I'm a gringo from Pompano Beach and only visit SoBe when I have out of town guests but it is truly a magical place with world class restaurants and nightlife. Those of us who remember it from the 70's and 80's appreciate the transformation. Just watch for the speed traps on Alton Road.

Depends what your used to. a lot of Europeans come in the Winter and can swim at the beach, as a local I cant.. its too cold. but spring or fall is nice. not to hot, and Miami barely ever gets cold.. if it does its for 3 days due to a front :)

I have not been to Miami but I think it would be too cold for me to swim in the winter. It was a little cold in the water in the summer in San Diego. So maybe I go when it´s spring or fall. Do you have rain periods? Like does it rain much in the winter?

the water temperature does not drop below 68f. that is quite warm enough for swimming, but not for just standing around in the water if the air temp. is low.
