  • This is standard procedure just about everywhere, including here in the mountains. The reason the water (and it is water, and maybe some HCL spotted where the perfs will be) shot out is because the well isn't under pressure and the frac valve is open. The expanding gases need a place to go and so the water was displaced. Like I said, standard procedure. 4500' in southern WV is lower Devonian shale territory, probably Marcellus or Onondaga. This is what I do for a living...

  • Because there is no pressure control equipment. Where you think all that CO2 would go? Not out the perfs. =]

Looks like west Texas operations to me.

  • What sort of acid is it mixed with? Why acid - why not CO2?

  • ic, well thats different from my experience, i've done perforation on wireline and tubing conveyed, but i've done gas well perforation with tubing but no water done the hole. we just dropped a rod down the hole and quickly closed the master valve.

  • why wasn't the well closed in when that was done and wouldn't the water have nfg'ed the well.

  • the well wasn't under pressure that was the first zone that we shot the other 3 zones where under pressure as for the water it is mixed with acid
