  • No Dis-respect to Ewing but Olajuwan was better

  • wilt chamberlains the best but hakeem has best foot work..

  • Uhh....Hakeem wasn't taken 1st over all in the draft lottery...because the lottery didn't exist until Patrick came out.

  • ewing isn't fit to clean Olajuwon's shoes

  • this idiot doesn't know how to pronounce olajuwon.

  • Centers like that will never re-appear.. now its just about makin money and makin video clips

  • Meanwhile, Olajuwon won the MVP trophy.

I took a look on the career stats and to be honnest, both centers has basically the same figures from a scoring point of view (22-23 p/g in career).

Nevertheles, I didnt see the entire nba 1994 finals so I only can trust you for the head to head.

  • Ewing was better than Olajuwan for most of their careers and consistently beat Olajuwan on both ends of the floor when their teams would went head-to-head. Even in the '94 Finals, although the Rockets won the Finals Ewing beat Olajuwan in their match up.

  • @Omnicronimous

    I hope you're not serious.

    They are both awesome centers.

But offensiveley Hakeem is much more skilled than Ewing : fade aways, dream shakes, jump hooks, turnarounds, pump fakes etc....

Defensively, they are both great intimidators and big rebounders.

Hakeem gets the record of number of blocks in career (3830).

Otherwise in '94 finals, Hakeem averaged 27 p/g, Ewing 20p/g. So who won the head-to-head ? Mmmh ?

    Hakeem has 2 rings, Ewing : 0

    So Hakeem > Patrick.

  • @bartime100

Watch the series. Ewing had more blocks and more rebounds than Olajuwan by far. And if you watch the series, replay most of the fouls called on Ewing when 1-on-1 vs Olajuwan and the vast majority were clean blocks. Ewing became tentative after getting called for fouls so frequently in the first few games. Furthermore, there were many times Ewing was fouled near the basket and it wasn't called.

  • @bartime100

I'm not contending that there was bias, although it is hard for me to believe that Ewing's lions' share of the bad calls was unintentional. But there is no mistaking that Ewing was hampered by bad calls. The bad calls on Ewing's blocks were noticed by tv announcers (Marv Albert and Bill Walton) and they mentioned it in the first few games. They mentioned it less after it became a habit.

  • @bartime100

I don't remember which game it was, but I'll never forget a series of three straight possessions in which Ewing blocked Olajuwan cleanly. In the last of those three possessions he blocked Olajuwan 3 times in a row. On the third block they called him for a foul. At the other end of the floor, Ewing was usually manhandled by Thorpe. Thorpe guarded Ewing at least half the time in that series. Olajuwan only guarded Ewing part time when they were both on the floor at the same time.

  • @Omnicronimous Im sure u remember the Olajuwan leading Houston Rockets beating up Ewing to win the first of Olajuwan 2 championships. Something ur boy couldnt even fathom

  • @bartime100

Prior to '94 you'd be hard put to find any NBA experts outside of Texas that would put Olajuwan ahead of Ewing as an overall great player. Ewing peaked earlier in his career having played on bad knees for years. Also, Ewing was by far the better scorer and only Pat Riley's slowdown offense (stemming from him trying to compensate for the lack of offensive talent on the Knicks) reduced Ewing's scoring opportunities.

  • @bartime100

Ewing was consistently too strong and big for Olajuwan to handle guarding one on one in the NBA. Olajuwan's Houston teams almost always had someone help Hakeem guard Ewing, or simply had Hakeem switch off Ewing. AFTER '94 Olajuwan was definitely the better player. Ewing started to decline quickly at that point and all his skill and size couldn't make up for bad knees.

  • @bartime100 Meanwhile Olajuwan flourished and lost little in the way of athleticism right up to the very end of his career. Olajuwan was a supremely talented NBA Center, and one of the best of all time. No doubt about it. But Ewing at his peak was better than Olajuwan at his peak. Not by much, as overall team players go, but certainly head to head.

  • @Omnicronimous Hey I don't think anybody would question the prowess of Patrick Ewing but no way was he in his prime a supreme player to Hakeem. Look at the stats. OK, so Ewing received additional help. Do you think the Knicks didn't double and triple up Olajuwon? Not to mention he manhandled him in the finals. Go look at the spin move he put on Ewing and left him in his tracks scratching at his head. Olajuwon was unmatched.

  • @Omnicronimous Dude Ewing was NEVER BETTER than Dream, I don't know what U were watching. U NEED to look at their H2H stats again bro Ewing was in DREAMs back pocket......LMAO at that comment.

