  • pretty cool,pretty cool,pretty neat pretty neat.

  • U did a great job on the video, thx

  • Dude that was so friggin kool. Good job

  • @BCNoel1 Thanks! Check out my playlists - I have one with 4 ebow vids, including this one. Cheers!

  • most important question...how stoned were you at the time of this?

  • @FadedMain1 Most important answer: VERY!

  • Would you demonstrate how the Bartolinis sound? Clean, crunch (with and w/o delay), and full on distortion? A long one such as this video would be awesome. Thanks

  • @tranquil369 Do you mean with ebow? Or just regular playing?

  • @ChadWork1 Just regular playing. No effects other than a little delay after played dry. If you're down to do it, perhaps separate the gain and clean segments for two different videos to demo all pickup selections. Thanks

  • @tranquil369 Best I can suggest is to subscribe to both Chadfish and Chadwork1, and you'll get notification when I upload. Right now I'm swamped with work and can't record anything. I will say that the Barts are nice pickups, and a decent upgrade if you're thinking of doing it. I'll try to get something going. It's hard to tell the difference without first recording with the original pickups.

  • That sounds sooo sick!

  • what you using to record and loop ?

  • @thumbfacenot Hi! I had a Boss DD-6 pedal I hit with my foot. There's a newer version out now with much longer delay time. This was all one take - live on the spot. I'd hit the loop pedal, make a sound, release the pedal, then play lead ebow over it. Cheers!

  • @Chadfish ah ok cool man, i thought you used a sampler or something.

i have an ok Zoom Player 2100 Board so i will mess about with the delay and see if i can do something like your video, but i don't think i will be able to, everything i play will be delayed and i wont be able to switch sounds either, damn.

i got an ebow yesterday =)

your video was great, really excellent in fact, i'm inspired to make something after watching it

    thanks for replying

  • @thumbfacenot Well delay pedals for guitar are common. Mine has 5 sec delay time available, but there are ones with a lot more time. I'm sure you can find something cheap used. No guitarist should be without a delay pedal.

  • @Chadfish yeah man i have an ok fx board, it does 5 secs delay.

i was just looking at the Boss DD-7, it looks great, i see now how you were able to record and then loop guitar parts, i think i will invest in one. but until then I'll keep using Audacity.

thanks for the info and help

    take it easy

  • @thumbfacenot Hi> I'm not sure if I answered your question. I was using a Boss DD-6 for looping. I recorded the 2 mics straight into my camera all in one take. There's a new Boss DD-7 out that has a little more delay time.

  • So cool...video fxs....and ebow.....thx a million

  • Dream-worthy? i definitely think so... This sounds amazing! Now I definitely want an Ebow

  • @CDI647 Thanks! It's totally worth the money to get an ebow. Get a digital delay you can loop with too - that kicks it up to another level.

  • I got an Ebow about a year ago and I stinkin' LOVE IT!

  • this is awesome .. just got mine in the mail yesterday.. but i'm going to get the jackson sustainic . and maybe sell my ebow for cheap..

  • This is so strange, I really wanna get one. It's cool because on the lower register it sounds like the slow attack of a cello, but on the higher strings it's more like controlled feedback. It's bitchin

  • this melody was beautiful.

  • I like it a lot!

Now I am more sure of my need to try an ebow!

    And the effects were cool.

  • @Maneby Get an Ebow! You won't be sorry.

  • @Chadfish

There seems to exist many versions of the ebow? But there's only one common brand?

  • @Maneby There's only one or two versions I think. There is "EBow" and EBow Plus". The plus version has a switch for 2 kinds of sound.

  • @Chadfish

Okay, thank you, I'll try to check them out!

  • @Chadfish Are you a Robert Fripp fan by any chance?

  • @ISISbandLive Hi. I've heard of him, and heard some stuff, but I'm not too familiar with his work.

