  • great song

  • This song still brings a wonderfully sad feeling to me, tears and all! I LOVE it! Brenda and the backing vocals are sensational in the soft beauty. It's playing now and I am tearing up!

  • @crfrjeja Now he's playing this in the heavens above!! Rip!!

  • no oldie can top this song ! wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE THIS SONG S MUCH IM 23 AND I LOVE OLDIES GOLDIES MUSIC THANKS TO MY MOTHER WHO IS 58 YEARS OLD

  • I was around 13 when I first heard this song, like around 1972, they used to play it in Philly, where she is from also, and used to use it for a segment called the appologetic line, and people would call up and appologize to thier love to this song while it played in the background. Sweet sweet memories. Also Brenda was a singer in a reggae group in the 80's called House of Assembly, I heard her sing one night in the park and it was like hearing an angel sing. God Bless Her !!!

  • My husband used to play this song for me everyday, sometimes several times a day. Now I know why he used to play it for me. We were married 32 years; he passed away 3 years ago. He was and will always be the love of my life..ditto to you my bebe.

  • @crfrjeja That was a beautiful tribute from a beautiful song. I pray your soul is at peace----i'm out----

  • classic

  • @TinaMarie5121 .... she passed away about 5yrs or so ago from breast cancer

  • I WAS LIVING WITH MY PARENTS I N FOREST HOUSES IN THE BRONX. MS EDIE SIMMONS LIVED IN THE BUILDING, AND SHE USED TO PLAY THIS SONG. SHOUTOUT TO THE SIMMONS FAMILY FROM THE DRAKE FAMILY

  • This is such a beautiful cut my Brenda and the tabulations, bless you for sharing this wonderful music with us. Thanks a million.......

  • oh, i have a original copy of this album on Dionn Records, old school smooth

  • Brenda & The Tabulations was great. They did not get the exposure like the Motown Groups. Too me she was better than the Supremes. She can hold her own with any of the Motown female Groups.

  • After "Right On The Tip Of My Tongue" (1971), I'd buy anything by Brenda & the Tabulations, and tracked down this album and some of their earlier 60s releases. This style of (what we called then) "Sweet Soul" ballad is sorely missed today I think.

  • I never heard this as a child in the 60's.Motown was dominating the airways in my hometown. This is such a heart touching beautiful ballard. I believe if someone would take the risk and redo this song it would help bring back the soulful feeling that's missing in the music industry today.

  • one of my favorites

  • SMX7STREET LOCAS IN DA HOUSE.....

  • LISA JAM PERO PERO LUV IT!!!

  • Old School at its Best and still Standing

  • I love this tune and only heard this for the first time a week ago. I've only heard a couple of Brenda And The Tabulations tunes, but this song I haven't in the past. But because they never played it on a radio station (oldies namely). This is a pretty song and now hear it every single day now. I have Pandora radio and so I've chosen the Brenda And The Tabulations station on my blackberry. I have nothing, but old school R & B and I also like rap, but I like old school R & B more.

  • Back when music had heart. Now its superficial autotuned shit. Im 28, have loved these oldies since I was a kid. I HATE most mainstream music that comes out now.

  • I first heard Brenda &tabulations at year 67.I just started high and became best friends. Her name is brenda an we're still friends. I thought they're names were cool as in typing class hit that tabulator! lol

  • @tonkinship & brownmajic. So right, the instrumental to "Genius Of Love" by Tom Tom Club was the roll call song in the morning. WOW, our memories of good old days! I gotta throw Stienberg Skating Rink in there. We actually walked to Forest Park with skates over our shoulders. EVERYONE HERE have a beautiful Mother's Day and stay soulful. God Bless.

  • right on Gregorysteven! ur hometown memories are still alive homes! When I play this for the gang I grew up with they be like Hell Naaw. Everyone remembers the dedication show and how we used to call in and this cut would be playing in the background. If it was raining outside and after Momma made you do all your homework and chores, u got on the phone with that special girl (first love) and turned on the radio.

  • When I was a little boy growing up in brooklyn ny my moms owned a record player..i later bought my own little suitcase like record player..I was so proud as i was 13..this song was actually from my older sister's collection 45s 33 1/33 LPs.(60s 70s) .back then..a 45.was Gold..and it was played until the grooves turned white. I am 55 now but when I hear the Haunting sounds of Brenda and the Tabulations..suddenly I am 13yrs -16yrs old again..This song is living proof I didnt Dream all of this up.

  • I'm 52 years old now. This song was the theme song for the Love Line on KATZ here in St. Louis, MO. back when I was a freshman, sophmore at Soldan High. We kids were sooo in love and would call in and dedicate our love to our sweethearts. I never forgot this song. I never knew the name of it cuz they would always play it as an overture. WOW. thanx brownpride for the memories and thanx youtube.

  • @Rustee50 When I saw your comment about this song I was flabbergasted. I am living in Baltimore,MD now, but I was born and raised in St. Louis MO. Everything you wrote was so true. I remember that radio show and had a dedication heard over the air. I attended William Beaumont High School, Class of 75.

  • This is a beautiful song... Brings a tear to my eye

  • When I first heard this song I was just a little girl,Now I 42yrs and sill love it and now dedicate it to my love robert who was my boyfriend at the age of 10 going on 11 he was my first kiss and I never forgot that kiss as children we did not really know how to be together so we went our separate ways,we got together again at 16yrs we where in bad situations so we went our separate ways again,we got back together at the age 38 now both married and have a lil girl we will never say goodbye.LUV U

  • @gisele6704 What a wonderful destiny. I beleive both of You will be together for ever. You only come back together because of Love and Trust. That is where it is really good,,, where a Person is comfortable. Can't no one break that, because You two belong together, just like a lot of others, but They are together for a lot of the wrong reason. Hey! May the force be with U, full steam ahead

  • @gisele6704 This is very inspiring. This is the definition of love never lost. Thank you for sharing I know there has to be others who experience this exact same situation and this really gives hope for those situations that may seem hopeless. Thank you very much and may G-D, the joiner of the hearts of mankind that cultivates the love between the two, always bless your union in marriage

    !

  • @gisele6704 That is such a beautful strory, girl you here this song, that's the wayy it used to be before the advent of rap.

  • @gisele6704 what a story, glad you're happy now !!!!

  • THIS WAS THE THEME SONG FOR THE QUIET STORM IN ST. LOUIS ON "WESL" WITH DJ JIM GATES THE BROWN-EYED SCORPIO.

  • @brownmajic48 I remember this very well on Wesl. But will U help Me to remember what tune was played in the morning on katz before School? the name of the show was called,(ROLL CALL). We would call in and say the name of Our school such as , Beaumount, roll call ,Lincoln an so on

  • @tonkinshipwreck69

The song was the instrumental version of "Genius of Love" by the Tom Tom Club!

I listened to it too. Was I right?

  • @rowdyrodd53 Are You serious? DGRZ13..said: how nice it was that, all comments were in unison and focussed on the song. You don't really mean that, do ya? These People commenting here are obviously laid back Older and Younger folks probably Whites as well that like a really nice groove. How could You see any corollation between that group and this, wonderful Black Women song group?

  • i use to listen to this song every morning. It made my day. One of my favorite songs of all time. So beautiful! Oldies rule 4 ever!!!

  • I dedicate to my sweet mom who went home 7 years ago. Never Goodbye Mom!