  • Hakeem had no weaknesses!!! He can Post, foot work, Dominated, awesome FT shooter, can even shoot the 3 if he wanted to.. Defense!!! Overall the Best Center ever! with all do respect to Kareem

  • interesting that they both started with soccer... Hakeem said he thought of the "Dream Shake" from a soccer move

  • All respect to Patrick, but Hakeem was the man. Nobody could ever stop him, not Shaq, not Robinson...nobody.

  • OH SNAP !~ Nike Terminators issued only to the HOYAS! David Wingate and Ewing with them

  • Hey there was a BEAST on Georgetown in 1984. He was a Freshman named Michael Graham. He became a legend in 1 year. Ask anyone who saw him play. He was one and done...but I will NEVER forget how he smashed opponents and intimidated them along with Patrick Ewing!

  • OLAJUWON JUST HAD TOO MANY MOVES, AND I STILL DO NOT SEE A CENTER HAS THAT MANY GREAT MOVES.

  • @LETXEQUALS you got that right! but there's one coming up! Do you still notice Yao Ming's improvements?

  • I'm a diehard Knicks fan and I love Pat.He's an all time great but it woulda been great to see how much better he woulda been if his knees didnt fail him.

  • I was a hell of a Knicks fan back in the 90s. I was devestated when we lost to Houston. It was supposed to be OUR year! With Jordan gone, weak Eastern Conference, it was ours. But Hakeem The Dream put that shit to sleep. Big Up Olajuwon!

  • I will have to reserve top 3 centers of all time spot to Chamberlain, Jabbar, and Russell (in no particular order). Olajuwon is top 4 or 5, depends on whether you think Shaq is better. Hakeem beat Shaq with ease in 1995, but Shaq was barely 22 then. It would be interesting to see Hakeem of 1995 playing Shaq of circa 2000 having a rematch though.

  • lmao it wouldnt be complete without showing michael

  • an injured ewing and olajuwon would demolish the centers today LOL @ dwight howard, chris mullin and old-ass shaq...the nba has completely fell apart at that position...

  • @stokelycarm lol thats why dwight is practicing with olajuwon

  • @aznxwarlock yea and bynum is practicing with Kareem, it doesn't make him that tho...both centers are incapable of greatness.

  • @stokelycarm lol you mistake me for sticking up for dwight i never said dwight would be great i said he's learning from olajuwon that's all, and bynum just straight up licks sac.

  • @stokelycarm well i should say learning from

  • @stokelycarm yao ming is a good center

  • michael graham was the reason the coogs lost to the hoyas in '84 the coogs had no answer for him,you see how much the missed him in the '85 championship game!

  • John Starks envies to Pat and Hakeem just lucky

  • The Dream Shake

  • Ewing's teammates: Georgetown. This is the reason of his college victory

  • Ewing>Olajuwon in college Hakeem>Ewing n the NBA there 1-1 against each other n the biggest stage

  • @jmaal2345 If you look at their efficiency in college, they were about the same.

  • @upabittoolate but ewing was better in college and he beat him in the ncaa, but hakeem beat em on the nba level

  • @jmaal2345 At a glance, it'd seem that way. But if you examine their efficiencies (ie their respective productivity per minutes played) you'd see that they were about neck & neck. I'd argue that John Starks beat the Knicks. I'd also argue that Sam Cassell & Robert Horry beat the Knicks too.

And this is coming from me, a big fan of Olajuwon.

  • @upabittoolate i understand that, but during that time there was no center in college that was close to ewing he was a force

  • @jmaal2345 -Ewing was NEVER BETTER than DREAM even in College. Man who lied and told U that ?.Sure GTOWN beat HOU in NCAA Final but that was just a case of Ewing having more around him than Dream. When Dream announced he would forgo his sr season and enter the draft, everybody knew he'd go #1regardless of if Ewing came out or not. Ewing could've chose to come out BUT did not .

  • @yourownchicken Are you fucking nuts? Dnt gimme that bullshit about Hakeem not having a team he had Rod Williams Larry Nieshoe or whoever u spell his name. Ewing was better than Hakeem period point. Ewing had that toughness and nastiness to em. He was killing Hakeem with that turnaround jumper son. Fuck off hakeems jock Ewing is a top5 center EVER in college. Your strictly talking NBA. Y didn't Hakeem win it the first time wit drexler then vs nc state? Thought so

  • @jmaal2345 --Put the crack pipe down Hakeem was the overall #1 IN (84) in the same class that produced Jordan, Barkley, and Stockton. How long U been watching hoop ?. Ewing knew like everybody else that Dream would've been #1 even if he had came out instead of returning for his senior season like he did. While Hakeem was at U of Houston he was working out with Moses Malone the NBA MVP in 83 while Pat Ewing was workin out with his team mates Ralph Dalton and Michael Graham. LMAO (CONT)