  • @Chadfish Oh, I thought you would be. Just asking because some of the parts you play are in the same vein as his solo stuff. Great video by the way, I think I'll be buying one next week ;)

  • @ISISbandLive Well I'm honored to be compared to such a great talent as Fripp. I do encourage you to pick up an EBoe Plus, or "Plus Ebow". However they say it... The "plus" is a switch that gives you a second tone that is good for higher notes, and also makes low notes play like they are harmonics. Like a singing tone an octave above the note you are playing. Ebows are just awesome.

  • cool stuff. psychedelic man! i love how you went major at the end

  • H4X !!!

  • The trippiness of the video works great with the sounds... I'm wondering how many times people used the word TRIPPY in your comments? That's my first word... the next is AWESOME! Thank you for sharing this!!!!

  • @leopolski888 I do like to keep things trippy whenever I can. I've taken many trips and I like to blur the line between so called "reality" and imagination. My Ebow02 video is pretty dang trippy too. I kicked it up a notch.

  • This is some trippy shit dude

  • @ProjectMayhem007 Why thank you!

  • Sounds nice :)

  • This is really beautiful :D

And nice job with the video-editing too ;)

Which program did you used making this video? :)

  • @TomMorella Hi - thanks! I used Final Cut Pro.

  • i love the video on acid...but watching it anyother time is annyoing

    but i love the music

  • This is beautiful. I just ordered myself an Ebow because of this video :D

  • @gleegin Awesome! You'll love it. The maker's site is ebow dat com, and there are lessons and mucho info there.

  • how much do a ebow cost in the usa ?

  • About $100.00 terjekebab.

  • @Chadfish

okay thanks for the answer :P

  • This is very close to the soundtrack music played in the move "Sling Blade" around the time of something violent (I don't want to spoil the movie).

  • Cool I love that movie, but I don't recall ebow music. I'll have to check it out again.

  • I think MrKozian has some sort of hearing problem. You're no Eric Clapton of course (no offense, neither am I), but to say you suck is redicoulous. You are a great guitarist, and this is a great song. I was very curious about the E-Bow, I didn't actually know what it did, or how you used it before this. I think I want one now though.

  • Thanks! You should get one. You can get so many sounds out of them.

  • You gave me some great insight into how this thing works. Obviously, you've spent some time getting to know your setup. And your classical background really shows. Thanks!

  • Ooh! You got me with quite the zinger there sizzle chest.

    MrKoz -1

    Chad - 0

  • Jesus dude ..those vid FX...i'm gettin flashbacks!...nice playing btw..

  • is it possible to play arpeggios with an ebow ? or just one string only patterns ?

  • Yes there are arpeggios in this video - a little bit. You just hold your fingers on each string, and drag over all the strings.

  • i see; thanks for the answer; i guess it's possible to kinda sweep with this thing, gotta give it a try !

  • Reminds me of blackwater park

  • So you just hold it above the strings?

  • It rests on the 2 surrounding strings. The closer you take it to your neck pickup the louder it gets. It's awesome.

  • This is great - and I really like the video effects. Trippy.

  • that ebow is the shit. it will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine.

  • haha this is so funny, i just pinched this video and i was like "dude... i feel like i already saw this" and then i scrolled down a little bit and i saw my comment hahaha

Anyway, is' also really cool when you're not on drugs.

    Keep it up Chad!

  • You should see my Ebow 02 when your high!

  • will do sir! =)

I went to pick up an ebow today but it was sold out =/ maybe friday!

  • dude im so high

  • what is this on the amp ?

  • That's my Peterson Strobo-Flip tuner. $200.00

  • Chad = Badass

  • Wow...this thing is more than some...sustainer. Its the single most impressive thing I've heard of...I'm 18 and have been playing guitar for 6 years and...this is news to me. I think ill get one...Next stop, ambient egyptian. (Or maybe...celtic?)

  • They really are fun! Check out my Ebow Guitar 02. I used a slide and wah with the ebow.

