. For all your wit and posturing you have still not adressed what he has laid out.

  • Letting others do all the talking for you?

  • If it means spending less time typing out a response to trolls, absolutely.

  • Is someone forcing you to respond to trolls? That's really sad.

  • It's a basic fact of the universe. You take something from someone without their permission, it is theft.

  • Wow, that's a fact of the universe? I wonder if the Martians agree.

  • Inflation is theft. So is taxation but rather is people who like to spend someone elses money that is comitting the theft. Its like this would you pay someone 80k to give you tickets because the street sweeper cant wash the street How about pay someone that much and when you need help like when you lock your keys in the car they driveoff and when they do they say I dont have time. An hour passes and they are still cruzing around. later on you see them sleeping with the car on. No respect .

  • so what do you call inflation??? The government over reaches and spends more that it can afford it borrows from places like china who makes its people work like slaves. When China cant whip its slaves hard enough to pay for our debt that is when Ben Bernanke runs the presses. Its a cycle of theft. its obvious when 90% of the wealth of america is owned by 3% of the country who is paying for the lobiests choices for america. The only way for our government to pay back THEIR debt is to inflate.

  • "China can't whip its slaves hard enough"?

Would you like to rephrase that to sounds less racist and culturally insensitive?

  • You're slacking tr00lman. Not enough tr00lness in this post.

  • How did the US function prior to 1913, the year the 16th Amend was ratified?

From 1776 to 1913 the US had police, schools, fire fighters, armies, navies, post offices, roads, canals, dockyards, etc, ALL WITHOUT AN INCOME TAX.

You're confusing society with government. As Paine explains in Common Sense: "Society is produced by our wants, & gov't by our wickedness; the former promotes our happiness POSITIVELY by uniting our affections, the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices."

  • Mostly from tariffs, correct.

Duties, imposts and excises are all indirect, and for the most part, voluntary taxes. Income tax, a direct tax, is not.

The average American works from Jan to April or May, just to pay their income tax. How can that not be considered part time slavery?

The US got along fine before 1913 w/out an income tax.

Why do you call someone "ungrateful" for questioning the need for an income tax after 1913?

  • Actually the income tax goes back at least into the 1850's. The 1913 ammendment just closed the loophole that prevented corporate dividends from being taxed.

  • There were many things people had in those early years - that we should now be thankful for no longer having. It is completely ridiculous to assume friends and neighbors in today's world would get together to make a canal. Outside of guitar strumming porcfests are millions of people who would'nt stop a beating if it happened right in front of them.

  • But think about how a society gets to this point. Socialism gives people the false sense that the government will come to their aid or to the aid of others. So they think they don't have to do anything cause that is why they pay taxes. It isn't until they are the victim or in need and the government lets them down do they finally come around. That the responsibility lies with them.

Look up how mutual aid societies operated or Charity hospitals or the origin of hue n cry.

  • The money collected from income tax doesn't pay for anything you listed. It only pays for the interest on the national debt.

Schools paid for by lottery proceeds and property taxes, NH local services paid for by property taxes, and roads paid for by gas tax. Originally the national defense funds were suppose to come from import and export duties not income tax.

The current government is way outside the bounds of the founders' Constitutional intent. The nation is less prosperous for it

  • Lets look at what is Liberty and what Taxes do. Liberty is the freedom that people have in all respects: wealth property, your body, your mind. Taxes interfear with your money your property and your mind and your body. Lets see how. First taxes take wealth away from the labor that you and only you have done. Taxes were inposed on all property that you have. including property . Nonpayment results in taking liberty from people Physicaly and mentally by repoing the house that you labor earned.

  • So you're pro-abortion, yes?

  • You guys are doing amazing things. Small steps lead to big leaps!

    Keep up the awesome work!

  • oh my I wish I had shaved the day that vid cap was taken...

I'm like 25 lbs lighter and 100% less caveman-y now haha...

Thanks for the kind words, Ridley, and I hope anyone that sees this remembers that anyone can make a difference in New Hampshire's unique system of state and local government.

  • well maybe it makes you look more "anyone"

    :)

  • ridley's always on the march. keep it up man... i really can't wait to move now. this is an inspirational one.