  • @jmaal2345 --Lets see i (Hakeem) practice and work with a guy (Moses Malone The NBA MVP 83) on my game. The same Moses who tangles with the Lakers Kareem and The Celtic Skyline of Parrish, Bird and Maxwell/Mchale. While I (Ewing) get to dominate cream-puffs and wannabe tough guys Michael Graham and Ralph Dalton.....Your a joke man. David Wingate and Reggie Williams were better than anybody The U of Houston had in that game, as far as NC State Guy Lewis leaving Drexler in the game (cont)

  • @jmaal2345 in the Title Game with 3 fouls in the 1st half is something no one will ever be able to explain. Drexler also left after his jr season (83 draft) instead of coming back to U of HOU for his sr campaign. So im NOT just talking NBA which we all know DREAM was way better than BUT in COLLEGE as well.!

  • @yourownchicken who gives a fuck if he worked wit moses. Ewing didnt have to work wit anybody to be great. just to settle the debate Ewing beat dat ass in the ncaa championship game nuff said. winning is everything dumb ass. final four most oustanding player VS HAKEEM FOOL

  • @jmaal2345 -Proves how much U know IDIOT about B-BALL. U come on here and talk junk when most on here with A FEW exceptions (one being your dumbass) KNOW DREAM was better COLLEGE and PRO! In closing G-TOWN beat U of HOU BUT Ewing didn't dominate ISH U Clown. Ewing had more around him than DREAM as ive stated as Reggie Williams and David Wingate were better than anything DREAM had on his team. Go back and learn something about hoop before continuing to make yourself look DUMBER than U already are

  • @yourownchicken Y SAID EWING DIDNT DOMINATE? UR FUCKING NUTS TEAMS USE TO FEAR EWING WEN THEY PLAYED HIM HE CONTROLLED THAT PAINT. STOP ACTING LIKE HAKEEM WAS SUPERIOR TO HIM BCUZ HE WAS NOT. HOUSTON WAS GOOD AS FUCK Y COULDNT HE WIN IT WIT CLYDE DREXLER THE YEAR BEFORE? YEA THEY CHOKED THEY WERE HUGE FAVS TO WIN THAT GAME AND THEY CHOKED BIG TIME. EWING WAS BETTER U CAN ASK MOST ANALYST WHO WAS BETTER IN COLLEGE AND THEYLL TELL U EWING. HE WAS A FUCKING BEAST QUIT BEING A HATER U SOUND RETARDED

  • @yourownchicken IF HE WASNT DOMINATE Y DID HE MAKE THE ALLAMERICAN TEAMS AND WIN NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR? UR STUPID AS HELL. IF A BIGMAN WINS A NPOY HES DOMINATING PERIOD POINT BLANK. AND HAKEEM PLAYED IN A SHITTY CONFRENCE IN COLLEGE WERE EWING WAS PLAYING AGAINST SUPERIOR COMPETITION IN HIS CONFERENCE WIT WAY BETTER BIGMEN

  • @jmaal2345 - Way Better Than Ewing...

  • @jmaal2345 --U don't even remember or know the players IDIOT Jus' quit while your ahead. NCAA Title Game H2H Stats. Ewing 4-8 from the field 2-2 from the line for 10pts also had 9reb vs Olajuwan 6-9 from the field 3-7 from the line for 15 pts and also 9 rebs and U got NERVE to say Ewing dominated! LMAO Again go get some Hoop knowledge before posting again! And who the hell is Rod Williams (U Mean Rob idiot NOT on 84 team and Larry Michaeux also NOT on 84 team Dumbssa)NOW GO BAN YOURSELF (CONT)

  • @yourownchicken Hakeem had squads and yes they did play with him on his houston teams, STOP MAKING UP EXCUSES TO WHY EWING TOEDAT ASS UP HOW MANY FUCKING COLLEGE TEAMS DO U SEE THAT ARE CARRIED TO THE NCAA FINALS WIT 1 STAR? IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. HAKEEM WAS KICKING EVERY OTHER TEAMS ASS EXCPET EWING SO QUIT BEING A CRYBABY BITCH EWING>>>>>>>HAKEEM IN COLLEGE POINT BLANK. HAKEEM AVG ONLY 8 PTS 6 REB HIS 1ST YEAR LOL. EWING AVG 12PTS 7REB AND STILL LEAD HIS TEAM TO THE TITLE GAME AS A FRESHMAN

  • @jmaal2345 theoretically Ewing was better, but Olajuwon had a charisma, he could do unbelievable things...

Ewing was my favorite player when i was kid but he was unlucky to meet Olajuwon in his way.

he also razed Shaq and Robinson he was blessed with a play style that i still today cant understand or analyze .

  • @jmaal2345 - AND DONT COMEBACK FOR ABOUT A MONTH OR UNTIL YOU HAVE LEARNED YOUR LESSON !