  • It was strange...perhaps a dosage of some kind of prescription would make it even stranger...neat stuff. What do legatos have the capability of sounding like? arpeggios? Is sweep picking possible? So many questions.

  • Check out 3:35

I am doing sweeps that could be arpegios if you heald your left hand in the right position.

  • a little pitchy up the neck :/ love your styles though! ebow ftw

  • Yeah I bent up a little sharp on some stuff.

  • Where you just trying all the video effects of your software?

  • That's exactly what I was doing. I just wanted to try out a bunch of the effects I had never used.

  • sounds like a bagpipe, with that pedalnote :)

  • I have been wanting one of these for awhile now(since I can't afford a fernandes sustainer guitar/or a jackson sustainiac).Very cool video,love your tone-kind of hypnotic....

  • I'm pretty sure I just left the sub orbital orbit. If that is even possible.

  • Check out Ebow 02!

  • I'm a epileptic and almost had my epileptic seizure because of your video editing somewhere in the middle :D

  • Dude.... Sorry! I just gots to keep it trippy. At what time did the offending visual occur?

  • Haha, I almost had one at 4:01, but i threw myself into my bed and luckily nothing happened :D

  • looks like a fun toy

I expect due to it's magnetical power one should make sure to remove any piercings before playing j/k ;D

  • the video effects are distracting as hell, but I really like the music. makes me want to spend $100 for an e-bow of my own

  • I actually liked the effects. :)

Totally amateur'ish but looked like he was having fun.

I just bought my first EBow and I love it too. Nice video!

  • @Fu345 i got one for £69

  • @thumbfacenot Isn't that about 100.00 US?

  • @Chadfish it is actually 112.469 USD acording to google =)

  • hey you know how everyones talkin bout ebow wah?

i just had a guitar lesson and my teech brought an ebow. so i put it with the wah and its AMAZING

we also tried ebow acoustic guitar, bass, and my fave the banjo =D

  • You're in for a treat. I have a big video coming with ebow, wah, and slide. Totally sick. Still editing the vid in my spare time. Soon.... Sub up and you'll get it sent to you.

  • its like an acid trip for guitar

  • really nice men, great!!! i just got my ebow in the mail today:D:D and I'm starting to get used to it:)

you really got some awesome sounds out of it, hope ill be able to do it as well:D

  • Just practice. It's not that hard. Listen to the audio lessons I have posted in the "more Info" section to the right. Good luck!

  • Good stuff, Chad. Great playing, and I like the way you used it as a chance to bone up on all the random Final Cut effects. The effect at around 7:20 is pretty trippy. P.S. - -I can't believe they're still playing that last Forbusco spot. Everyone in the county seems to know my face these days.

  • Well, more like 7:30

  • woo woo woo wait a sec im confused...i jst found out about this E-BOW thing literaly 5 mins ago..so, how does this work? i thought u plugged into ur amp or somthing..what r u actualy doing with the object its self?? oh and can u make the type of sound Bloc Party make (particularly in the Weekend in the city if u no it..) sorry for this silly childish comment

  • Hi I don't know the Block Party song you refer to, but an ebow woorks like this:

You place it over the string you want to vibrate. It has little ruts to hold it in place with the strings on either side. It electromagnetically vibrates the string, like a bow on a violin, endlessly. It rins on a 9v battery. It even works on non-wound acoustic steel strings, but not as good. There are audio lessons in my "more info". Ebow rules dude.

  • One more thing: I also had a delay pedal going off and on in this tune, so all the trippyness wasn't just coming from the ebow.

  • wank

  • Nice to meet you Wank. I'm Chad.

  • the foam on the wall makes it sound so much better!

  • This is one awesome video but the playing is icing on the cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rock on.

  • Thanks man!

  • i wnna make one sound like a didderydoo

  • I think you could do that if you played one note on the ebow guitar, but run that through a talk box, then use your mouth to make the diggerydoo sounds.

