I grew up on this game. I can say I never have played any other racing game more. Such a great game with great memories. Although my goal was to crash everyone and i had some awesome ones.

I have a funny story with this screen, I remember that only once i got to monolithic and i was using the F50 and i was beating the competition even the Mclaren that was the fasttest car in the game, but i always loved to hit the car against everything and in this screen i hit against a stupid wagon and I lost the race because of that and never made again to monolithic :(

You know I've never understood why myself.

On the PC versions, the dashboard was there until Porsche Unleashed. On PS1 just the first two. No matter much though.

It's awesome on a PS3, but rather poor on a Playstation 1 and 2. Which is why the game was so poorly received on its playstation version. With a PS3, this game thrashes the PC version and the Special edition.

Maybe this is a dumb question (I don't own a PS3 yet), but why does this game play better on the PS3? Is the PS3's emulation of the PS1 over-clocked or something? Would playing them on the PS3 improve the situation in other frame rate challenged PS1 games?

You know what, I honestly don't know the answer to that question. The PS3 only improves PS1 games through Frame rate I believe. And crap frame rate was the only problem with the game itself, making it bad to play on a PS1 or PS2 console.