  • @yourownchicken watch this vid u dumbass he was even more athletic than hakeem ever was stupid ass never even watched ewings highlights. and hell no my knicks would not have drafted hakeem>ewing with the number one pick in 85, it was ewing allday for us so fuck u

  • @jmaal2345 Your jus a lil kid I actually seen them play U idiot U dont know CRAP, Olajuwan was number 1 pick in a class with Jordan, Barkley and Stockton. Everybody knew DREAM would be the #1 pick in 84(except your dumb ass), its not a big secret and that was regardless if YOUR BOY EWING came out or not. DUMB ASS! EWING 18.9 PPG 37 % Shooting in the Finals. DREAM 27 PPG 50% shooting in the Finals. Riley had to put Mason,Oakley and Smith to help guard DREAM cause he was busting EWING UP (CONT)

  • @yourownchicken look muthafucka i already said ewing was not better than hakeem in the pros no shit. Hakeem is a top10 player alltime i have him number8 on my list. i agree with wut u said about his nba career and wen they faced off i was talking bout COLLEGE DUMBASS. obviously ur a ewing hater. Ewing was just better in college no ifs and nor buts about it. ur argument is only debatavle for a ewing vs hakeem nba finals vid. stop being a dumbass u look foolish

  • @jmaal2345 --As far as the Vid U see DREAM DUNK ON HIS ASS ! He been doing that to EWING his whole career. U say EWING dominated DREAM in the NCAA Title game If U call 10pts 9 rebs foe Ewing, vs 15 pts and 9 rebs for DREAM LMAO,,,U didnt even know who played with DREAM on that team vs G-TOWN. DREAM was battling and learning from Moses Malone 83 MVP The best Center in the NBA Along with KAREEM at that time and better than anybody Pat Ewing EVER played against in the BIG EAST..Go change your (cont

  • @jmaal2345- Diaper, I hit U with nothing but REAL FACTS, about your lack of B-Ball knowledge U shitted on yourself LITTLE KID. Only thing Ewing MIGHT be able to beat DREAM in is a game of HORSE. So ima leave U with 5 words, FUCK YOU EAT A DICK!

  • @yourownchicken /watch?v=-dSY0a13EUo

  • @jmaal2345 Remember the dream won "Most outstanding player"

  • Pat vs Akeem Dream Shake, power playing against athleticism and agility. That was real basket!

  • @paolofala

    damn right!!!!!!!!

  • @paolofala Done years and years ago. Against Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain. People have been look for those two heirs to appear. Ewing, and Hakeem had it but not as much.

  • @paolofala Dude, you are right about Hakeem's athleticism, agility and I will also add finesse, speed and versatility. But Patrick Ewing was not all bout power at all, the dude also has athleticism, agility and finesse but Olajuwon got the speed and versatility. If you are talking about power, then Shaq is your man.

  • len bias would murder haakeem and patrcik

  • not hakeem. maybe pat.

  • @thahoodnigga , brah you stupid

  • missing from this: Olajuwon and Ewing met again in 1994 for the NBA title. There, Olajuwon got the better of Ewing by winning the championship and MVP honours. Olajuwon would win the NBA title again the next year as well.

  • Ewing was a great center, but can t compare to Olajuwon...In my opinion,Hakeem is the best center ever to play.

  • tim duncan is a poor man's version of hakeem without the shooting touch and athleticism

  • i agree

  • @lucasmachad hakeem was great but id have to give it to either jabbar or russell

  • @dyrdek3234

Russell? He was great defensive player but he had no talent on offensive side

  • @dyrdek3234, so your saying that jabar and russell would stop Olajuwon, your opinion, but i dont think so,

  • @lucasmachad he's top 5 no doubt but not top, thats just my opinion

  • @lucasmachad Both ewing and hakeem are great. But best centers have to be Wilt Chamberlin and Bill Russell hands down

  • @lucasmachad absolutely right

  • @lucasmachad what do you mean Patrick Ewing should be compared to Olajuwon because Ewing is a warrior.

  • @lucasmachad cough i think its that guy with skyhook shot forgot his name

  • @lucasmachad I think Wilt Chamberlain will have to argue that...

  • @lucasmachad Can't argue with that. Not saying that he is the greatest ever but I can't say he isn't

  • olajuwon > ewing, olajuwon isa beast

  • id rather treat him as a gentleman on the basketball court.

  • False

Olajuwon >> Than Ewing. There's NOTHING Ewing was better at than Olajuwon.

  • Ok I could understand that you say olajuwon because its your opinion, but you make it seem like he's way better than ewing. They are both great players enough said.

  • Olajuwon > Ewing

  • Unique footage

  • great matchup