  • cool thanks =)

  • Dude... you're vid is seriously trippin me out... and I'm not even stoned this time...

    More vids please!

  • Glad you like it! I have another ebow tune in the works. This time with slide and wah, multiple tracks, and bass. It's a big job so it may take me a few weekends to edit. If you subscribe you'll be notified when it's done. I'm going for a high trip factor...

  • Musically very unimpressive. Surely you can do more with the ebow ? unless its more of a novelty. if i'm not mistaken its just a droning e with a bit "improv" ontop.

  • What Video editor u use?

  • I use Final Cut Pro. A great editor! Altough for PC (I use Mac) I would say Vegas is awesome, especially if you do audio stuff. Vegas hands down has the best audio of any Video editor. Vegas started out as an audio editor. But FCP is an industry standard. I use it for my job. All the plug ins you see come stock.

  • C'mon I love to hit the strings with my fingers!

  • I was really enjoying this but honestly had to stop watching because of the visual camera effects. They were giving me a headache plus you have more interesting things to say than whatever they could possibly be adding to it.

  • Cool. Reminds me of Robert Fripp.

  • Reminds me of some of the first Big Country record.

Fripp doesn't use an ebow, he controls the feedback and uses loops.

  • Awsome Video & music!!!

How about let's recruit a few more EBow guys and doing a piece together?

  • That sounds good to me! I'm all warmed up. I just recorded basic tracks for a new Ebow tune. It will be a while because I'm going to add some bass and make the backing tracks better. I may go off on the video editing too. I have more footage/angles to play with.

Maybe we could record the group song by having someone come up with a rhythm/bass bed to play over, then everyone does 16 bars, or maybe harmonizes with someone else. One person starts with 16, then uploads it for the next to play 16 to

  • Do you have any Ebow pals that would like to be involved?

I'll start to put some ideas or templates to gether.

  • I don't know anybody else that plays ebow, but I will add an ebow track if you make some backing music.

  • super trippy, where can i grab one of those?

  • Musician's Friend. Or Google "Ebow Plus"

  • what kind of amp is that?

  • Hi! That would be a Mesa LoneStar Special. I frickin' LOVE it. 2 channels 5/15/30 watts each, lead switch (makes channel louder, and you set the amount, 2 tube reverbs, FX loop, sounds very nice, though not for heavy metal. Google it, you'll see there's much more.

  • great vid...very psychadellic..would love too hear what ebow+wah sounds like....anyone know of any vids?

  • I may just have to make an ebow vid with wah pedal. I already thought of doing that, and even throwing in a slide to kick it up yet another notch. If you sub you will be notified when this happens. Thanks, now I have a project for this weekend!

  • Love this. Found you through eaglecrowowl and 11:11 Who Are We? Wonderful soulful stuff. Great job!!!

    :o)

  • Yes she has some interesting stuff. I don't put a lot into my youtube videos. I'm usually too tired from putting most of my energy into my day job doing TV spots. I also have a life as a singer songwriter with lots of audio only recordings on my Humboldt Music web site. Glad you enjoyed the tunes!

  • sounds kind of like the halo theme at one point

  • very cool now I want one of these too :)

  • sounds like the jedis theme in star wars, can you make a vid of it? that woyld be cool

  • sorry not the jedi one, the one in empire strikes back i think

  • Yeah I know what theme you're talking about. I can hear it a little too. Thanks for listening!

  • that was the coolest effect i've ever seen at 4 minutes

  • great video and demostration man, greetings from Caracas, Venezuela

  • Hi Chad - I finally got the video done where I use this awesome piece of music. I can't thank you enough. As you can see, it is an integral part of the video. I loved working with it and editing to it. You are awesome! Rock on! :)

  • I love the melody and tone! Very nice performance. As for the video, I believe the effects add to the experience and I like them, although a couple of times I'd prefer them to be more subtle. Good idea in 2:40 with the screen delay :)

As for the ebow, I think I was just persuaded to buy one.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks man! Glad you liked it. I recommend a ebow to any guitarist. They're just plain fun.

  • At the 2:00 mark I decided to go on Ebay and buy one. Great playing / demo

  • Go get one! They're awesome. I think the ebow Plus is back on the market.

  • Hey! I followed your advice and bought the Plus today. It turned the guitar to a new instrument! I've managed a few tunes and I'm quite happy, though it's obvious there's more to it than I can find in one day :) Got pretty smooth tones on the normal mode and I like the harmonics mode for some special sounds.

Thanks again for the food advice ;)

  • What other people said, but in a kind way: Sometimes the video effects get a little annoying, yes.

But hey, GREAT playing. It made me actually want to try one of those. cheers.

  • looks like you had a field trip with some new video software

  • Yeah great video !

  • this is a great play! a graet vid. thanx, man!

  • what does this thing do exactly

  • A small electrical charge sets up an energy field, vibrating the string until you pull it away giving you limitless sustain.

Thats what it says on Musicians Friend.

  • Hilarious, Ravi Shankar would be delighted!

  • stfu with the ripples its annoying play something lol

  • I was playing the whole time. Close your eyes if you don't like the ripples.

  • i dont mind the playing but yea the vids annoying nice playing do these damage the pickups at al im interested in getting 1

  • thats wicked! i like it!

  • Wow. Thats amazing. I've been wanting to pick one of these up, but I'm not sure I'd know how to do that kinda stuff with it. Is it hard to do?

  • Both the music and the video nice and psychedelic. Good job!

  • Hey ass munch, why don't you try to make even one video. The effects are done exactly the way I wanted. Nobody cares what you think. You contribute nothing other than negativity, so please piss off.

  • i thought the editing was creative- it had excellent timing with the ripple effect and the colour changed were unreal!

this would make an awesome music video lol

(2 more days till i get my ebow)

    wooooooooo

  • I really like this video! Its make me think of me when i do experiences. Incredible how art is connected to all artist.

  • I think all artists, & people are of the same spirit. So we see ourselves in the art of others. I'm glad you like my video! You are very creative and talented. I really like your playing. I am subscribed to your videos.

    Cheers!

  • i will create a play list with you music my friend. I will listen your art when i will do drawings. It gonna inspire me!

  • can this only make sound with the press-ons and pull-offs? or will an amateur player be able to pick this up and understand? (2yrs) i saw the ad for this, and i think i would like to get it.

  • thank very good sound & playing

  • woah... hyperactive video effects! Was the clip edited by a 7 year old? It was kinda cool in places (the video fx) but just too A.D.D. for my liking.

Very nice work with the eBow though!!!

  • Thanks for the back handed complement. The video was edited by a 41 year old.

  • Yeah, I feel bad now... Gotta say I really did enjoy the playing! It's really nice work on the eBow and was informative too (I'm condsidering buying a eBow, and you helped convince me).

I still feel coming back to it though, that the video FX just change around too much... For me it would've been _much_ cooler if you just stuck to a couple of FX (say the motion blur for the ambient sections, and the kaleidoscope for the chunky eStrummed riff).

  • (continued)...

The video effects themselves are really nice and make the video more distinctive, it's just changing them around all the time makes them kinda tacky where they could be classy...

Anyway, I'll stop rambling, just wanted to reword what was meant to be much more praise than criticism in the 1st place... (you do see that the positive part of the first comment got all the exclaimation marks...?)

  • Well something like video filters are a subjective artistic choice. I'm glad you like the ebow, but I can't edit for anyone else but myself. I was just trying to make a one-camera shot look a little more interesting with some eye candy. Thanks for stopping by.

  • niceeeeee

  • Yeah, I don't use a pen tab either. Good Music man, nice to meet ya.
